English Task

Once upon a time there was an old couple who can’t have kid, they lived in a small house near the
village forest.  They always pray and asked to God everyday for given they a child. Finally, their request
was granted by God, finally, that day has come, they heard a cry from the household Shinto altar, “Waa!
Waa! Turns out, it’s a small baby that crying, who looked just like a little finger.They were happy and
praised to God, for that gift. Then they named the child, Issumboshi. Issumboshi was raised with much
love and care, but there is one problem, that he’s never grew bigger. Because he is so small, his friend
friend often bullied him, they say that Issumboshi can even get eaten by a frog, because of how small he
is. That makes Issumboshi often went home feeling unhappy, because he was always being bullied by the
children of the village.

But, his grandmother always encourages him, she always makes him food and tell him to eat a lot so he
can grow quickly. One day, Issumboshi said, that he will go to the capital to study and become a
respectable person. Then he will come back. His Grandfather and Grandmother were worried about him,
but Issumboshi’s mind would not be changed. They began to prepare the trip. With a high spirit,
Issumboshi sheathed a needle sword in a straw case, put on a cup for a sedge hat, and started out with a
chopstick staff, prepares himself to go to the Capital.

Issumboshi already started his trip, his Grandfather and Grandmother feel so worried, “did he’s gonna
be safe? with such a small body?” They asked as they saw him off. But Issumboshi, knew, he went on the
trip with a big wish in a small body. When he was reached the capital city, he headed straight for the
palace. In the palace, Issumboshi wants to meet the feudal lord to asking him, that he wants to be his
retainer, because Issumboshi have a talent to be a guard. At first, The Lord was very surprised because of
how small Issumboshi’s are. Then, Issumboshi’s was gave an assigment to look after the Princess. Turns
out, the Princess liked Issumboshi, she taught him various study like reading and writing. Further. Beside
that, Issumboshi’s practiced fencing very hard in order to be strong, so he can protected the Princess as
strong as possible.

Someday, the Princess went to Kiyomizu Temple to worship, and then suddenly, there was a strong
wind and some demons appeared. The leader of the demon tried to grab the Princess. When Issumboshi
tried to help her, some of demon caught him and swallow him. Issumboshi jabbed his stomach and made
him rolled over and spat out Issumboshi. After that, Issumboshi stabbed his eyes. Because of that, he
make another demons were frightened of him. So, they run away in great haste, but one demon fell behind
and was holding a magic hammer. Issumboshi tried to threaten him by wanting to stab his eye, but out of
fear the demon gave the magic hammer to him. Then, Issumboshi asked the Princess to transform himself
into a big one using the magic hammer. The wishes came true, Issumboshi change become a nice young
man. They went back to the palace, and ask the Prince to let the Princess married Issumboshi, and from
now on, they became a couple. At the wedding day, Issumboshi invited his Grandfather and Grandmother
to live in the palace with them. Finally, they lived happily ever after, end of the story.
