Project Title

Section 1: My review of progress & achievement to date (SWOT in essay form Approx. 200 words)
own.
Hi, my name is Harrison Taylor and I’ve started a new project, which is also my final project, called
“Girl in the machine”. In my first project that I’ve done, I’ve been looking at different practitioners:
Stan, Brecht and Artaud and we have been exploring and using their acting techniques that they
made, that we use today. It was hard at first to this project because I used a lot of new websites, for
my work, that I have never used before, like Weebly and portfolio. But now I understand how to use
those websites from the help of my colleges. In my second project 2 we did our first group play
together called “Road”. In this project we used a lot of new techniques like: Physical theatre, chair
duets, and using a northern accent (since our play was set in the north). We did dress rehearsals, to
get us use to doing the play in full costume and help us to feel prepared for the play.

Section 2: Overview of the Collaborative Project (Approx. 150 words)

For this project, I am doing and performing a play called “Girl in the machine” which was written and
published by Stef Smith. During this project, I have been doing a lot of research into the play (so I
know more about the play) and done research about the production role that I did which was
Marketing. I’ve done research about what a marketer does, and I’ve also made thoughts about what
I’m going to do as a marketer throughout the play. I’ve been explaining to people and on my websites
my strengths and weakness that I have and how I’m going to improve my weaknesses for the play.
The other thing that I’ve been doing research on for this project is technology. I’ve been looking at the
usefulness of technology and how it helps us, but I’ve also looked at how technology can be
dangerous at times. I’ve been looking at future technology that could be useful for people for the
future. The reason why I’ve done research on technology is because our play is mainly based on a
prop that is a future technology.

Section 3: Your Proposed Contribution as a performer and other roles (approx 250 words
Through this project the projection role that I’ve mainly been doing is Marketing. A Marketer is
basically doing advertisements for the play like, so it can interest people to come and watch our play.
As being a marketer for the play, I have done things like make flyers for the play (which I mainly did
with my production team), I’ve done videos of myself advertising the play and I’ve helped make a
design for the main poster for the play. The reason why I decided to do this production role for this
project is because I like seeing flyers and posters that advertise plays (my dad has made quite a loin
the past) and I wanted to show my group my knowledge and passion of doing advertisements. The
other roles in the performance like costume, hair, makeup and lights I didn’t fancy doing them but
since a lot of my colleges did these production roles, I did want to give them support and comfort
them if they ever wanted any help or wanted me to give an opinion about their work. I’ve liked doing
the advertisements for the play especially because the flyer designs that I made for the play were the
flyers that were used. Even though I did find doing marketing easy and fun to do, there were times
where I was struggling, and I did need to ask my colleagues for help and for their opinion about my
work so I know what I’m doing well in and what I could do to make my work better.

Section 4: How I will record and evaluate my contribution and progress

throughout the project (approx. 100 words)

Every time that I got a piece of work to do, I reflected on what I had done, to make sure that it makes
since and that it reflects on the work topic that I’ve done. I’ve made sure that I kept up to date with all
my work, so I wouldn’t be behind with any of my work. When there were times through the project
that I didn’t have a clue about or if I wasn’t certain about, I asked my colleges or my teacher for help
so that I wouldn’t feel that I’m behind with anything and I can feel confident with my work. I have put
videos on my portfolio of myself doing script reading and any opinions that I have about the project.
5. Proposed Research Plan and Sources

Research is a great way to help people learn thins that they didn’t know before. The best thing about
doing research is that every piece of research that we find is true, meaning nothing is made up or
false. By doing research it has really helped me explore this project a lot because without doing
research I wouldn’t be able to do a lot of work about the project and if I needed to do my own facts
about the play, a lot of it probably won’t be right. Even though research is a great way to help us in
the project, I shouldn’t copy everything that I find on the internet because by doing that I wouldn’t be
learning anything, so the best thing to do is doing research on what I need to do, copy some bits from
the internet but also do my own thoughts about the project as well.
