Focusing on the Importance of Music in your Life

Every time I struck the tiles of the natural keys, it implies the experiences of my life that I have
been through. Along the way, every time I struck the tiles of the sharp keys, it implies the
success or the ups of my life. And in the end of my journey, every time I struck the tiles of the
flat keys, it implies the challenges or the downs that I had experienced in my life. Whenever I
play them, every time I struck any keys of the piano, it is an expression that I can not express
through communicating with someone else. Music is an escape in everything in general, but
why? In times of distress, a touch of heavy struck in the tiles is an expression of my rage,
madness, and all negative things that I had experienced from the past and so are the current
situation that I am facing. However, every time I feel happy, or positive things, a struck of soft
and gentle touch in the tiles. Even a person that probably has no experience in playing the piano,
I bet she will feel the emotion and what I wanted to tell her through music. An example of this
based on my experience, there was this lady in front near of the altar, and I play the song
entitled,” In my heart”. Even though she was not able to understand what am I playing, she may
be able to understand the message. And the lady cried, and when I look at her she nodded at me
while the tears dropping on her face. This is the power of music, the inner problems we are
experiencing once some good music touched our hearts. It does help our inner self to regain,
heal, the part of ourselves that has been devoured because of the bad experiences we had before.
Music is really important to me, because this is a way for me to express myself every time I
cannot able to hold onto the things I cannot bear with. Music is a language that everyone can
understand, whatever your color, race, skin, nationality, religion, and such. And as what a movie
entitled August Rush’s quote, “Music is all around us, all you have to do is to listen. “ Which
means in a simple word, every time that the birds tweets it is a music, every time that the wind
blows it is a music, every time that our heart beats it is a music. Music nurtured and developed
me from my introvert self and to be called as one of the three elite liturgical pianist in the
Diocese of La Union courtesy by a great musician priest of La Union, a boy that cannot perform
in a large crowd, and now a man that can already perform in a large crowd in the Cathedral and
as well as the other Churches. Music speaks from our souls, minds and hearts that a man could
ever understand, despite of our differences music means only one thing, that is to spread love.
Music is also bridge for me to bring this back to God, through “Amare et Servire”- to love and
serve the Lord. The gift that He bestowed upon me, must also use to positive things such as
teaching piano lessons, accompanying the choir at every churches that I may enter, and this
service that I am doing is without expecting any cost.
