The activity ends on: Friday, March 25, 2022
2022
With this activity, you are expected to achieve the following learning outcome(s):

To apply one of the procedures for self-monitoring as a strategy current level of performance
in the immersion practice.

The activity consists of:

Step 1 - Reading & Questions

1. Go the go to the Learning Environment Unit 2 and read the texts “Self- monitoring” and
“Keeping a teaching journal” and answer the following questions in the collaborative forum”

a. What aspects of a lesson would you be most interested in studying, while using a video
recording of a lesson?
b. Do you think a video recording of a lesson can be used to assess a teacher’s teaching
practice? Why or why not?
c. What are some advantages of keeping an electronic journal?
d. What might be an advantage of keeping journal entries over a long period of time and
looking back over them from time to time?

Step 2 - Electronic journal

1
2. Use a technological tool for writing an electronic –journal about your teaching classes,
following the format: (if you want you can use this resource
https://www.adobe.com/es/express/create/online-journal

Posner (1996) suggests the following general format for dialogue journals:

 Date and time of entry: A journal entry should only cover one day and should be
written on the day of the event; otherwise, we may forget exactly what happened and
when.
 Brief sequencing of the events: Make a brief list describing what happened(all the
events). This helps you to keep a record of what happened
 Elaboration of details of an event: Select one or two events that are significant to
you – that excited you, bothered you, or made you think again about an issue. Next,
describe the events in detail, how you felt about them at the time, and how your
students responded to them.
 Analysis of the event: Suggest an explanation for the event, saying why it was
significant to you and how you interpret it.

Step 3 - Self-monitoring worksheet

3. Record a video of the classes you have taught micro-teaching style. This must be up to 45
minutes long then, watch the video-recording and apply the self- monitoring worksheet.
Download the template. You must read this information:

formats of practice and evidences of the development of his/her pedagogical practice that
the link is public so that both the course director and the teachers of the network can

a certain number of face-to-face accompaniments to groups of students, at UNAD
headquarters. Taking into account the above.
