MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY – WEEK 3 & 4

ACTIVITY 1: VENN DIAGRAM
Information literacy is the ability to recognize when information is needed and to have the ability to locate,
evaluate, and use effectively the needed information.
Collection of skills requiring individuals to identify when knowledge is needed and have the ability to efficiently
find, assess and use the necessary information.
Media Literacy is the ability that includes understanding different types of media and the purpose for which
they can be used.
The ability to look at how you look at a person from your perspective.
The method by which media content is dissected for critical analysis.
Technology Literacy is the ability to use technology in the proper way to locate, evaluate, use, and create
information.
The ability to use effective technology to interact, solve problems, navigate, handle, incorporate, analyze,
develop and generate information to improve learning in all subject areas, and to gain lifelong knowledge and
skills in the 21st century.
Information and technology literacy are both responsible for using information effectively in digital
technology.
Information and Media Literacy: Both are in charge of analyzing and evaluating information in all forms of
media.
Media & Technology Literacy: Both are responsible for using technology to evaluate and produce
communication.
Information, Media & Technology Literacy: They are all responsible for creating and using information
effectively so that there will be communication.
All are being defined as abilities possessed by an individual.
All are linked to accessing, understanding, using, creating, and/or communicating media messages or
information.

ACTIVITY
1. We require information in order to have a complete picture of what is going on around us.
Information is an essential element in decision-making and problem-solving.
Information has a significant role in enriching scientific research and developing science and technology.
Information has a high importance in the field of economic, social, administrative, cultural and health
development.
Information assists us in transferring our experience to others and benefiting from available knowledge.
2. We search information on libraries, information centers, bookstores, websites for e-books, newspapers, books,
radio and TV programs, periodicals, databases, etc.
3. We acquire and store information by writing, printing, photocopying, photographing, downloading, recording,
storing information using external memory drives, memory cards, cloud storage, and we can acquire and store
information using our memory.
4. We will determine the quality and accuracy of the information that we have by verifying the information we
already know against the information found in the source. We can also look for disclaimers as to the accuracy of
the content. In addition to that, we can determine the quality and accuracy of the information we have by
making sure the source is written by a trustworthy author and/or institution.
5. People use information to seek meaning in a variety of situations. Sometimes we use information
instrumentally, to do something tangible (e.g., to acquire a skill or reach a goal). Other times, information is used
cognitively (e.g., to generate ideas). Yet in other cases, information is used in an affective manner (e.g., when an
individual uses information to feel supported or to derive pleasure). People also use information to confirm or
verify something that they know, to predict what may happen, and to develop or maintain personal
relationships.
6. We can communicate information through our facial expressions, gestures, pointing, using our hands, writing,
drawing, using equipment, e.g. text messages or computers, touch, eye contact, announcements, email, chat,
and face-to-face sessions.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION – WEEK 3 & 4
REFLECTIVE LEARNING
1. How can you differentiate dance steps of folk dance to dance motion that people do now?

- Folk dances are sometimes traditional. Usually the dancers wear special costumes and the dance was
performed in musical rhythms for religious acts or to portray different cultures of different regions.
- On the contrary, modern dance steps are mixed and evolved motions blended from different dances. The
steps are way freer than folk dances. Commonly, the dancers move freely based on their emotions.
- Modern dance steps change and do not necessarily have a uniform dance steps unlike folk dances.

2. How do folk dances contribute to the new generation of dance practices?

- Folk dances are one of the foundation of the new generation of dances. Folk dances are all about expressions,
either to show or foretell a specific culture or tradition or to perform a sacrilegious or religious acts. Folk dance
steps require uniformity, emotions or feelings, and content or message that the dancers want the audience to
see or feel while they were performing. The basics needed to execute a folk dance are the same with the
ingredients needed to create a modern dance today.
3. Folk dances are seen as significant since they contribute to the preservation of a culture. Folk dances have been
practiced for hundreds of years, and it is important to preserve this tradition. Folk dances are significant because
they help to maintain and pass down Philippine culture to future generations. They serve as a unifying factor for
the people of the Philippines. Folk dancing in the Philippines keeps people connected to their ancestors and
traditions. Folk dancing contributes to the preservation of people's cultural unity.
EARTH SCIENCE
WEEK 4
ACTIVITY 1
 The Moon rocks are mostly grayish, and include many basalts, and breccias (rocks made up of broken and
reassembled pieces), and mafic plutonic rocks from the highlands. This last type formed underground and were
pushed up by the forces that created the lunar mountain ranges. And I think that almost all the rocks at the
lunar surface or the different Moon rocks are igneous—they formed from the cooling of lava.
WHAT I HAVE LEARNED

1. I have learned that rocks are any solid mass of mineral or mineral-like matter occurring naturally as part of our
planet. Rocks are naturally-occurring consolidated substances, which may be made up of minerals, other rock
pieces, and fossil materials, such as shells or plants. Rocks are the result of various geological processes that
occur both at and beneath the Earth’s surface or, in the case of meteorites, in other parts of the Universe. Also, I
learned that rocks have three main types: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Rocks are classified
according to how they are formed. Igneous rocks are formed by the cooling or solidification of magma or lava.
Metamorphic rocks are formed by pre-existing rocks that are exposed to extreme heat and pressure in the
Earth’s interior, a process called metamorphism. And sedimentary rocks are formed by the compaction and
cementation of sediments, a process called lithification. Igneous rocks are further classified as intrusive or
extrusive igneous based on grain size where intrusive rocks, or plutonic rocks, are igneous rocks formed from
solidified magma underneath the earth while extrusive rocks, or volcanic rocks, are igneous rocks formed on the
surface of the earth. Sedimentary rocks are classified into clastic or non-clastic where clastic sedimentary rocks
are made up of sediments from pre-existing rocks while non-clastic sedimentary rocks can be biological,
chemical, or a combination of both. Metamorphic rocks can be classified as foliated or non-foliated based on
texture, where foliated metamorphic rocks have a layered or banded appearance produced by Regional
metamorphism and exposure to high temperatures and pressures, while non-foliated metamorphic rocks do not
have a layered appearance and have undergone contact metamorphism, where rocks are not exposed to the
intense pressure that is found deeper within the Earth. And lastly, I learned that the rock cycle is a process in
which rocks are continuously transformed between the three rock types: igneous, sedimentary, and
metamorphic. In addition, the conversion to metamorphic rocks require conditions of increased temperature
and/or increased pressure, conversion to sedimentary rocks occurs via the intermediate stage of sediments, and
conversion to igneous rocks occurs via the intermediate stage of magma. Subduction zones and regions where
two plates of continental lithosphere clash to form a mountain range produce increased temperature and
pressure, while sedimentary rocks deeply buried under more sediments produce increased pressure but not
temperature. When rocks are uplifted, weathered, and eroded, the detrital material that results are deposited in
marine or terrestrial basins. If the sediments are buried beneath layers of sediment, they can lithify and form a
sedimentary rock. When rocks melt, magma is formed. When a lithospheric plate subducts into the Earth's crust
at a subduction zone, or when a mid-ocean ridge opens up and causes decompression melting in the
asthenosphere beneath the ridge, this melting occurs. Igneous rock is when magma solidifies.

WEEK 4
ACTIVITY: I-BILIB
1. NOT. The quote in these graphic is made up and it is not the only one, some of the graphics in this category are
all made up and may have been meant to be a parody. There are also no news reports or official sources that
support the quotes and some of the personalities quoted were characters from works of fiction like King T’challa
that is also known as Black Panther, a fictional character and superhero appearing in American comic books
published by Marvel Comics.

of diplomatic relations did not mention Duterte’s supposed good governance at all. Instead, the Queen gave her
best wishes to the Filipino people and thanked Filipino nurses in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) for
bringing “exceptional care and comfort for their patients.” She also thanked Filipino frontliners in the UK for
their response during the COVID-19 pandemic.
ACTIVITY: IMPORTANT POINTS TO PONDER
I learned that Truth is the quality of being true to facts or reality. Truth is usually applied to anything that try to
represent reality or otherwise relate to it in everyday language, such as beliefs, propositions, and declarative sentences.
Falsehood is frequently seen as the polar opposite of truth.
I feel that Truth is important because the aim of belief is truth, and falsity is a fault. And in order to thrive, people need
to know the truth about the world. It is crucial to tell the truth. Believing something that isn't true is likely to derail
people's plans and possibly endanger their lives. Telling lies may result in legal and societal consequences. A committed
pursuit of truth, on the other hand, distinguishes the good scientist, the good historian, and the good detective.
I commit to uphold the truth by learning, experiencing, and speaking it. I pledge to uphold the truth by studying it both
personally and professionally, where I must not only know the truth mentally, but also integrate it so that it becomes my
experience.
ACTIVITY: EVERYDAY FALLACIES
Three common fallacies I noticed when my siblings are having conversations:
Appeal to Ignorance (Argumentum ad Ignorantiam)
Attacking the Person (Argumentum ad Hominem)
Appeal to Force (Argumentum ad Baculum)
Five Fallacies I noticed when I watched commercials on TV and news:
Critical Thinking Questions:
1. The common fallacies I commit as an alibi for my wrongdoing, or irresponsibility are Argumentum ad Hominem
(Attacking the Person) and Fallacy of Division
Argumentum ad Hominem “Attacking the Person”
2. Whenever I didn’t finish answering my modules on time and always stayed up all night answering them, my
elder sister would nag me about the time I wasted doing nothing instead of answering them, and that it’d be
better if I just answered my modules instead of wasting most of my time sleeping and lazing around our house.
Because I already get her point but am so tired of hearing the same reason for her nagging, I tell her an alibi that
the activities are so hard and that she won’t even understand it because she has never struggled to answer my
modules.
Fallacy of Division
3. Our aunt, who lives with us, asks why I always take longer than my siblings to finish a bath, causing me to waste
water because I always take longer than ten minutes to finish a bath, whilst my siblings take less than ten
minutes to finish their bath. And, because I didn't want to tell her that the reason I take a bath longer than my
siblings is because I always have a staring contest with the water first for minutes and waste the water by
playing with it, I give her an alibi that my siblings have fitter bodies and are more agile than me, so maybe that's
why they take a bath faster than me.
2. Yes, I think Fallacy can help us in finding the truth. A fallacy can be defined as a flaw or error in reasoning. At its
most basic, a logical fallacy refers to a defect in the reasoning of an argument that causes the conclusion(s) to be
invalid, unsound, or weak. The existence of a fallacy in a deductive argument makes the entire argument invalid.
The existence of a fallacy in an inductive argument weakens the argument but does not invalidate it. That is why,
it is important to study fallacies so you can avoid them in the arguments you make and help you find the truth
without much problem. Studying fallacies also provides you with a foundation for evaluating and critiquing other
arguments as well.
3. I think that the phenomenological method is the most useful in finding the truth among the methods in
philosophizing. It is because Phenomenology is a philosophy of experience. For phenomenology, the ultimate
source of all meaning and value is the lived experience of human beings. All philosophical systems, scientific
theories, or aesthetic judgments have the status of abstractions from the ebb and flow of the lived world. And
the task of the philosopher, according to phenomenology, is to describe the structures of experience, in
particular consciousness, the imagination, relations with other persons, and the situatedness of the human
subject in society and history.

PRACTICAL RESEARCH 2
WEEK 4
Acti vity 2: tell me about your problems!
There are several current events and topics that directly influence and bother our communities. The common concerns
that were raised when I performed an online and offline survey are:
 The state of the nation's general health-care system, including the COVID-19 pandemic and other people's
morbidities
 The state of the country's overall education system - how has the pandemic impacted the educational system
and children's educational quality?
 Mental Health Issues – How the COVID-19 pandemic has affected people's mental health.
 Working conditions and income.
 Sleeping habits of students during pandemic.
 Rising teenage pregnancy cases during pandemic.

What I Have Learned

1. It's important because choosing a topic that's relevant, significant, and interesting can prove that your research topic
is easy to understand and learn, as well as make your readers invested in it.

2. It helps you in narrowing your topic by determining how much information is available and, as a result, what can be
accomplished within the page constraints you have been given. It assists you in determining whether precise features of
your topic warrant further investigation.

3. Usually this means narrowing the scope. This results in a more focused piece of research, which produces better
findings and saves the writer a lot of time (and later, pages) going over old ground.

Pagsuko at Pahinga

At marami tayong hinila at patuloy

Hindi man natin

kompanya, eskuwelahan, at iba pa.

mahalagang impormasyon, gawain, tungkulin o utos.
isang mahalagang impormasyon, Gawain, tungkulin o utos.

At

simula, gitna hanggang katapusan.
Kalikasan Pormal at di pormal.

napag-usapan at makatotohanan.
