Wynsenn: (Museo De Filipino Trend) “Walang magiging alipin kung walang
magpapa alipin” I am Jose Protasio Rizal Y Alonso Realonda. On June 19, 1861, I
was born. I lived in the province of Calamba Laguna. Francisco Rizal Mercado Y
Alonso and Teodora Alonso Realonda Y Quintos are my parents. During the final
years of the Spanish colonial period in the Philippines, I was a Filipino nationalist and
polymath. I was named the Filipino People's National Hero. I became a writer and an
important member of the Propaganda Movement, which advocated for political
reforms in the colony under Spanish rule. I died on December 30, 1896, when I was
35 years old. My execution by firing squad was the cause of my death.

*As he was inside the prison his whole journey/life flashed.

Hannah: It is important to study Jose Rizal's life because of his contribution to the
Philippines' independence. He chose knowledge and the power of letters to fight for
his country. He became aware of his countrymen's continued suffering at the hands
of the Spaniards and sought to put an end to it. The following are some of the values
that you can learn in Rizal’s life.

PASSION TOWARDS STUDIES

Wynsenn: (ag act nga agbasbassa) His mother teaching him since she was his
first teacher. Montage of his schools (Ateneo,UST, Univ of Madrid,..etc.) +BG
dialogue about how passionate he was towards his studies.
(From a young age, Jose Rizal showed an exceptional intellect. He learned the
alphabet from his mother when he was five years old, and while learning to read and
write, he already showed signs of wanting to be an artist. His family and relatives
were astounded by his pencil drawings and sketches, as well as his clay moldings.
His mother, along with his uncles and brother, was his first teacher, shaping him into
the person he is today. Jose Rizal was a man of creativity, passion for knowledge,
and education from his humble beginnings to his studies in his native land of
Laguna. Jose Rizal was gifted both intellectually and artistically. Medicine, poetry,
sketching, architecture, and sociology were all areas in which he excelled.)

DEVOTION TO TRUTH
Micah: It was not good, according to Rizal, to hide the truth. Rizal's perseverance in
seeking the truth while serving his country was a motivating virtue. In order to
discover the source of his people's backwardness, Rizal conducted extensive
research and made broad observations on the progress of other nations.

LOVE A FELLOW MAN

Jessa: Rizal advocated for thinking well of our fellow men, and his life exemplified
the principle of love of neighbor, which entails involvement on his or her behalf.
Rizal's teaching on love for our fellow men is biblical and timeless.

LOVE OF PARENTS
Hannah: Rizal's love for his parents is admirable; he studied medicine and
entomology solely to cure his mother's failing eyesight. Jose, no doubt, adored his
father.

FAITH IN GOD
Jarelle: When Rizal was studying in Madrid, Spain, he assured his mother of his
faith in God in a letter.

PATRIOTISM
Crysha: Denotes proud devotion and loyalty to one's country, so Rizal's vision and
proposal on how the people of our country can be on the road to Paris so that they
can enjoy the fullness of nationhood.

*Rizal is standing with his hands tied up. As soon as the bullet hit him, despite
his condition, Rizal will force his body to turn around, thus, making him fall
with his back on the ground and his head facing the sky.
Wynsenn: Consummatum Est!
(TRANSITION)
Jessa: These are some of the values highlighted in Rizal’s life and we can try to
imitate him, his love for his beloved country, his works that have helped many
people, his use of his time not for his pleasures, his love for his family and concern
for their safety, his friendliness, and many other qualities.
Micah: It is important to know these values to rededicate the lives of today's youth to
the ideals of freedom and nationalism for which our heroes fought and died. To
honor our national hero for devoting his life and work to shaping the Filipino
character.
