LAUNCESTON BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION

OPERATIONS MANAGER – POSITION DESCRIPTION


Position reports to General Manager
Location Elphin Sports Centre and other sites within the Greater Launceston area (Newstead
College, Launceston College, Silverdome, YMCA Complex, St Pats)
Work Hours and Conditions of • Full time, 38 hours per week
Employment • Varied times based on business needs including regular evenings and
weekends
Renumeration $26.47 per hour to be paid weekly
Position responsibilities • Competition management, including fixture adjustments, team and player
profile management, court utilisation and optimisation
• Co-ordination of meetings between various stakeholders and individual
members, i.e. club, board, and stakeholder forums
• Calendar planning for competition and operational needs (such as audits,
reporting requirements)
• Coaching of junior programs, such as Aussie Hoops
• Reconciliations of banking accounts in account platform Xero
• Match Managing/Venue Supervising during competition
• PIC for Association activities whilst on duty
• Responding to email, website and social media enquiries
• Posting to social media streams including Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok,
Instagram and LinkedIn
• Meeting with club executives, sponsors, government and other
stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes
• Grant writing and collecting of supporting evidence to secure funding
• Acting General Manager for periods of leave coverage
• Other duties as specified by the General Manager
Selection Criteria - Essential • Excellent communication skill and ability to sell the sport of basketball
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
• Ability to work in high pressure situations whilst maintaining a calm and
reasonable persona
• Ability to facilitate conflict resolution and achieve appropriate outcomes
in alignment with LBA By Laws and game rules
• Possess strong proactive communication skills, both verbal and written,
with the capacity to communicate information and recommendations
accurately, clearly and succinctly
• Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse
range of people
• Proven ability to work as a part of a team to deliver outcomes
• Excellent time management skills
• Current Working with Vulnerable People card
• Driver’s licence
Selection Criteria - Desirable • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Basketball
• Demonstrated experience in a not for profit or similar organization
• Demonstrated experience in Sporting competition management and
rostering
• Intermediate level of computer skills in PlayHQ, Glory League, Teampay,
RefBook, MailChimp, Squarespace, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or
the capacity to rapidly acquire competency
• Possess strong relationship management skills and the ability to work with
a diverse range of stakeholders
• First Aid Certificate
• Community Level Referee qualification or higher
