GAUGECUTTER

It is used :

- to calibrate the.tubing,
- to locate reductions and landing nipples,
- to remove paraffin wax and other deposits
from the tubing wall s,
- to determine the profile of a bridge --
(this method allows the profile of the
deposit to be drawn and therefore the
amount of solvent necessary to remove it
'-
can be computed).

SCRATCHERS

Scratchers are made from a piece of sucker rod drilled

with a series of holes along 4 generatrices.

Pieces of wire line are inserted in these holes, the

length depending on the tubing ID.

- The tool is used to scrape the tubing wall. It can also

be used to clean landing nipples, to fish small pieces
of wire line lying loose in the well... etc.

Scratchers are generally used before running a Gauge Cutter.

IMPRESSION
BLOCK
A lead-filled cylinder whith a pin through the leaded section
to prevent losing the lead, is a useful tool during fishing
operation to ascertain the shape, position and size of the top
of the fish. It indicates the type of tool necessary for the
next operation.
It is run without knuckle joint to avoid getting a false impres-
sion.
One good hammer down only.
It is most important that the lead is all in one piece.

SANDBAILERS

They are used :

- to remove sand, mud, salt or small pieces of

junk from the tubing or casing

- to clean fishing necks and ~o take samples.

The well must be shut in to avoid flushing out the pump.

To bail, move down slowly on to the obstruction, move up

.......
quickly (repeat at least 15 times), if the sediment is
too hard or sol id to be bailed, sol vents can be dropped
down the well first.

HYDROSTATIC
BAILERS

OTIS type "8"

They are used when the substance to be bailed
cannot be removed by a pump type bailer. This
is sometimes the case when small metallic par-
VALVEti
"AUTOMATlC"BLEED cl es become lodged on top of the dogs of a
lock mandre l ... etc
The tool is made of a cylinder, about 5 feet
long, with a shear di sc mechanism at the bottom.
The cylinder is at atmospheric pressure sealed-
off from well pressure with "0" ri ngs. When
the obstruction is reached, the shear disc is
sheared by downward jarring ( 5 times); different
size skirts can be fitted for different tubing
and tool sizes.
Also di ffer.ent thi cknesses of di sc for di fferent
well pressure ranges (discs are made of brass)
are available;

1/32" (O,8mm) up to 3 700 psi1~260 Kg/cm2)

1/16" (1,6mm) " 7 400 " (520 Kg/cm2)
3/32" (2,4mm) " 11 000 " (780 Kg/cm2) DISC THICKNESS

FLOPETROL

CAUTION : As the lubricator is bled off to atmospheric

pressure, the seal plug of the automatic
bleed valve should be forced into the recess
of the safety screw.
If not, back out the cup point screw a few
turns to release the pressure. Then, force
the bottom non return steel ball off its
seat with a screw driver. Bailer can then
be opened.
