Session Title Domain 1: School Leadership


Strand No. 1. Developing and Communicating Vision, Mission, Goals
and Objectives (VMGO)
Duration of the Day 1: 12:30-2:30 P.M.
Session ( 2 hours)
Key Understandings  School Heads are competent, committed, and accountable in
to be Developed providing access to quality and relevant education for all through
transformational leadership and high degree of professionalism.
 A vision is an imagined ideal situation in the future. The vision
statement describes the desired results.
 Vision is continuous while goals end.
 Objectives are detailed statements of quantitatively or qualitatively
measurable results the plan hopes to accomplish.
 VMGO crafting is necessary in setting the strategic directions of the
school organization.
 As provided for by the law RA 9155 of 2001 Chapter 1. Sec.7.Powers,
Duties and Functions. Letter E School Heads .no.10, which states that
establishing school and community networks and encouraging the
active participation of teachers organizations, non-academic
personnel of public schools , and the parents –teachers-community
association, which compels the school head to communicating the
school’s vision, mission, goals and objectives.
Learning Objectives Given various learning exposures aligned to the topic at hand the school
heads:
Know:
Recall the seven domains of the National Competency-based Standards
for School Heads (NCBSSH) and its corresponding strands and indicators.
Commit to memory the One DepEd Vision, Mission, Goals and
Objectives (VMGO) as per DO 36, s. 2013.
Understand:
Exemplify the need to have a clear vision, mission, goals and objectives
in relevance to leading and managing the school operations.
Do:
Create a real 5 PPT slides to present your advocacy plan of the school’s
VMGO to all the education segments of the community.

Introductory Activity Present the National Competency-Based Standards for School Heads –
(Optional) (20 mins.) Principles and the 7 domains and introduce Project SHAPE. (10 minutes)

Game: ( 10 minutes)
 Instructions: There will be 5 talking sticks. Every time the facilitator
will say touch the talking stick, it will listen only to the ____ number
of tribe members, the participants will touch the stick considering
the given number. The game continues until it reached the desired
number to form a group. Once the desired numbers of tribe
members are formed, ( 10 members to 5 groups) you give a name to
your tribe, choose the tribe leader and the scribe and reporter to
present the group’s output later.
 Did you enjoy the game? Why? Why not?
Activity (10 mins.) Movie clip watching (Kingdom of Heaven) 2.4.minutes
 This afternoon we will watch a movie clip Kingdom of Heaven. Does
anyone of you seen the movie? ( Yes, No) While watching the clip
please bear in mind the questions listed in your group’s brown
paper.

Analysis (20 mins.) A. Process the answers provided by the groups. Look for common key
words and ask additional questions to process the activity provided.
B. Additional Questions:
 What are the important traits of knighthood that Godfrey reminded
his son Billian?
 What is his vision for his son?
 What is Billian’s Mission?
 What do you think did Billian do to realize his mission?
 Do you think schools can be Kingdoms of Heaven? Why or Why not?
