To Whom it May Concern,

It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Malachy Daughdrill, an exceptional

student athlete and young man who continually exhibits maturity and ethical behavior well beyond his
age. As his soccer coach at El Capitan High School (ECHS) I have had the privilege of watching him
come into his own over the last two years through exhibiting exceptional athletic performance and
commitment, growing his personal character, and the completion of high level work both on and off the
soccer field. I can therefore attest that he is a determined and industrious student.

Malachy exemplifies these traits in his athletic extracurricular activities as a member of both the
soccer and tennis teams at ECHS. Malachy’s leadership skills and perseverance have been highlighted
during the 2021-2022 soccer season where he contributed to our team's offensive production with 6 goals
and 3 assists. Prior to these accomplishments, Malachy faced adversity on the team by not playing as
much as he wanted to. Even amidst this disappointment, Malachy’s resiliency and continual work ethic at
practice day after day made a special impression on me and the coaching staff that it propelled his role on
the team from a rotational player to an automatic selection for playing the entirety of every game.
Malachy also learned that through personal struggle, he can elevate himself by focusing on where he is
and strategically planning towards his goals, however lofty.

Malachy’s ability to adapt and to push himself past limitations also earned him the honor of 2nd
team (one of the top 22 players) via the San Joaquin Section Central California Conference League.
Malachy maintained a 3.9 GPA during his time at ECHS, after graduation Malachy plans to attend
Merced Junior College, where he hopes to play soccer at the collegiate level, while earning enough credits
to transfer to UC Santa Barbara (UCSB). At UCSB Malachy hopes to Major in Marine Biology with the
intention of pursuing a career studying and rehabilitating marine wildlife.

Through these experiences, I have witnessed Malachy being not only humble, but honest and
dependable. It is evident by everyone he interacts with that Malachy maintains high standards for himself
and takes his future and goals very seriously. There is no doubt in my mind that Malachy will be a success
in whatever he chooses to do. It has been a pleasure having him as an inspirational student athlete.

Sincerely,
