Music Lesson Plan

Title: Brown Bear Brown Bear Grade Level: Kindergarten Source: Dr.
McConkey

Materials needed:
● Book “Brown Bear Brown Bear”
● Instruments- drums, wood blocks, triangles

Procedure:

A.S: Ask the children what their favorite animal is.

1. Read book “Brown Bear Brown Bear to the students.


2. Tell children that for the color clap and for the animal pat on lap.
Brown (clap) Bear (pat)
3. For the “What do you see?” part point to your eyes.
4. Read part of the book clapping, patting, and pointing to eyes for different
parts.
5. Give instructions for using instruments.
Have kids put instruments on floor and hands in lap when giving
instruction.
6. Give out the instruments to children. Instruct students that when they hear
the color the wood blocks will play. When they hear the animal, the drums
will play. When they hear the “I see” part the triangles will play. 7. Read book
with instruments playing the different parts.

Closure: Ask children what instrument was played for the animals, what instrument
played for the colors, and what instrument played for the word see.
Educational Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will have learned how to play
different instruments.
