Problem
-In India, agriculture is the main source of livelihood in rural areas and it is dependent
on land size. But, 57 out of 70 families owns no land.

-Also, other sources of livelihood are poultry, dairy and goat rearing, which is not
possible for majority of the families due to unavailability of resources.

-Out of 70 respondents, number of female household head is only 10, which clearly
depicts lack of women encouragement.

Livelihood enhancement through capacity building of women

Taking the prices of handmade liquid soap in Indian market and fixing competitive prices

Assuming per day production capacity = 50 L per member and Infrastructure rent per month =
1500 INR
Raw material cost for 1L soap = 24.55 INR
Labour cost per member per day= 350 INR
A total of 10 member can work per day thus,

Total labour cost per day= 3500 INR, Total Production per day= 500 L, Rent per day= 50 INR
Total cost per day per litre soap = 31.65 INR

Selling price for 1L product = 40 INR

Profit per litre of soap = 8.35 INR, Total profit per month = 125250 INR
