Contents of Workshop Practice Report

Report Writing:

The student is required to make a report giving details of the job he/she has done according to
the format in the manual. Report submission is in three to four phases. Dates of the submission
will be given in the hand out.

Contents of Workshop Practice Report

1) Report on Metal Working Lathe:


a) The final sketches of work piece obtained and specified in drawing.
b) Process Sequence to achieve this from raw material.
c) Basic Lathe machine constructional sketch.
d) Details of Work holding devices like 3 jaw and 4 jaw chuck.
e) Carriage and Apron Mechanism.
f) Back gear Mechanism.
g) Steady and follower rests.
h) Single point cutting tool geometry.
i) Operations like Turing, facing, thread cutting, knurling, parting, taper turning etc.

2) Report on Fitting.
a) Job sketch with proper sequence of operations.
b) Details of files and measuring ,inspection and other tools used.
c) Work holding device for fitting i.e. Bench-Vice

3) Report on ARC Welding


a) Job sketch with proper sequence of operations including edge preparation.
b) Details of ARC welding.
c) Set up for ARC welding, gas welding with specifications.

e) Difference between welding, brazing and soldering.
f) Welding safety devices and their use.
