LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEET NO. 7

MINI-RESEARCH

OBJECTIVE: Formulates statistical mini- research.

LEARNING ACTIVITY:
A GUIDELINE TO WRITE MINI-PAPER/RESEARCH PAPER
I. INTRODUCTION
 State the purpose of the study.
 State why the question is important
 State the issues involved
 State how answering the question will help us

II. PROBLEM
 State the research questions you are trying to answer

III. PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION OF DATA

 State your answer to your research question
 State and elaborate on how, explain how, illustrate how each of the sources
you previously reviewed help you answer your research question

IV. Data Analysis and Interpretation

 State your data analysis and interpretation

V. Conclusion and Recommendation

 State the conclusions regarding your topic you have reached from having
surveyed, interpreted, evaluated the literature
 Indicate how each of the sources have contributed to your conclusions (and
clearly, accurately, correctly document those sources within your text)
 State the implications of your conclusions
 State what might be the possible consequences of your conclusions
 State the social significance these implications and consequences might have

Example:
I. Introduction
The research is about Quiz #3 for the Fourth Quarter. It includes the topics
about Grouped Data of Quartile, Decile and Percentile.

II. Problem
1. Performance of Grade 10 - St. John in Mathematics Quiz #3 for the Fourth
Quarter.
a.) What is the performance of Grade 10- St. John. In Mathematics Quiz #3 for
the Fourth Quarter?
b.) How many students passed the Mathematics Quiz #3, if the passing score
belongs to the Third Quartile?
c.) What is the Percentile Rank of each member of the group in Mathematics
Quiz #3?
III. Presentation and Discussion of Data
Table 1: Frequency and Discussion Table on the Performance of Grade 10- St,
John in Mathematics Quiz #3 for the Fourth Quarter
Class Interval Tally f x fx <cf Class
Boundary

2-3 l 1 2.5 2.5 1 1.5-3.5
N=37 ∑fx=296.5

Discussion: For table 1 First we getting the class interval 2 nd the tally 3rd the frequency 4th
the x ,5th the frequency of x 6th the cumulative

frequency and the last is the class boundary. This table 1 show the Performance of grade
10 St. john that includes the scores of each student in the class.

Table 2: Mastery Level of Grade 10-St. John Mathematics

∑fx N x‾ Compound Mastery

Level

Table 3: Shows the passing score belongs to the Third Quartile in Grade 10-St. John

Table 4: Shows the Percentile Rank of each member of the group

Name Score Percentile Rank

Eresmas, Adams B. 9 71%
Sta. Maria, John Kevin G. 11 80%
Bernardo, Jessica B. 7 42%
Gonzaga, Rica Mae D. 5 17%
Victoria, Catherine Anne B. 12 84%
Vitto, Jerissa Mae R. 8 56%

IV. Data Analysis and Interpretation

a.) 71% is lower than 9
b.) 80% is lower than 11
c.) 42% is lower than 7
d.) 17% is lower than 5
e.) 84% is lower than 12
f.) 56% is lower than 8

V. Conclusion and Recommendation

Based on the result, it was affirmed that Grade 10- St. John performance got a
lower percent of mastery level on Quiz no. 3 for the Fourth Quarter, because there
are such students who did not get a passing score.

PRACTICE EXERCISES:

Conduct a survey among 15 of your classmates regarding their 1st Quarter Grade in
Mathematics. Tally the responses, do a frequency count and complete the table below.

EVALUATION:
Using the data in the “Practice Exercise” analyze the data using descriptive statistics
and interpret the results. Write your report following the given format below.
