Abstract

The purpose of this report was to investigate the impact on the academics and personal rawness of

ISB students through their eating habits. An online survey of the daily eating habits of ISB students

was conducted. The results show that ISB students have a relatively unsteady diet, which leads to

adverse features in their studies and daily lives. It is recommended that the majority of ISB students

adjust their diets in order to enhance productivity in academics and in their daily lives.

Introduction

EAP5-112WSB-9
Eating has always played a crucial part in nourishing the body and sustaining human existence.

Therefore, the eating regime has always been a topic that researchers have always debated in the

past decades and it can also be considered a dilemma for many countries around the world.

Nowadays, unhealthy diets have appeared increasingly due to the rise of the fast-food industry

especially high-oil food. Moreover, the primary driver of this problem is the student's deficiency of

time, which have led to accidentally skipping meals and abusing fast food. In addition, over time,

improper eating may become a habit and cause a harmful impact critically on life, particularly on

education and daily life. Having a nutritious and healthful diet, on the other hand, will have

benefits.

According to a report of the World Health Organization (2018), most young people today have an

unhealthy eating pattern, which has a direct impact on their studies and daily life via the negative

effects of physical and mental health. Recent sociological research has indicated that consuming

fatty meals and carbonated beverages on a regular basis has a disadvantageous effect on the

progress of abilities such as language, numeracy, and reading (Perpetual Wellbeing, 2018).

Moreover, Poor nutrition can impair our daily health and wellness because it can contribute to the

risk of developing some illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, obesity and other health problems

(SAhealth, 2018).

Despite of the numerous conducted research already, additional studies are needed to investigate the

in-depth relationship between external and internal aspects so that readers can have a solid and

comprehensive view.

This article goal to know about ISB students eating habits and how they affected their education

same as private life. It was expected that the majority of tertiary students had unhealthy eating

habits and inadequate nourishment, which would have a detrimental influence on their academic

performance and appearance encompassing physical health.

Methodology

EAP5-112WSB-9
The study looked at students' dietary habits and how these influenced their educational performance

and their daily life. Fifty-seven students were chosen at random to participate in this study and also

the vast majority of ISB students were Vietnamese.

The research was carried out on December 8th, 2021. The survey instrument was in the form of a

questionnaire on Google Form. Among 57 subjects who participated in our research, 32 were

female, 20 were male, and 5 preferred not to say their gender. The sample's age varies from 18 to 20

years old and the fraction of first-year students was the highest.

After two days of disputing with three researchers, 20 pertinent closed questions were included in

the questionnaire. The first two questions were to inquire about participants' demographic

information, while the upcoming four questions were about their general dietsThe following nine

questions were asked to ISB students to find out how they felt about their eating behaviors. Another

set of three questions gathered information on their confidence in their attractiveness. Additionally,

the rest of the questions focused on how students perceived eating unhealthy food.

The questionnaire was answered online and was sent by social media such as Messenger, Instagram

and Gmail. After 16 hours of being surveyed, the questionnaire was closed. Each subject took about

5 minutes to answer and submit their responses. Google Form automatically collected all answers,

and only researchers could see them. The data comparison was made up, then gathered and

assessed. For analysis, the data was displayed in graphs and charts and translated to a percentage.

The table depicts the frequency of ISB students that omit meals.

It can be observed that the frequency of skipping lunch constitutes on regular basis a significant

number of 26 students, while the occasional skipping breakfast accounted for the largest number

with 30 students. Moreover, eating a full diet of 3 meals was equivalent to 16 and 17 students

respectively and was also the lowest frequency of all.

The pie chart indicates the frequent eating of fast food by ISB students

It was evident from the pie chart ISB students rarely ate fast food at 31.6% and constituted the most

significant number, whereas never consuming junk food made up the smallest number, which

accounted for only 3.5%. By contrast, there is a fairly large number of students 31.1% and 21.1%

use fast food from one to more during the week.

It is obvious that the highest rating of students was performance in learning with approximately 17-

24 students and they all felt that their diet had an average effect which are 17 students for ability to

focus, 22 students for the attendance, 24 pupils for learning performance and 23 pupils for felling

comfortable with their appearance. In addition, the most significant number belonged to students

who felt that 75% of the diet affected the above with 22, 18, 13, 18 students respectively in column

order.

aware it is bad.

to cheap junk food. In addition, the reason students do not care about their health accounts for

40.4% followed by 33.3% because of saving time.

EAP5-112WSB-9
Discussion

The primary goal of this study is to demonstrate ISB students' dietary behaviors and their

consequences on life, particularly academic performance and daily life. It is assumed that the

majority of college students have poor eating habits, which have a detrimental impact on their

lifestyle in the long term.

Looking at the specifics of the study, the results clearly reveal ISB students' harmful eating patterns

and are perfectly consistent with WHO research (2018). For starters, it can be revealed that ISB

students miss breakfast often, with 30 pupils skipping meals on a regular basis. According to Tata

Digital Health's (2020) research, missing breakfast is extremely unhealthy since it slows down

metabolism, makes the body fatigued, and makes it easy to acquire weight. As a result, skipping a

critical meal of the day will quickly reduce one's quality of life, and, according to WHO(2017),

skipping breakfast is a cause of underlying disorders that lead to cancer. In addition, the second

most important factor is the use of fast food. Statistically, it can be seen that the number of students

using fast food one to two times or more in a week is relatively high with 31.1% and 21.1

respectively. and with the dominant excuse for unhealthy eating is because it's their favorite dish.

Thus, this can lead to heart disease and obesity. Finally, chart 3 shows a high influence on the

learning as well as the self-confidence of ISB students. Nevertheless, with such an unhealthy diet

and its undeniable impact it can be concluded that learning and life will also be negatively affected

if the nutrition is not adjusting. As a result, if you want to achieve the best results in your studies as

well as be confident in your own appearance, equip yourself with a healthy eating habit.

The research was limited by the small sample size of just 20 questions and 57 participants. More

questions concerning the detrimental and beneficial consequences of students' eating habits should

be included in research consideration.
