 Prof. Shashiprabha Kumar

Prof. Shashiprabha Kumar is a renowned Sanskrit Scholar, whose contributions are recognized by
the global academic community. Currently she works as the Chairperson of the Indian Institute of
Advanced Study, Shimla. She also holds positions such as Distinguished Fellow (Honorary) of the
Vivekananda International Foundation, New Delhi, and is the Dean of Sri Sankracarya Sanskrit
Mahavidyalaya, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, New Delhi. Previously she held positions like the Vice-
Chancellor of Sanchi University of Buddhist-Indic Studies, Professor & Chairperson, Centre for
Sanskrit Studies, JNU; Vice-Chairperson, Delhi Sanskrit Academy etc. Among many honours /
Awards she received, some of them are: Viśiṣṭa Puraskar, Uttar Pradesh Sanskrit Sansthan,
Lucknow, 2019; Sanskrit Śrī conferred by Akhil Bharatiya Sanskrit Sahitya Sammelana, New Delhi,
2019; Vidyā Sāgar Upādhi by Mandakini Sanskrit Vidvat Pariṣad, New Delhi, 2018; Pandit Gaṅgā
Prasād Upādhyāya Puraskar Allahabad, 2017.

Prof. Kapil Kapur

Prof. Kapil Kapur is a Professor of English & Concurrent Professor Sanskrit (JNU). He was also a
Member of the PM’s National 75th year Commemoration Committee; Member of the Executive
Council, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library and Member of the High Level Committee IKS
Ministry of Education. He was also Former Chairman of Indian Institute of Advanced Study Shimla;
Member, IHRC Editorial Committee National Archives; Member, MHRD Language Expert
Committee and Member, India Policy Foundation. He was also Former Chancellor of Mahatma
Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha. He was a Visiting Professor of Irish Academy of
Cultural Heritages & University of Ulster, UK during 2005-2009 and Former Pro-Vice-Chancellor
JNU. Among his literary contributions, his services as Editor-in-Chief (11-Vol.) of the Encyclopedia
of Hinduism 2012, and as Chief Editor Sahitya Akademi Encyclopedia of Indian Poetics are
significant.
