OPERATING PRINCIPLES
Roller (Plate Heater Exit) Roller (Plate Heater In) Loop Sensor
Vertical Roller
2. The Roll Paper Set Sensor detects the roll paper. (If the roll paper runs out while being
fed, the Roll Paper End Sensor detects the end of paper.)
3. Roll Motor drives the Upper Decurl Roller and Vertical Roller to feed roll paper. At this
point, the Upper Decurl Roller eliminates the curl of roll paper.
4. The Roll Motor stops when the leading edge of roll paper is detected by the Paper
Edge Sensor.
5. The Roll Motor and PF Motor activate to feed the roll paper. The PF Motor drives the
main roller.
6. Once the main roller nips the end of the roll paper, the PF Motor stops. The Roll Motor
continues to run creating slack in the roll paper.
7. The Roll Motor stops when the slack of the roll paper is detected by the Loop Sensor.
8. The Roll Motor and PF Motor activate to feed the roll paper into the Cutter ASSY.
Here, the PF Motor drives the Roller (Plate Heater In), Sponge Roller A (Plate Heater),
Sponge Roller B (Plate Heater), and Roller (Plate Heater Exit) to feed paper.
13. The PF Motor also activates and rewinds the roll paper until the end of the roll paper
reaches the print start position.

4.1 Overview
Unless otherwise specified, disassembled units or components reassembled by reversing the
disassembly procedure.
4.1.1 Precautions
WARNING
• Always wear gloves for disassembly and reassembly to avoid injury from sharp metal
edges.
• Make sure to unplug the AC cable before disassembly/reassembly because high voltage
current flows through some parts of this printer and touching such parts directly may
result in electric shock and failure of the printer.
• Do not move the Print Head Unit manually when the main power switch is ON unless you
are handling an emergency situation or trouble such as a paper jam.
CAUTION
• Make sufficient work space for servicing.
• Locate the printer on a stable and flat surface.
• Use only recommended tools for disassembly, assembly or adjustment of the printer.
• When an air duster is used in repair or maintenance work, the use of air duster products
containing inflammable gas is prohibited.
• Be careful not to soil the printer or the floor with the leaked ink when removing the
ink-path-related components or parts. Spread a sheet of paper or cloth on the floor in
advance.
• Do not touch electrical circuit boards with bare hands as the elements on the board are
so sensitive that they can be easily damaged by static electricity. If you have to handle
the boards with bare hands, use static electricity discharge equipment such as anti-
static wrist straps.
• When reassembling the printer, make sure to connect the connectors of the electric
components or parts correctly and securely. Use extreme care when connecting
FFCs (flexible flat cables). Improper connection of the FFCs, such as inserting them
diagonally into the connectors, could cause short-circuiting and lead to breakdown of
the electric elements on the boards.
• Be careful not to get the FFCs disconnected.
• Secure the FFCs to the frame with clothespins etc.
• When connecting/disconnecting the FFCs to/from the connectors, follow the
precautions below. Otherwise the board may be damaged.
• Insert the FFC terminal firmly into the connector.
• Do not damage the metallic foil of the FFC terminal.
• Before applying current, confirm there is no slant connection of the FFC.
• Do not fold the FFC at other than the original folds.
• Do not distort the reinforcing plate of the FFC terminal.
CAUTION
• When reassembling the printer, make sure to route the FFCs and other cables as
specified in this chapter. (Failure to do so may cause an unexpected contact of the
cables with sharp metal edges, or lead to lower the noise immunity.)
• When the printer has to be operated with the covers removed, take extra care not to get
your fingers or clothes caught in moving parts.
• The cutter blade is razor-sharp. Be especially careful when handling the cutter.
• When you removed any parts (especially cables) that are secured with tape, double-
sided tape, clamp or banding band, be sure to reinstall and secure them with the tape as
exactly the same as they were.
• Disassembling the frame and some components of the printer is prohibited because
they are assembled with precise measurements in 1/100 mm unit at the factory.

Normal
Recover from ink misfire caused by air bubbles in the nozzle.
Power
Use this setting if you execute [Normal] three times and the nozzle still does not recover.
Ultra power
Use this setting if the nozzle cannot recover from ink misfiring with [Normal] and [Power].
As ultra power recovers from ink misfiring caused by foreign matter stick to the nozzle, it
repeatedly supplies and emits powerful ink. Therefore, ink misfiring may occur due to air
bubbles remaining inside the print head. If ink mifiring worsens after ultra power cleaning,
perform normal cleaning or strong cleaning to expel the air bubbles.
