B. MOTIVATION

Before we start the lesson, we will be reading

a short story. (Students reads the short story).
After reading the short story I have a few
questions about it. Are you ready? Yes, Sir!

The Story:

Mang tunying and Aling Nene own a laundry

shop in Barangay Tilapayong, Baliuag,
Bulacan. Their laundry shop offers a variety of
services like hand washing, machine washed
and ironing clothes. One of the unique things
about their shop is that it is the only shop in
town that used banana leaves in ironing
clothes. As well all know banana leaves give
extra shine in the clothes. And because of the
quality service that their shop offers, many of
their customers keep on coming back to their
shop.

After reading the short story, what you noticed

about the picture? Can you describe and tell
something about it?

Sir, I have noticed the iron she uses it is

the old way to iron clothes.

Yes, that correct in old days we use old iron

with the charcoal on it because its old times we
have no electricity from our places.
C. Presentation of the Lesson
We continue the story …..
Mang Tunying and Aling Nene have newly
hired workers namely Hanna and Aimee. The
couple that the two newly hired employees are
trying their best to learn the job.
On the first day in the laundry shop, Aling
Nene toured them to the shop and told Hanna
and Aimee to observe everything in the shop
from washing yup to ironing the clothes.
Hanna asked Aling Nene; “Ma’am why our
shop offers hand washing and using banana
leaves in ironing clothes? As far as I know our
shop is the only shop here in Baliwag which
offers hand washing and uses banana leaves in
ironing clothes”., “Those are the reasons why
our customers are keep on coming back”.,
Aling Nene replied. As a matter of fact, we
used charcoal iron even before tie that
electricity was not available yet in our town.”
She added. “Wow! I wish to see and use them
in ironing.” Hannah answered.
Aling Nene assigned Hanna and Aimee to
press the clothes given by the customer on that
day. Aling Nene told them, “ For us to achieve
and provide quality service to our clients , both
of you need to know the uses of tools,
materials and equipment in ironing.
Come with me and I’ll show it to you!
Aling nene said “Hanna and Aimee , have your
tickler and ballpen ready and I will discuss to
both of you the tools you need to use in ironing
clothes”.

especially when you are ironing them. Place
the cloth between the delicate fabric and the
iron then you can iron it safely.
And lastly what is this?
Sir! Banana

Have you experience using banana leaves in

ironing clothes? What is the purpose why To give extra shine and glossy effect on
people use banana leaves in ironing clothes? the clothes.

Yes, that’s correct Banana leaves it gives extra

shine or glossy effect and smooth texture to the
clothes when putting the flat iron on it before
pressing the clothes.
But always remember ironing is a used
machine, usually a heated tool necessary
remove wrinkles from fabric. The heating is
commonly done to a temperature of 180-220
Celsius depending on the fabric.
A tool is a device or implement that used to
carry out a particular function.
An equipment is designed only a specific task.
And lastly, Supplies is to provide with
something needed or wants.

D. Generalization
Why is important to know the tools, equipment
and supplies in ironing clothes?
Sir, ironing clothes correctly will extend
the life of the clothes and decrease the
need to have them professionally pressed,
saving you a good bit of time and money.
 Sir! When our clothes are being ironed it
is better in feeling and outside appearance.
Yes, that’s all correct it is important to know
the tools, equipment and supplies in ironing
clothes.
