INVESTIGATORY PROJECTS
Guidelines for Project Work: Each of the students are supposed to pick a project of their
choice on which they want to work as suggested in cbse site. The project should be hand
written and hass to have atleast 20-25 pages. This should include all the steps involved in
Experimental/ investigatory projects, beginning from the:

• Suitable title
• Introduction
• Theory involved
• Materials required (Chemicals and apparatus)
• Procedures / Experimental set up
• Observations
• Generating results/ conclusions using the data obtained
• Scope of further research
• Bibliography
Some suggested projects are as follows:
➢ Determination of the contents of cold drinks
➢ Measuring the amount of acetic acid in the vinegar by titration with an indicator
solution.
➢ Determination of caffeine in tea samples
➢ Extraction of essential oils
➢ Preparation of Aspirin
➢ Preparation of potash alum from scrap aluminium
➢ Preparation of paints/ dyes
➢ Study of effect of metal coupling on rate of corrosion
➢ Study of Sterilization of water using bleaching powder
➢ Variation of Conductance with temperature in electrolytes
➢ Preparation of Biodiesel
➢ Determination of contents of tooth paste
➢ Comparison of lactose percentage in whole milk and powdered milk.
➢ Analysis of Honey
➢ Study of Aldol Condensation
➢ To study the presence of oxalate ions in Guava
➢ To study the presence of insecticides and pesticides in fruits and vegetables
➢ To compare the rate of fermentation
➢ To study the content of ascorbic acid in citrus fruits
➢ Preparation of soaps
➢ Preparation of soybean milk
➢ To study the amount of casein in different samples of milk
➢ Investigation of foaming capacity of different washing soap
➢ Measuring Solubility of Saturated Solutions
➢ To study the setting of cement
➢ To Determine which Antacid could Neutralize the most stomach Acid.
Please note that these are some suggested topics but students can come up with their
own ideas and work on that project as well which are related to their course. Also,
students can refer to their lab manuals and or icbse site.
It is suggested that a particular topic should be chosen by not more than two students pf a
particular class and section, to avoid repetition of work and each of those two students
having same topic of project has to present it separately as it is an individual project work.
