Parody Project Outline W Dates
Day 1 (April 6th & April 7th - 1 hour 27 min class) - Individual Research Day
o Pick who you will be working with (groups of 2 or 3)
o Pick your historical topic, person, event, or time period to research and parody
o Begin reading about your topic and taking independent research notes. At least a page of notes
on your topic that you can include in your parody.
Day 2 (April 8th - 42 min class) - Collaborative Research
o INDIVIDUAL RESEARCH NOTES DUE
o Meet with your group with your individual notes. Compare what you have researched and create
a complete list of your information that as a group you can synthesize into your song parody.
o Decide what song will be chosen to parody.
Day 3 (April 11th and 12th - 1 hour 27 min class) - Research and Song Writing
o Complete your collaborative research.
o Begin going line by line and writing your song lyrics.
Day 4 (April 13th and 14th - 30 min class) - Song Writing
o GROUP RESEARCH NOTES DUE
o Continue going line by line and writing your song lyrics.
Day 5 (April 18th - 20 minute class period) - Song Writing
o Continue going line by line and writing your song lyrics.
Day 6 (April 19th and 20th - 1 hour 27 min class) - Song Recording
o SONG LYRICS DUE
o Begin practicing singing your song lyrics, making small changes if necessary.
o Record your lyrics with a backing track playing in the background.
Day 7 (April 21st and 22nd - 1 hour 27 min class) - Song Recording and Video Production
o Continue practicing singing your song lyrics, making small changes if necessary.
o Record your lyrics with a backing track playing in the background.
Day 8 (April 25th and 26th - 1 hour 27 min class) - Song Recording and Video Production
o Last day to record song in class
o Begin finding images to include in your music video relating to your topic.
o Begin adding your song lyrics as subtitles in your video.
Day 9 (April 27th and 28th - 1 hour 27 min class) - Video Production & Assemble Exhibition
o SONG RECORDING DUE
o Continue finding images to include in your music video relating to your topic.
o Continue adding your song lyrics as subtitles in your video.
o Begin assembling the exhibition board that will accompany your Parody video that will include
the presentation of your research, song lyrics, images, and actual video.
Day 10 (April 30th - 42 min class) - Assemble Exhibition
o Continue assembling the exhibition board that will accompany your Parody video that will
include the presentation of your research, song lyrics, images, and actual video.
Day 11 (May 2nd and 3rd - 1 hour 27 min class) - Project Finalization
o FINAL EXHIBITION AND VIDEO DUE
o Ensure the entirety of your project and your exhibition is done and make any minor changes to
any part of your project.
