Do the following problem correctly !

1. An oxygen cylinder of volume 30 litres has an initial gauge pressure of 15 atm and a temperature of 27 oC . After
some oxygen is withdrawn from the cylinder the gauge pressure drops to 11 atm and its temperature drops to 17
o
C. Estimate the mass of oxygen taken out of the cylinder.(R = 8.31 J mole-1 K-1, molecular mass of O2 = 32
g/mole, 1 atm = 1.013 x 105 Pa)

2. A tank with a volume of 50 liters contains 3 moles of monatomic gas. If the average kinetic energy of
each gas is 8.2 x 10-21 J, determine the pressure of the gas in the tank!

3. An ideal gas in an enclosed space which temperature is 27 oC has a particle kinetic energy of 150 J. If
the kinetic energy is 300 J, determine the temperature of the gas now!

4. Calculate the rms speed of the CO2  at 27 oC (R = 8.314 J mole-1 K-1 and molar mass, M CO2 = 44 g/mole)

5. Isothermal Expansion of an Ideal Gas Heat is added to 1 mol of an ideal monatomic gas confined to a
cylinder with a movable piston at one end. The gas expands quasi-statically at a constant temperature of
300 K until its volume increases from V to 3V. (a) What is the change in internal energy of the gas? (b)
How much work does the gas do? (c) How much heat is added to the gas?

6. At 27 oC two moles of an ideal monoatomic gas occupy a volume V. The gas expands adiabatically to a
volume 2V. Calculate the work done by the gas during this process.

7. Based on graph above, what is the work done by engine in a cycle
