cosmetic concern. It's a medical problem that increases the risk of other diseases and health

problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and certain cancers.

3
Research Objective

suffer from obesity

4
Methodology

Our method of collection data and information about out SBA topic we will be sending our

Questionnaire to various students online via Emails.

According to questionpro.com A Questionnaire is a research instrument that consists of a set of

questions or other types of prompts that aims to collect information from a respondent. A

research questionnaire is typically a mix of close-ended questions and open-ended questions.

The questionnaire will be a highly helpful tool for us to get data because it will require less

personal information about individuals, take little time to complete, and make gathering more

information much quicker and simpler.

There are various drawbacks to using questionnaires that we should be aware of, including

receiving unrealistic responses, reluctance to the questionnaire owing to potential sensitivity to

the issue, and reluctance to the questionnaire in general.

Our questionnaire has a total of 13 questions, being a mixture of Open-ended and Close-ended

questions all asking the recipient various questions about their obesity.

Analysis and Interpretation of Data

From the questionnaire conducted at total of 25 responses were collected from the

Meadowbrook High School population amongst the students that are considered overweight or

obese. the results deduced that the male population of Meadowbrook High school is more obese

than the female population with a percentage of 56% to 44%. The most popular age group

dealing with obesity is 14-16 at 46%, followed by 17-19 at 28% and 11-13 at 24%. The most

frequent BMI reading range is 25-29 at 50% of the respondents and the Highest range being 41

to 44 at 5%. Obesity affects the population mostly physically and socially and least,

academically and mentally. The students voted that over- eating, stress.inactivity and trauma as

the top 4 causes of their obesity. Fats and oils and Food from animals are the most consumed

food groups for the students. The top effects of obesity that the students have to deal with are:

Breathing problems at 10 votes, Low- self esteem at 9 votes, sleep apnea(snoring) and social

problems tied at 7 votes each. The data summarizes that the most affected age group is 14-16,

mostly affecting the male gender with the highest BMI of 41-44 and the most frequent at 25-29.

It can also be concluded that the average obese student at Meadowbrook High school is being

affected physically and mentally by this condition.

11
CONCLUSION

It can be concluded that the average age range of obesity at Meadowbrook High school is 14-16

and the frequent gender is male with an average BMI range of 25-29.The data also shows that the

students are mostly affected physically and The most consumed food group being food from

animals. It could be concluded that the reason for obesity among the population is overeating

which may be caused by trauma or stress; Health issues and Medication, genetics and inactivity

also play a huge role in the cause . In addition, breathing problems is the most voted issues

amongst the respondents.

12
RECOMMENDATIONS

Since physical issues were most frequent throughout the responses it would be recommended

that the respondents incorporate more physical activities in their daily life in order to reduce the

physical restraints and conditions on your body.As it regards to the mental issues which included

issues such as low-self esteem, seeking help via the guidance counselor provided by the school

or outside sources would be a good start to overcome those issues. Exercising and eating the

correct nutritional proportions recommended for you to battle the physical aspect and therapy to

combat the mental aspect of this condition would help to improve your life and your body.

13
REFLECTION

I, the researcher has learnt that obesity is a very sensitive condition as it not only affects

individuals physically but also mentally as it diminishes one’s view of self and it also

deteriorates ones health and that people with obesity experience symptoms such as sleep apnea,

breathing problems and difficulty moving. Eating from certain food groups will aid in the

gaining of weight. I would apply these lessons learnt by incorporating more physical activities in

my daily life. I believe the questionnaire could be improved based on the fact that not all

questions were structured properly hence not all questions were easily understood.A social

impact of obesity on the individuals school life, if not rectified would be that their would be a

heightened amount of discrimination. An economic impact in the community would be that their

would be a decrease in productivity.
