1. • Inspect and clean your unit’s evaporator coils and condenser coils.
In place of a commercial cleaner, you can use a mild detergent and warm
water to clean the coils.
1) Turn the air conditioner off at the thermostat.
2) Place the panel and screws aside, where they won’t get lost or
separated.
3) Mix warm water and a simple detergent in a spray bottle, hand
sprayer, or garden sprayer.
4) Apply the water and detergent solution to the evaporator coils and
condenser coils.
5) Give the solution a few seconds to a few minutes to soak in and loosen
debris. Reapply as needed.
6) Wipe away the loose material with a soft cloth or brush.
3. ❖ Inspect refrigerant gas, lubricant, and oil levels. Do a leak test to check
for refrigerant gas leakage points using a soap bubble test.
• Soap Bubble Test
1) All you need here is warm water and soap. Mix the solution for a few
minutes. Once you have stirred it enough, send the solution through
your unit.
2) You will see air bubbles if your system has leaks. Mark off the areas so
it will be easier for the technician to identify where patches are
needed.
3) Just make sure you no corrosive elements are added to the air bubble
mix as these can wear down the components of your unit that might
lead to costly repairs.
