1 FLASHING SIGNALS ON THE PANEL

There are three types of flashing signals on the MP5001 control panel:

- I/Os display
- system status display
- breakdown diagnostic.

The control board LEDs display the panel inputs and outputs.

On the contrary, the CPU’s LEDs display the system status along with the detected
breakdowns (see the picture below).

CPU board detail

DL1 = power supply presence

DL5
DL6
DL1
DL2
DL3
DL4
DL2 = DL2 = running program
DL3÷DL6 = status of the system / breakdown

SW3

SW1

SW2
SW1 = black button
SW2 = red button
SW3 = slide switch

When the panel is powered, DL1 and DL2 must always be on. When DL1 is on, it indicates
that power is being supplied to the CPU and when DL2 is on, it indicates that the program is
running.

1.2 System status display

The system can be running, can be temporarily locked due to a fault or it can be out of order
because of a serious problem.
The status of the elevator is continuously displayed (unless the failure diagnostic is being
consulted)
when the control board is powered and the slide switch SW3 is in the upper position.

The four yellow LEDs DL3÷DL6 installed on the CPU board show the status; the meaning of
the indications supplied by the LEDs is summarised in the tables below and described in
more details in the following paragraphs.

2 DIAGNOSTIC AND IDENTIFICATION OF MALFUNCTIONS

The diagnostic function makes it possible to see which faults have occurred since the last power
failure.
Push for a few seconds the SW2 red button on the CPU with the SW3 slide switch in upper position to
view faults.
Once the button has been pressed, the four yellow LEDs DL3÷DL6 on the CPU show, in a 1-to-15
sequence, the diagnostic codes of the faults that occurred; each fault is displayed for half a second
and, at the end of the sequence, the display will start again from the first fault on the list.
If, after having selected the display of faults with the SW2 red button, the yellow LEDs DL3÷DL6 flash
all together four times, it means that no fault has been memorized; when they stop flashing, the yellow
LEDs will display again the status of the elevator.
Once selected, the display of faults lasts four minutes; after that, the LEDs will display again the
system status (see “Flashing signals on the panel” page 10).
Faults are represented by a binary code whose meaning is reported in the table below:

Encoding of faults displayed by the diagnostic

Code Status of the Detected fault

car will automatically perform the power factor correction run and resume service. If the operations
are not performed in the correct order, the elevator shall not resume its normal operation. In this case
it is necessary to go back into the shaft, place the elevator in maintenance operation and follow the
correct procedure from the beginning.

Note: This operation is not necessary if the elevator has a reduced header.

Warning! On elevators with software from version 5 release 1 up to version 7 release 0, after the
above-mentioned operations, it is also necessary to push the PU1 button on the control board. This
operation is always necessary if the elevator has a reduced header (managed by software 14 version
0) as it is requested by future regulations EN81/21.

Warning! On elevators with software up to version 5 release 0 the elevator car does not automatically
perform the power factor correction run, but only following the recording of a call.

2.3 Resetting the system after the antipatinage system intervention (ATNP)

If for any reason (rope slipping, motor starts with only two strokes etc.), during a trip, the elevator car
does not encounter any magnetic unit for a certain time (see “Adjustment and modification of
parameters § 3.23),the antipatinage system intervenes: the system goes out-of-order and remains
such, even in case of power outage, until it is manually restored. Following the antipatinage system
(ATNP) intervention, the hydraulic systems are brought to the lowest landing.
To resume the service of the system, press the PU1 button on the control board.
The antipatinage system intervention is signalled by the quick flashing of the DL5 LED on the CPU
board (see “Flashing signals on the panel” page 11); Untill SW version 17 rel 10 it is also memorised
in diagnostic as “fault number 2” (see “Diagnostic and identification of malfunctions” ).

2.4 Resetting the hydraulic system after the intervention of the limit switch (FC)

If for any reason, the hydraulic system ends in overrun high up, the system will go out of service and
will remain so until it is manually restored. The system will remain out of service also after a
temporary lack of input voltage and also if the elevator car descends as far as to disengage the over-
stroke sensor, due to the cooling of the oil.
To put the system back into service press the PU1 button on the control board; subsequently the
system will perform an automatic power factor correction run on the lowest landing.
The intervention of the limit switch is signalled by the fast flashing of the DL4 LED on the CPU board;
moreover, until the elevator car engages the over-stroke sensor all the green LEDs of the safety
series on the control board are off and the green LED G1 is on.

2.5 DSBD bridge

Bypassing the landing doors contacts with a simple bridge implies the possibility that it could be
forgotten on the elevator, at the end of the operations, with obvious risks for the users.
In order to avoid this risk, the OTIS Worldwide Job Site Safety Standards require that the elevators
can only move in inspection mode when landing doors contacts are short-circuited. In accordance
with the WWJSSS, the adopted DSBD device, allows the short-circuiting of the doors’ contacts in
order for the elevator to move only in inspection. All the MP5001SE07 controllers feature a connector
which can be placed in two positions: JN or JKM.
Normally the connector is in JN position (visible “NORMAL” label): the safety series is closed and the
elevator is in normal operation. By removing the connector from the JN position and putting it in the
JKM position (visible “INSPECTION” label) the landing doors lock contacts are short-circuited, the
safety circuit is interrupted and the elevator can move only when the TOCI box rotary switch is in
“inspection” position.
The position of the JN and JKM sockets prevents the simultaneous insertion of two connectors.

2.6 Landing doors locking contacts efficiency test

The controller’s software automatically controls that at each stop of the elevator when the doors have
reached the complete opening position, the safety contacts of the landing doors are open. In order to
enable this control, in the MP5001SE07 boards it has been necessary to invert the traditional
connection order of the doors safety contacts.

Note: the above description applies only to elevators with automatic landing doors. On elevators with
wings landing doors or with retiring cam, the doors contacts are connected in the traditional order and
the test is not performed.

If the contact of a landing door is short-circuited or faulty, the elevator is put out of service and the
diagnostic will display fault number 7.

The elevator remains at the floor where the faulty contact has been identified.

Note: The hydraulic elevator with software version 17, review 0 and up to version 17 review 4, after
15 minutes will move to the lowest floor.

The mechanic working on the elevator, must first of all, fix the malfunction. To do so it is possible to
move the elevator car in inspection or ERO using the DSBD bridge.

After the repair the mechanic must push button PU1 on the control board to reset the malfunction and
put the elevator back into service. The elevator car will move to the landing where the malfunction
occurred and all the doors of that landing will open in turns to check that the problem has been really
solved. Like for the test performed at the end of the erection operation, the flashing of DL3, DL4 and
DL5 led will indicate which door is opening.

It the test succeeds the elevator will resume its normal operation and the CPU leds will automatically
show the elevator status.

It the test fails, the elevator shall not resume its normal operation and the led corresponding to the
door with the short-circuited CBP contact continues to flash, together with DL6 until the PU1 button on
the control board is pushed again.

Note: if the elevator is hydraulic and the mechanic finds it at the lowest landing, the pressure of the
PU1 button on the control board will move the elevator to the landing where the malfunction occurred
allowing the technician to identify the contact which needs repairing. To go back to the normal display
of led on the CPU push again button PU1.

2.7 Fault of emergency device of ECO-E elevators

On the ECO-E elevators if there is an error on the motor encoder or more generally on the emergency
circuit (on the CPU the DL4 LED is fast flashing) the elevator goes out of service.
In this case, due to the lack of information on the movement of the elevator car, the automatic return
to landing operation cannot work and because the indications on the SEE button panel do not work,
the manual emergency operation must be performed by authorised personnel only.
To restart the system press the button PU1 on MP5001
By introducing the J3C jumper on the CPU, the maintenance operator can avoid that the elevator
goes out of service, but in the case of faults it is important to consider the following:
the automatic return to landing operation is anyway disabled;
the personnel performing the manual emergency operation does not have any visual indication of the
elevator car movements. The brake lever must therefore be activated with great caution at slow
intervals in order to prevent the elevator car from reaching an excessive speed therefore causing the
intervention of the brake release lever and of the safety gear lock.
2.8 Restore after the failure IMARS or IMARD
This failure puts the car out of service. In these circumstances the hydraulic lifts do not return
automatically to the lowest floor.
To restore the system press the button PU1 on MP5001
Unitll version 18 revsione 0 of software is also stored in diagnosis as a "failure No. 2".

2.8 Visual signals on Evolux elevators

On Evolux elevators, the indicators on the landings and on the elevator cars show some additional
information on the elevator status.
If the power is disconnected the indicator shows the charging status of the batteries with the following
images:
Display LCD Display LED

Level 4 (Batteries ok) Level 4 (Icon illuminated green)

Level 3 Level 3 (Icon illuminated light chiaro)
Level 2 Level 2 (Icon illuminated yellow)
Level 1 (Batteries down) Level 1 (Icon illuminated orange)

These images are selected from the control board according to the charging status of the batteries.
When the batteries are too low to operate the elevator, the elevator car, if running, is brought to the
nearest landing and after the doors have been opened and closed in order to let out any passenger, it
is put out of service until the batteries have been charged. The out of service status is over when the
batteries reach the charge level corresponding to the image with one notch and lasts however, at
least 30 minutes. When the main supply is on, the indicator shows the following image:
Display LCD Display LED

Note: if the minimum charge level is achieved during the maintenance operation, the elevator car is
not automatically put out of service, but the technician is alerted with the intermittent overload
acoustic signal.

DIAGNOSTIC AND IDENTIFICATION OF MALFUNCTIONS
PAGE : 27
R

When the main supply is off, the indicator shows the following image:
Display LCD Display LED

Level 0 Level 0 (Icon illuminated red)

Note: on elevators with software version 16 release 0, if the main supply is disconnected for more
than 4 hours, or the voltage on the batteries drops to a critical level, the control board switches off
automatically. In this case the elevator must be restored into service by a technician.

The traction that controls the motor exchanges information with the control board through the elevator
car serial board. If this communication is interrupted, the elevator car is brought to the nearest landing
and after the doors have been opened and closed in order to let out any passenger, it is put out of
service. The indicator LCD shows the following image together with the message ‘TRACTION NOT IN
LINE’:

Note: if the communication is interrupted during the maintenance operation, the elevator car is not
automatically put out of service, but the technician is alerted with the intermittent overload acoustic
signal.

2.9 Automatic switch-off of Evolux 2 control board.

The Evolux 2 control board using software 16 version 0 or higher, is fitted with a device that allows the
insulation of the batteries from the charges in order to preserve the two low batteries, that is the ones
that supply the control board and all other devices working at 24V.

After a long period of inactivity these batteries can be discharged until they reach a voltage near 0
and subsequently destroyed. If necessary, the control board activates a release coil, which opens the
IGM switch.

If the elevator car is not moving, if there is no power and the traction signals that the batteries are low,
after 4 hours the release coil is activated. It the elevator is being installed or is under maintenance,
the release coil is activated after only 2 hours.

The control panel, through a signal inside the microprocessor is informed of the fact that the voltage
of the two low batteries is between 15V and 21V. If the elevator car is not moving in normal service
conditions, and the signal persists for at least 30 seconds, the release coil is activated.

Note: before activating the release coil, the doors are opened and remain open until the power is
restored.

ADJUSTMENT AND MODIFICATION OF PARAMETERS
PAGE : 28
R

3 ADJUSTMENT AND MODIFICATION OF PARAMETERS

Many working features (parameters) of the MP5001 system can be modified by the user in
order to customize and/or optimise the performances of the elevator.
System parameters can be modified by means of the so-called “local software” of the control
board proceeding according to the procedure described below.
Some adjustments have to be performed and/or completed, for convenience, using the
elevator car button panel; please find below the explanation of how and when this will be
necessary.

It is not possible to enter the “parameters modification” mode if the EFO, EFS, ISC, EPO
emergency operations are active. Vice versa, these operations shall not be active during the
adjustment of the parameters.

In order to enter the “parameter modification” mode, lower the SW3 slide switch on the CPU
and push simultaneously the PU1 red button on the control board. The indicators at the
landings and in the elevator car are flashing to signal to the user that the elevator is not in
service.

Select the adjustment program

In the tables below it is possible to find the one corresponding to the version and release of
the software installed on the control board. Once the appropriate adjustment has been
identified, the column “Page” will indicate the number of the page containing the adjustment
instructions.

The selection of the adjustment program can be performed by repeatedly pushing the SW1
black button on the CPU; the binary code corresponding to the selected program is displayed
by LEDs DL3÷DL6. Once the desired program has been selected, press the SW2 red button
on the CPU to confirm the selection; at this point the LEDs DL3÷DL6 show the parameter
value, which can then be modified.

Cancellation of command selection

If, after having selected a certain program, you want to operate on a different one, you must
first delete the previous selection; to do that, push both SW1 and SW2 buttons at the same
time; while pushing the buttons the LEDs flash to indicate that the command has been
accepted. After having performed this operation, the LEDs DL3÷DL6 will show the code of
the previous program and a different one can be selected.

Exit and saving of the settings

In order to exit the “parameter modification” mode, lift the SW3 slide switch on the CPU.
This operation makes it possible to save the new values of the parameter in the permanent
memory (E²PROM), which become definitive; in this way, they won’t be lost in case of power
outage.

Restore the parameters to preset factory values (preset of E²PROM)

Sometimes it can be advisable, or even necessary, to reset the parameters to preset values,
that is, the values set inside the factory.
To perform this operation, which is usually called: “E²PROM preset”, proceed in the following
way:

• Disconnect the control board.

• Connect the J3A jumper.
• Supply power to the control board by pushing for a few seconds the SW1 black button on
the CPU. The yellow LEDs DL3÷DL6 on the CPU will flash for 5 seconds (20 on Evolux 2
elevators) to show that the command has been accepted.
• Disconnect the J3A jumper.

Warning! Once performed, this operation cannot be cancelled!

Warning! Whenever any of the three memories IC8, IC9 or IC14 on the CPU or the entire
board is replaced, it is necessary to perform the E²PROM preset, for the system proper
functioning. Before this operation, it is advisable, if possible, to note down the values of all
previously set parameters. In this way, after the E²PROM preset, it will be possible to avoid a
new calibration of the system by inputting the old values.

Following a E²PROM preset, the original values of the programmable timers, the number of
landings, the landings for EFO and EPO controls are reset; the enabling key for erection is
deactivated.

Warning! On elevators using the unified shaft cabling (CUV) for the connection of the
Olympus landing buttons and of the landing doors contacts (CBP), the preset of the E²PROM
DOES NOT disable the erection operation if the automatic test of the connection of the
landing doors contacts has not been performed.

3.2 Doors opening disabled (only ß versions)

This command makes it possible to disable the door opening in order to prevent users from entering the
elevator car during the system maintenance.

After selecting the program, the yellow LED DL6 will display the door status as indicated in the table below:

Status of the
Meaning
LEDs
 Doors opening enabled
 Doors opening disabled
= LED ON = LED OFF

When LED DL6 is on, it means that the door opening is disabled, but the door closure is active.
By pushing the SW1 black button, the “opening enabled” status turns to the “opening disabled” status, and vice
versa.

3.3 Sending the elevator car to any landing (only ß versions)

Using this command, it is possible to make calls from the machine room and verify the proper functioning of the
system. Outside calls will be disabled and the indicators will flash as long as the system is controlled by this
function.

After selecting the program, push the SW1 black button for a number of times equal to the number of the
landing; the lowest landing always corresponds to number 0 notwithstanding its effective codification. Push the
SW2 red button to start the system; the running direction is shown by LEDs DL3 (ascent) and DL6 (descent).
The SW1 and SW2 buttons are disabled when the elevator car is moving.

3.4 Sending the elevator car to the extreme landings (only ß versions)

Using this command, it is possible to have the MP5001 system travel between the extreme landings.
This option makes it possible to check not only the proper functioning of the system, but also of the limit
switches; in order to perform this check, it is necessary to ignore the stop magnets, as described below. Outside
calls will be disabled and the indicators will flash as long as the system is controlled by this function.

After selecting the program, press the SW1 black button for a second; if the elevator car is not moving and
occupies the descent stop (that is, it is located at the lowest landing) it will go to the highest landing; on the
contrary, if it DOES NOT occupy the descent stop (that is, it IS NOT located at the lowest landing), it will go to
the lowest landing.
The running direction is shown by LEDs DL3 (ascent) and DL6 (descent).

How to ignore the stop magnets at extreme landings

WARNING! This procedure is dangerous: it must be performed by authorized personnel only!

In order to have the panel ignore the stop magnets at the extreme landings, to verify the proper functioning of
the safety device, keep the SW2 red button pressed all the time during the elevator car run; the DL3 LED (or
DL6 according to the running direction) will start flashing to indicate that the command has been accepted and
the elevator car running will not be slowed down when arriving at the extreme landing.

3.5 Doors dwell time adjustment

By means of this parameter, it is possible to set the MP5001 system doors dwell time. The time can be set
between a minimum of 2 seconds and a maximum of 15 seconds at one-second steps. The system leaves the
factory with a stop time of 4 seconds for universal systems, 2 seconds for elevators with reservation system and
8 seconds for all systems that have to comply with Law 13.

After selecting the program, the yellow LEDs DL3÷DL6 will display the value of the parameter as indicated in the
table below:

3.6 Adjustment of elevator car light and fan switching off delay

By modifying this parameter it is possible to set the waiting time before the light and the elevator car fan
automatically switch off, once the elevator car is empty.
The delay can range from a minimum of 20 seconds to a maximum of 90 seconds at a 5-second pace. The
factory setting is one minute.

After selecting the program, the yellow LEDs DL3÷DL6 will display the value of the parameter as indicated in the
table below:

3.7 Adjustment of doors dwell time, elevator car light and fan switching off delay and doors close
command fall (from elevator car)

Thanks to this program it is possible to modify the doors dwell time and the waiting time before the light and the
elevator car fan automatically switch off, once the elevator car is empty.

These delays can be set from the button panel of the elevator car; for this purpose, when the program is
selected the elevator car doors automatically open to let the operator in.

Initially, the elevator car indicator shows two dashes [--] to indicate that no selection has been made yet. To
select one of the two available parameters, push any one of the call buttons for at least half second. The
selection is sequential: by keeping the button pressed, the names of all the available parameters run in a cyclic
sequence on the indicator; the parameter can be selected by releasing the button when the name of the desired
parameter appears on the indicator. Once the parameter has been selected, its value appears on the indicator.
The list of the available parameters and of their names is reported in the table below:

Name Description
dt Doors dwell time
Switching off of occupied elevator car light and elevator car fan
CL
waiting time
dC Doors close command fall (1)

(1) Available on elevators with software version 16 release 0 and subsequent.

Note: if the indicator in the elevator car is an Olympus LCD model all letters are capital.

The value of the parameter can be modified by briefly pressing any of the elevator car call buttons. The
displayed value increases at each pressure; when the maximum value is reached, a further pressure will bring
the delay value back to the minimum. As an alternative it is possible to select a different parameter, by keeping
the button pressed until the name appears on the elevator car indicator. The indicator shows the delay value in
seconds.

The performed settings are stored in the permanent memory by lifting the SW3 slide switch on the CPU. As long
as this operation is not performed, a system clearing would cancel all the performed parameter modifications
and would restore the previous values.

3.7.1 Doors dwell time (dt)

This parameter makes it possible to set the doors dwell time with open doors. The time can be set between a
minimum of 2 seconds up to a maximum of 15 seconds at a 1 second pace.
The system leaves the factory with a stop time of 4 seconds for universal systems, 2 seconds for elevators with
reservation system and 8 seconds for all systems that have to comply with Law 13 or regulations EN81/70.

3.7.2 Waiting time before the light and elevator car fan switch off (CL)

By modifying this parameter it is possible to set the waiting time before the light and elevator car fan
automatically switch off, once the elevator car is empty. The delay can range from a minimum of 20 seconds to
a maximum of 90 seconds at a 5-second pace. The factory setting is 60 seconds.

3.7.3 Doors close command fall (dC)

Normally, the closing control is deactivated 0.5 seconds after the closing of the internal doors contact (CPI). In
the large majority of cases this delay is sufficient.

Some operators require a higher delay in order to allow, for example, some control boards to finish a process or
to completely tighten the coupling between the landing and elevator car doors. In these cases it could be useful
to increase the delay.

The delay can be set between a minimum of 0.5 seconds up to a maximum of 6 seconds at a 0.5 second pace.
The delay set in the factory is 0.5 seconds.

The indicator shows the following sequence of numbers: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 60. The value, in
seconds, can be obtained by dividing the displayed number by 10 (i.e. 5 corresponds to a 0.5 seconds delay, 25
to a 2.5 seconds delay).

Note: the software version 16 release 0 limits the setting of this delay to 4 seconds.

3.8 Adjustment of waiting time between two consecutive up runs

In hydraulic systems this parameter corresponds to the waiting time between two consecutive up runs (this
waiting time is necessary for the pump-unit proper functioning).

After selecting the program, the yellow LEDs DL3÷DL6 will display the value of the parameter as indicated in the
table below:

Status of the Value

3.9 Ascent zone delay adjustment

The accuracy of the landing stop depends on the reciprocal position of the magnets along the shaft and the
(monostable or bistable) sensors on the elevator car roof. If the erection instructions of the control parts have
been followed correctly, the elevator car arrival at the landing threshold should be slightly anticipated, in both
directions. In order to avoid the anticipated car arrival and obtain an accurate landing stop, it could be necessary
to delay the elevator car stop control.
This parameter makes it possible to set the zone stop delay after an ascent run.

Note: if available, it is advisable to make this adjustment from the elevator car (see next pages) as it is possible
to visually check the landing stop.

After selecting the program, the yellow LEDs DL3÷DL6 will display the value of the parameter as indicated in the

3.13 PA or TP operating delay time adjustment

In one or two-speed traction systems or with alternating current converter, this parameter corresponds to the
operating delay time for the PA or TP remote control switches. This delay allows the control board to check
before each start that the PA or TP remote controls are not glued. The value set in the factory covers the
majority of cases. It could be necessary to increase it when using small remote controls and which operate very
quickly. In these cases the IS or ID direction remote controls get activated up and then immediately fall due to
the simultaneous operating of the PA or TP remote controls.

After selecting the program, the yellow LEDs DL3÷DL6 will display the value of the parameter as indicated in the

3.17 Governor blocking/unblocking delay adjustment

This parameter, in the elevators with alternating current converter (AC2VV) allows the activation of the governor
with a slight delay compared to the closing of the power contactors. Its value depends on the contacts operating
speed: if it is too short the motor could be energised with the break still not completely open. If it is too long the
elevator car can be pulled by the counterweight before the governor takes control.

This parameter, on elevators with direct current converter (SCS) allows the blocking of the governor (therefore
de-energising the motor) when the break is completely closed. Its value depends on the break closing speed: if
it is too short the elevator car could be pulled by the counterweight before the break is completely closed, if it is
too long there could be the generation of electric arcs on the remote controls contacts as they open while the
current is still going through the armature.

After selecting the program, the yellow LEDs DL3÷DL6 will display the value of the parameter as indicated in the

3.18 Remote controls falling delay adjustment (1V)

This parameter allows the adjustment of the opening delay of the remote controls when the elevator car has to
stop at a landing on 1V (one speed) elevators. Thanks to this delay it is possible to install the deceleration and
zone magnets not too close. Once the tension of the break spring has been set, in order to achieve a
comfortable stop with the shortest possible slide, it is possible to modify the delay, increasing or decreasing it,
so that the elevator car always occupies the zone when stopping at a landing.

Note: if available, it is advisable to make this adjustment from the elevator car (see next pages) as it is possible
to visually check the landing stop.

3.19 Ascent remote controls fall delay adjustment

By changing this parameter it is possible to regulate the delay with which the remote control switches fall with
respect to the entry into the door unblocking zone during an up run. This adjustment is available on elevators
with direct current traction (SCS) and inverter.

This time must be set so that the remote control switches can fall only after the motor has stopped or rather
when no more current passes through the power circuit; this avoids unnecessary stress to the inverter and
lengthens the life of the remote control switches. It has to be set before setting the ascent zone delay.

After selecting the program, the yellow LEDs DL3÷DL6 will display the value of the parameter as indicated in the

3.21 Break opening time control adjustment

This parameter, on elevators with direct current converter (SCS) allows the delay of the break opening in order
to give time to the governor to take control of the motor. If the delay is too short, the elevator car can be pulled

3.22 Descent releveling step adjustment

This parameter makes it possible to set the step time during the descent releveling in hydraulic elevators. The
time can be set from a minimum of 100ms to a maximum of 800ms.
Descent releveling in hydraulic systems actually occurs in two phases:

• The elevator car goes down with little movements (steps), until the IMH sensor meets the zone magnets
(plastoferrite).
• After having reached the zone plastoferrite, the step movement stops and the elevator car goes to the
landing with a further descent run whose duration is specified in the descent levelling zone delay.

Obviously, this parameter is available only on hydraulic elevators. To make this setting it is advisable to use the
set-up programs from the elevator car (see next pages).

After selecting the program, the yellow LEDs DL3÷DL6 will display the value of the parameter as indicated in the

3.24 Buttons encoding and Olympus landing indicator

With this program it is possible to set the number of the serial node of the landing button and, if necessary, of
the Olympus indicator.
The “Olympus” landing buttons (and indicators) come out of the factory configured as node 0; they all work as if
they were the button (or indicator) of the lowest landing.
On the serial board of the “Olympus” buttons there are no configuration jumpers as was the case of “VIP”
buttons; in order to set the node number, please follow the following procedure:

1) Bring the elevator car to the landing nearer to the machine room.

2) Select the program on the control board:

- All the elevator car doors open.
- The elevator car indicator shows the letter (A, b, C) corresponding to the side of the elevator car where
the access is located. On the Olympus LCD indicator the letter “b” is displayed in capital letters (B).

3) Push the landing button

- The button will be automatically configured and will flash signalling that the operation has been
completed successfully.

4) Enter in the elevator car and push the call button of the highest landing.
- The position of the elevator car will flash on the indicator.

5) Bring the elevator car to the next landing by pushing the corresponding elevator car button.
- When reaching the selected landing, all the doors of the elevator car will open and the elevator car
indicator will show again the letter (A, b, C) corresponding to the side of the elevator car where the
access is located.

6) Repeat the procedure from step 3) to 5) for all landings.

Note: before starting the procedure for the encoding of the buttons and of the indicators, the elevator car must
have performed the power factor correction run at the lowest landing.

Elevator cars with more than one access

If on the landing where the elevator car is standing, there is more than one access, the elevator car indicator will
show two horizontal dashes - -. In this case, step 3) above will change as follows:

3.1) Select one access among the displayed ones keeping one of the elevator car buttons pressed (except the
call button for the highest landing).
- The corresponding letter will appear on the indicator.

3.2) Leave the elevator car and push the landing button corresponding to the selected access.

3.3) Repeat this procedure selecting the other accesses displayed at the landing.

Side A is usually the one where the access to the lowest landing is located. In case of ambiguity, bring the
elevator car to a landing with only one access and read the name of the side on the elevator car indicator.

Button panels with two buttons

The landing button panels of elevators with reservation system have two buttons. The procedure to follow is the
one described above; to configure the button panel it is not necessary to push both landing buttons, but only the
one with the red light on. In these cases the control board switches on the signal of the call button for the down
run.

Indicator encoding

When the arrow on the landing indicator shows the next start direction of the elevator car (typical functioning in
reservation elevators), it should switch on only at the landing where the elevator car is located. Therefore, it is

necessary to set the number of the serial node also for the indicators. The procedure is the same already
described for the buttons except for step 3) which changes as follows:

3) After encoding the button, bring a magnet near the indicator on the right side of the visual area, for the LCD
model, and on the left side for the LED model.
- The button will be automatically configured and will flash signalling that the operation has been
completed successfully.

this area
Visual Area

Note: for this purpose we suggest the use of three overlapped stripes of plastoferrite (the ones usually mounted
on the guides) to run over the whole surface of the indicator.

Warning! If at the floor where the elevator car is standing, there is more than one access, the above
described operation must be performed only when the elevator car screen displays letter A.

When the arrow on the landing indicator shows the current direction of the elevator car (typical functioning in
universal elevators), all landing indicators will switch on the arrow; therefore it is NOT necessary to encode the
node number.

3.25 Stop at landing setting from elevator car

With this program it is possible to modify the stop delays at the landing. By duly setting these delays, you can
set accurately the elevator car landing stop, either after a regular run or after a levelling control.
Landing accuracy depends also on the low speed value. To adjust the low speed, you must consult the specific
manuals of the various control devices: inverter for cable systems and pump-unit for hydraulic systems.

The landing stop is set from the button panel of the elevator car; for this purpose, when the program is selected,
the elevator car doors automatically open to let the operator in.

At first, the elevator car indicator shows two dashes [--] to indicate that no selection has been made yet.
To select one of the seven available parameters, push any one of the call buttons.
The selection is sequential: by keeping the button pressed, the names of all the available parameters run in a
cyclic sequence on the indicator; the selection is done by releasing the button when the name of the desired
parameter appears on the indicator. Once the parameter has been selected, its value appears on the indicator.

The list of available parameters and their names can be found in the previous pages in an appropriate table
associated with the list of available programs for each version and release of the software.

The parameter value can be changed by briefly pressing any of the elevator car call buttons; otherwise, a
different parameter can be selected by pressing the button until its name appears on the elevator car indicator.

The performed settings are stored in the permanent memory by lifting the SW3 slide switch on the CPU. As long
as this operation is not performed, a system clearing would cancel all the performed parameter modifications
and would restore the previous values.

3.25.1 Ascent zone delay adjustment (P1)

The accuracy of the landing stop depends on the reciprocal position between the magnets along the shaft and
the (monostable or bistable) sensors on the elevator car roof. If the assembly instructions of the control parts
have been followed correctly, the elevator car arrival at the landing threshold should be slightly anticipated, in
both directions.
In order to avoid the anticipated car arrival and obtain an accurate landing stop, it could be necessary to delay
the elevator car stop control.
This parameter makes it possible to set the zone stop delay after an ascent run. The time can be set from a
minimum of 50ms to a maximum of 750ms at a 50ms pace. The default value is 50ms.

Note: it is available for all elevators except for 1V elevators.

After having selected parameter P1 on the button panel of the elevator car, the ascent arrow will flash on the
elevator car indicator to indicate that the displayed value is the zone stop delay in an ascent run.
The indicator shows the delay time divided by 10 (if, for instance, the delay time is 450ms, the indicator shows
45). To change this value, briefly press any one of the elevator car call buttons. The displayed value increases
at every pressure; when the maximum value is reached, a further pressure will make the delay value return to
the minimum

3.25.2 Remote controls falling delay adjustment on 1V elevators (P1)

This parameter allows the adjustment of the opening delay of the remote controls when the elevator car has to
stop at a landing on 1V (one speed) elevators. Thanks to this delay it is possible to install the deceleration and
zone magnets not too close. Once the tension of the break spring has been set, in order to achieve a
comfortable stop with the shortest possible slide, it is possible to modify the delay, increasing or decreasing it,
so that the elevator car always occupies the zone when stopping at a landing.
This parameter makes it possible to set the zone stop delay after an ascent run. The time can be set from a
minimum of 300ms to a maximum of 1700ms at a 100ms pace. The default value is 1S.

Note: it is available only for 1V elevators.

Once the parameter P1 has been selected on the elevator car button panel, the indicator shows the delay time
divided by 100 (if, for instance, the delay time is 300ms, the indicator shows 03, if it is 1500ms the indicator
shows 15). The arrows remain off.
To change this value, briefly press any one of the elevator car call buttons. The displayed value increases at
every pressure; when the maximum value is reached, a further pressure will make the delay value return to the
minimum

3.25.3 Descent zone delay adjustment(P2)

This parameter makes it possible to set the zone stop delay after a descent run. The time can be set from a
minimum of 50ms to a maximum of 750ms at a 50ms pace.

After having selected parameter P2 on the button panel of the elevator car, the descent arrow will flash on the
elevator car indicator to indicate that the displayed value is the zone stop delay in a descent run.
The indicator shows the delay time divided by 10 (if for instance the delay time is 450ms, the indicator shows
45). To change this value, briefly press any one of the elevator car call buttons. The displayed value increases
at every pressure; when the maximum value is reached, a further pressure will make the delay value return to
the minimum

3.25.4 Ascent zone levelling delay adjustment (P3)

During the levelling run, the elevator car runs just a few centimetres; therefore, the landing stop accuracy during
this operation requires different settings compared to that of the landing stop in a normal run.

This parameter makes it possible to set the zone stop delay after the ascent levelling of the elevator. The time
can be set from a minimum of 50ms to a maximum of 750ms at a 50ms pace.

After having selected parameter P3 on the button panel of the elevator car, the ascent arrow will flash on the
elevator car indicator to indicate that the displayed value is the zone stop delay after an ascent levelling.
The indicator shows the delay time divided by 10 (if for instance the delay time is 450ms, the indicator shows
45). To change this value, briefly press any one of the call buttons of the elevator car. The displayed value
increases at every pressure; when the maximum value is reached, a further pressure will make the delay value
return to the minimum

3.25.5 Ascent remote controls fall delay adjustment (P3)

By changing this parameter it is possible to regulate the delay with which the remote control switches fall with
respect to the entry into the door unblocking zone during an up run.

Note: This adjustment is available on elevators with direct current traction (SCS) and inverter.

This time must be set so that the remote control switches can fall only after the motor has stopped or rather
when no more current passes through the power circuit; this avoids unnecessary stress to the inverter and
lengthens the life of the remote control switches. The time can be set from a minimum of 300ms to a maximum
of 1 second at a 50ms pace. It has to be set before setting the ascent zone delay.

Note: it is advisable to make this adjustment from the elevator car (see next pages) as it is possible to visually
check the landing stop.

After having selected parameter P3 on the button panel of the elevator car, the ascent arrow will flash on the
elevator car indicator to indicate that the displayed value is the remote controls fall delay in an ascent run. The
indicator shows the delay time divided by 10 (if for instance the delay time is 450ms, the indicator shows 45,
while the maximum delay, equal to 1 second, is displayed as 1”). To change this value, briefly press any one of
the call buttons of the elevator car. The displayed value increases at every pressure; when the maximum value
is reached, a further pressure will make the delay value return to the minimum

3.25.6 Descent zone levelling delay adjustment (P4)

This parameter makes it possible to set the stopping delay after a descent levelling of the elevator. The time can
be set from a minimum of 300 ms to a maximum of 1.7 seconds, with 100 ms step, in hydraulic elevators, or
from 50 ms to 750 ms with a 50 ms step in traction elevators equipped with auto-levelling device.

After having selected parameter P4 on the button panel of the elevator car, the descent arrow will flash on the
elevator car indicator to indicate that the displayed value is the zone stop delay after a descent levelling.

The indicator shows the delay time divided by 10 (if for instance the delay time is 450ms, the indicator shows
45). To change this value, briefly press any one of the call buttons of the elevator car. The displayed value
increases at every pressure; when the maximum value is reached, a further pressure will make the delay value
return to the minimum

3.25.7 Descent remote controls fall delay adjustment (P4)

By changing this parameter it is possible to regulate the delay with which the remote control switches fall with
respect to the entry into the door unblocking zone during a down run.

Note: it is available on elevators with direct current traction (SCS) and inverter.

It has to be set before setting the descent zone delay.

Note: it is advisable to make this adjustment from the control board (see next pages) as it is possible to visually
check if the break closes when the motor stops.

After having selected parameter P3 on the button panel of the elevator car, the descent arrow will flash on the
elevator car indicator to indicate that the displayed value is the zone stop delay in a descent run.
The indicator shows the delay time divided by 10 (if for instance the delay time is 450ms, the indicator shows
45, while the maximum delay, equal to 1 second, is displayed as 1”). To change this value, briefly press any one
of the call buttons of the elevator car. The displayed value increases at every pressure; when the maximum
value is reached, a further pressure will make the delay value return to the minimum

3.25.8 Descent releveling steps adjustment (hydro) (P5)

This parameter makes it possible to set the step time during the descent releveling in hydraulic elevators. The
time can be set from a minimum of 100ms to a maximum of 800ms.
Obviously, parameter P5 is only available on hydraulic systems.

Descent releveling in hydraulic systems actually occurs in two phases:

the elevator car goes down with little movements (steps), until the IMH sensor meets the zone magnets
(plastoferrite);

After having reached the zone plastoferrite, the step movement stops and the elevator car approaches the
landing with a further descent run whose time is indicated by parameter P4.

After having selected parameter P5 on the button panel of the elevator car, the descent arrow will flash on the
elevator car indicator to indicate that the displayed value is the step duration during the descent releveling.

The indicator shows the delay time divided by 10 (if, for instance the delay time is 600ms, the indicator shows
60). To change this value, briefly press any one of the call buttons of the elevator car. The displayed value
increases at every pressure; when the maximum value is reached, a further pressure will make the delay value
return to the minimum

3.25.9 Performing runs during stop adjustment (C)

The selection of this parameter makes it possible to perform test runs in order to verify the correct setting of
parameters P1 (ascent zone delay) and P2 (descent zone delay).

First, select parameter C using the elevator car button panel.

By briefly pressing one of the elevator car buttons, select the running direction (the selected direction is
displayed by the directional arrows on the elevator car indicator); three seconds after having selected the
direction, the elevator car will go to the landing immediately above (if the ascent direction has been selected) or
below (if the descent direction has been selected).

3.25.10 Levelling test during stop adjustment (L)

The selection of this parameter (available only for hydraulic systems) makes it possible to perform the levelling
operation in order to verify the correct setting of parameters P3 (ascent levelling delay), P4 (descent levelling
delay), and P5 (descent releveling step time).

First, select parameter L using the elevator car button panel.

Briefly press one of the elevator car buttons to select the levelling direction (the selected direction is displayed
by the directional arrows on the elevator car indicator); three seconds after having selected the direction, the
elevator car will move in the direction opposed to the selected one and then, it will return to the landing with the
levelling control.

3.26 Doors adjustment (from the elevator car)

With this program it is possible to set the working of the doors if these are controlled by an “AZ5001”, “A5001
slim” or “AZ5400” serial traction board. For door control boards different from the above-mentioned ones, please
refer to the related manuals.
Doors are set using the elevator car button panel. To this end, when the program is selected, the car doors
automatically open to let the operator in and the elevator car indicator shows two dashes [--] to indicate that no
selection has been performed yet. On the contrary, if the [d1] writing appears on the indicator, it means that
there are several accesses; in this case, choose one of them as described in the following paragraph.

Note: if the indicator in the elevator car is an Olympus LCD model all letters are capital.

Access selection (multiple access)

If the system has more than one access, each door must be set independently; to do that, select first the access
on which you want to intervene.
In the case of multiple accesses, when you enter the “door adjustment” mode, the “d1” writing will be shown
instead of the usual two dashes [--]. The “d1” writing indicates that the first access is being set; on the contrary,
if you want to set the doors of other accesses, keep the elevator car button of the highest landing pressed, until
the indicator shows the desired access (“d2” => second access, “d3” => third access). In multiple access
systems, the highest landing button has only this function and cannot be used for different purposes. This
operation can be performed even after having set the door of another access.
If the access sign (“d1”,”d2”…”dx”) flashes, this means that the panel cannot communicate with the door
traction; the door in question could be activated by a non serial board (e.g. AZ2300 or AZ5300) or there could
be a connection error of the elevator car serial.

Operators with two motors

If an operator has two motors, (always central telex operator) each traction must be set independently; to do
that, select first the motor on which you want to intervene. In this case, the second motor, if present, is identified
on the indicator with the writing “1d” (second motor of the first access) “2d” (Second motor of the second
access) and “3d” (third motor of the third access). In elevators with two motor operators, the highest landing
button has only this function and cannot be used for different purposes.

Note: if the traction of the second motor is not in communication, the related indication is skipped. Check the
connections of the elevator car serial or the proper functioning of the traction.

Serial communication error

The information concerning the parameters of the door control board are transmitted to the panel (and vice
versa) and to the elevator car indicator, through the serial line. If the serial communication between the panel
and the car does not work, it is clear that the doors cannot be set and the indicator starts flashing to indicate to
the operator that the operation failed. In this case, try to repeat the operation or, if the error persists, call
technical assistance.

Saving data and exiting from adjustments.

The selection of parameter EP makes it possible to save at any time the performed settings. The EP initial
2
indicates that the data will be saved in the E PROM (permanent memory) and, therefore, they will be stored
even in case of power outage.
On the other hand, if you exit from the “door adjustment” mode by simply lifting the SW3 slide switch on the
CPU, the settings will be stored in the system volatile memory, and, therefore, will be lost in case of power
outage.

3.26.1 AZ5001 / AZ5001Slim traction adjustment

There are ten available parameters (nine on the “Slim” version); the names of the available parameters are
displayed in sequence, by keeping any of the elevator car buttons pressed. To select the parameter, release the
button when its name appears on the indicator. Once the parameter has been selected, its value appears on the
indicator.
The list of the available parameters and of their names is reported in the table below:

Name Description
AP Opening speed
CH Closing speed
bA Opening approach space
bC Closing approach space
BU Approach speed
Ac Acceleration (deceleration)
Co Electronic safety edge sensitivity (1)
EP Adjustment saving
td Test (opening and closing)
tu Tuning performance
(1) Parameter not available on the “Slim” version

The parameter value can be changed by briefly pressing one of the elevator car buttons; otherwise, a different
parameter can be selected by keeping the button pressed until its name appears on the elevator car indicator.
Parameter changes become effective only when moving to the next parameter.

Doors opening speed setting

Select parameter AP using the elevator car button panel; the current door opening speed value is shown on the
indicator.
In AZ5001 elevators the number on the indicator is an absolute number (that is it does not correspond to any
measurement unit); in the Slim version, however, the doors speed is displayed and expressed in cm/s. In any
case, the highest the value, the highest the speed.

To increase the parameter, press briefly any one of the call buttons; to decrease it, press the “door-opening”
button. The “door-opening” button is not always present; in this case, the parameter can only be increased,
however, when it reaches the maximum value, a further pressure will bring it to the minimum value again, and
the cycle will start again. In the same way, if you decrease the parameter below the minimum authorized value,
it will return to its maximum value.

Doors closing speed setting

The speed must always be adjusted considering that, when closing, the doors can come into contact with things
or persons; In particular, the closing time can be subject to the national regulations ruling architectural barrier
overtaking (in Italy, the minimum closing time established by “law 13” is 4 seconds).

Select parameter CH on the button panel of the elevator car; the current door closing speed value will be shown
on the indicator.
In AZ5001 elevators the number on the indicator is an absolute number (that is it does not correspond to any
measurement unit); in the Slim version, however, the doors speed is displayed and expressed in cm/s. In any
case, the highest the value, the highest the speed.

In the same way, if you decrease the parameter below the minimum authorized value, it will return to its

Opening approach space setting

This parameter makes it possible to set the opening approach space or, in other words, the run stretch that the
doors run at low speed before approaching the opening mechanical door stop.

Select parameter bA on the button panel of the elevator car; the current opening approach space value will be
displayed in centimetres.

Note: in the AZ5001 version, the set number includes also the space run during the deceleration; therefore, if
the parameter is set at 30, the door starts slowing down 30 cm from the mechanical stop, but the real space
travelled at approach speed is shorter and depends from the inertia which the door opposes to the deceleration
control.

Closing approach space setting

This parameter makes it possible to set the closing approach space or, in other words, the run stretch that the
doors run at low speed before approaching the closing mechanical door stop.

Select parameter bC on the button panel of the elevator car; the current closing approach space value will be
displayed in centimetres.

To increase the parameter, press briefly any one of the call buttons; to decrease it, press the “door-opening”
button. The “door-opening” button is not always present; in this case, the parameter can only be increased,

Approaching speed setting

This parameter makes it possible to set the approaching speed that is the speed of the doors when they
approach the mechanical doorstop after slowing down. This speed is the same both in closing and in opening
and it should be adjusted at the lowest possible value in order to reduce the door noise to the minimum.

Select parameter bU on the button panel of the elevator car; the current approaching speed value will be shown
on the indicator.
In AZ5001 elevators the number on the indicator is an absolute number (that is it does not correspond to any
measurement unit); in the Slim version, however, the doors speed is displayed and expressed in cm/s. In any
case, the highest the value, the highest the speed.

To increase the parameter, press briefly any one of the call buttons; to decrease it, press the “door-opening”

however, when it reaches the maximum value, a further pressure will bring it to the minimum value again, and
the cycle will start again. In the same way, if you decrease the parameter below the minimum authorized value,
it will return to its maximum value.

Acceleration (deceleration) setting

This parameter makes it possible to set the acceleration and deceleration ramp slope of the door both when
closing and opening.

Select parameter Ac on the elevator car button panel; the current acceleration (deceleration) value will be
shown on the indicator.
In AZ5001 elevators the number on the indicator is an absolute number (that is it does not correspond to any
2
measurement unit); in the Slim version, however, the acceleration (deceleration) speed is expressed in dm/s . In
any case, the higher the value, the higher the acceleration.

Note: In the AZ5001 version this parameter affects also the approaching space, therefore after modifying Ac, it
could be necessary also to revise parameters bA and bC.

Setting of the intervention sensitivity of the electronic safety edge (not present in the Slim version)

This parameter makes it possible to set the intervention sensitivity of the electronic safety edge: the device
detecting the presence of any obstacle in door closing. The control panel is informed about the electronic safety
edge intervention and commands the door re-opening. The sensitivity must be adjusted according to current
regulations in force; currently, European regulations EN81 fix the necessary force to block the door closure at
no more than 150N.

Select parameter Co on the elevator car button panel; the current sensitivity value of the safety edge will be
shown on the indicator. The figure on the indicator is an absolute number (that is, it does not correspond to any
measurement unit) representing the force required to make the safety edge operate: the higher the value, the
higher the force required (that is, the safety edge sensitivity is lower).

In the same way, if you decrease the parameter below the minimum authorized value, it will return to its
maximum value.

Saving parameters in E2PROM

The selection of this parameter allows the final saving of the parameters in the permanent memory (E²PROM).
In this way, performed changes will not be lost in case of power outage.

First, select parameter EP on the elevator car button panel; as this is not a numeric parameter but a function,
the indicator will not show a numeric value but the “EP” writing.

Press briefly one of the call buttons to send the command of data saving; the writing on the indicator will flash
until the data saving is completed. If data saving is successful, the “EP” writing will stop flashing.
On the contrary, if the indicator keeps flashing, it means that the operation has failed; in this case, wait a few
seconds and repeat the operation or, if the problem persists, call technical assistance.

Test (opening and closing)

The selection of this parameter makes it possible to enter the “test” function to verify the door functioning and
the effectiveness of the performed adjustments.

First, select parameter td on the elevator car button panel; as this is not a numeric parameter but a function, the
indicator will not show a numeric value but the “td” writing.

By pressing briefly one of the call buttons the doors automatically open and close; during the test, the writing on
the indicator will flash until the operation is completed.

Note: if the operator has two motors, this operation causes the movement of both doors, regardless of the
selected motor.

Tuning

The traction is calibrated roughly in the factory so that it can work. However, for door optimal functioning, the
board needs certain information about the system on which it is installed; for this reason, it is necessary to
perform the tuning procedure when the doors are operated for the first time. The other adjustments are not
available until the tuning has been performed.

The selection of this parameter makes it possible to perform the tuning of the traction; this procedure is a kind of
self-adjustment through which the board acquires certain characteristic data of the door, which it shall control.

First, select parameter tU on the elevator car button panel; as this is not a numeric parameter but a function, the
indicator will not show a numeric value but the “tU” writing.

Make sure the door movement is not obstructed and start the tuning by pressing briefly one of the call buttons;
during the tuning operation, the doors will perform the following operations:
- first, they start a closing movement until they detect the car door contact (CPI);
- they open completely and measure the door width;
- once they are open, they check the functioning of the current limiter;
- they close at low speed and measure the minimum voltage required for this operation;
- they open again and measure the maximum speed they can reach.

for a while and then repeat the operation.
If you cannot perform the tuning, call technical assistance.

The data recorded during the tuning is automatically saved. Therefore, although it would be possible to do it, it is
not necessary to perform the tuning more than once.

Note: if the operator has two motors, this operation causes the movement of both doors, regardless of the
selected motor in order not to distort the reading of the CPI contact due to the movement of the two doors at
different speeds.

3.26.2 AZ5400 traction adjustment

There are ten available parameters; the names of the available parameters are displayed in sequence, by
keeping any of the elevator car buttons pressed. To select the parameter, release the button when its name
appears on the indicator. Once the parameter has been selected, its value appears on the indicator.
The list of the available parameters and of their names is reported in the table below:

Name Description
AP Opening speed
CH Closing speed
tA Duration of high speed during opening
tC Duration of high speed during closing
bA Opening approach speed
bC Closing approach speed
Co Electronic safety edge sensitivity
EP Adjustment saving
td Test (opening and closing)
Pr Preset of parameters

The parameter value can be changed by briefly pressing one of the elevator car buttons; otherwise, a different
parameter can be selected by keeping the button pressed until its name appears on the elevator car indicator.
Parameter changes become effective only when moving to the next parameter.

Doors opening speed setting

Select parameter AP using the elevator car button panel; the current door opening speed value is shown on the
indicator. The figure on the indicator is an absolute number (that is, it does not correspond to any measurement
unit): the higher the value, the higher the speed.

Closing speed setting

The speed must always be adjusted considering that, during closing, the doors can come into contact with
things or persons; In particular, the closing time can be subject to the national regulations ruling architectural
barrier overtaking (in Italy, the minimum closing time established by “law 13” is 4 seconds).

Select parameter CH on the button panel of the elevator car; the current door closing speed value will be shown
on the indicator. The figure on the indicator is an absolute number (that is, it does not correspond to any
measurement unit): the higher the value, the higher the speed.

Adjustment of the duration of high speed during opening

This parameter makes it possible to set the time during which the doors open at high speed.
Select parameter tA on the button panel of the elevator car; the current value of the time to be covered at high
speed during opening is displayed. The number on the indicator indicates in tenth of seconds, the time of
activation of the deceleration after a run at high speed.

If the traction is preset to work with the deceleration magnetic sensors (“--/RAL” jumper deactivated), the value
of this parameter has no influence and the high speed is kept until the opening deceleration limit switch is
activated.

Adjustment of the duration of high speed during closing

This parameter makes it possible to set the time during which the doors close at high speed.
Select parameter tC on the button panel of the elevator car; the current value of the time to be covered at high
speed during closing is displayed. The number on the display indicates in tenth of seconds, the time of
activation of the deceleration after a run at high speed.

If the traction is preset to work with the deceleration magnetic sensors (“--/RAL” jumper deactivated), the value
of this parameter has no influence and the high speed is kept until closing deceleration limit switch is activated.

Opening approach speed setting

This parameter makes it possible to set the approaching speed during opening, that is the speed of doors when
they approach the mechanical doorstop after having slowed down during opening (*).

Select parameter bA on the button panel of the elevator car; the current opening approach speed value will be
displayed. The figure on the indicator is an absolute number (that is, it does not correspond to any
measurement unit): the higher the value, the higher the speed.

Closing approach speed setting

This parameter makes it possible to set the approaching speed during closing, that is the speed of doors when
they approach the mechanical doorstop after having slowed down during closing (*).

Select parameter bC on the button panel of the elevator car; the current closing approach speed value will be
displayed. The figure on the indicator is an absolute number (that is, it does not correspond to any
measurement unit): the higher the value, the higher the speed.

(*) Unlike what happens with AZ5001 tractions, it is normal to have a high value of the bA and bC parameters
(for instance higher than 15). If the set value is too low, the doors could not be able to move at low speed and
therefore will stop; if this happens, it is necessary to increase the value of the parameters.

Setting of the intervention sensitivity of the electronic safety edge

This parameter makes it possible to set the intervention sensitivity of the electronic safety edge: the device
detecting the presence of any obstacle in door closing. The control panel is informed about the electronic safety
edge intervention and commands the door re-opening. The sensitivity must be adjusted according to current
regulations in force; currently, European regulations EN81 fix the necessary force to block the door closure at
no more than 150N.

Select parameter Co on the elevator car button panel; the current sensitivity value of the safety edge will be
shown on the display. The figure on the indicator is an absolute number (that is, it does not correspond to any
measurement unit) representing the force required to make the safety edge operate: the higher the value, the
higher the force required (that is, the safety edge sensitivity is lower).

2
Saving parameters in E PROM

The selection of this parameter allows the final saving of the parameters in the permanent memory (E²PROM).
In this way, the performed changes will not be lost in case of power outage.

On the contrary, if the indicator keeps flashing, it means that the operation has failed; in this case, wait a few
seconds and repeat the operation or, if the problem persists, call the technical assistance.

If during the test, once the deceleration during opening (closing) is completed, the door stops, this means that
the value of parameters bA (bC) has been set too low. In this case it is necessary to increase the value of the
parameter and repeat the test.

Preset of parameters

The parameters that control the functioning of the doors reside in a non-volatile memory (E²PROM); with this
procedure the parameters contained in the memory are reset to factory values.
It could be useful to activate this procedure when it is not possible to adjust the doors by acting on the single
parameters. The factory calibration allows the mechanical safety functioning of the doors; however it is
necessary to perform a new calibration.

Select parameter Pr on the elevator car button panel; as this is not a numeric parameter but a function, the
indicator will not show a numeric value but the “Pr” writing.

Press briefly one of the call buttons to send the data preset command; the writing on the indicator will flash until
the preset operation is completed. If the preset is successful, the “Pr” writing will stop flashing.
On the contrary, if the indicator keeps flashing, it means that the operation has failed; in this case, wait a few
seconds and repeat the operation or, if the problem persists, call the technical assistance.

Warning! After this operation it is necessary to perform a new calibration.

3.27 Updating the number of stops (from the elevator car)

The selection of this parameter makes it possible to transmit to the control panel the number of stops existing in
the system.
This operation is necessary only when stops are added or deleted compared to the original number. In this
case, the panel must be informed about the performed changes.

Note: the update of the number of stops is possible only on elevators with single access or with multiple
accesses provided they are not simultaneous or differentiated; in this last case and for group elevators it is
necessary to request e new eprom.

After installing (or removing) the appropriate landing and elevator car buttons, select the program and enter the
elevator car (the doors will automatically open).
Note: this operation is possible only if the system is not working; if you try to select this parameter while the
system is running, the yellow LEDs on the CPU flash to indicate that the operation failed.

Once this parameter has been selected, the system is disabled and no longer accepts calls from landings or
from the elevator car. The elevator car indicator shows two horizontal dashes (--). To update the number of
stops press the elevator car button corresponding to the highest landing; while pressing the button, the elevator
car indicator will show the current number of stops.

Note: in the case of (duplex or triplex) group systems, this procedure is used to change the landing to which the
elevator car will be automatically sent. When the J3D jumper is inserted on the CPU, when no elevator occupies
the designed landing, and one elevator car has been free for at least 10 seconds, the car is sent automatically
to that landing.

3.28 EFO control landing setting (from the elevator car)

The selection of this parameter makes it possible to choose the so-called “EFO landing”, that is, the landing to
which the elevator car is sent during the Fire Brigade operation.

Select the program and enter the elevator car (the doors will automatically open).

To set the EFO landing, press
the elevator car button corresponding to the selected landing; while pressing the button, the elevator car
indicator will show the number of the selected landing.

3.29 EPO control landing setting (from the elevator car)

By selecting this parameter the so-called “EPO landing” can be chosen, that is, the landing to which the elevator
car is sent when the generator set is activated.

Select the parameter and enter the elevator car (the doors will automatically open).

To set the EPO landing, press
the elevator car button corresponding to the selected landing; while pressing the button, the elevator car
indicator will show the number of the selected landing.

3.30 Setting the volume of acoustic signals (buttons and Olympus display)

This adjustment must be performed only after setting the nodes on the buttons and landing indicators.

With this program it is possible to select, simultaneously at all landings and in the elevator car, the volume of the
acoustic signals on the buttons and Olympus display, with a level between 0 (mute) and 4.

Elevators NON compliant with regulation EN81/70

Once this program has been activated, the elevator car opens the doors, the landing indicators show two
horizontal dashes [--], while the elevator car indicator shows Po, to indicate that it is possible to adjust only the
volume of the doors opening acoustic signal.

With any elevator car call button, including the one for the highest landing, it is possible to browse through the
five available levels (from 0 to 4).

Elevators compliant with regulation EN81/70

Once this program has been activated, the elevator car opens the doors, the landing and elevator car indicators
show two horizontal dashes [--]. The two horizontal dashes will always be visible at the landings.

By keeping the call button of highest landing in the elevator car pressed, the elevator car indicator will show the
list of the modifiable volumes; the meaning of the acronyms shown on the indicator is described in the table
below:

Name Description
PP Landing buttons volume (call recording)
PC Elevator car buttons volume (call recording)
Fr Volume of the signal of next up run
Fr Volume of the signal of next down run
Po Doors opening signal volume

Note: if the indicator in the elevator car is an Olympus LCD model all letters are capital.

By releasing the highest landing call button of the elevator car, the indicator will show the name of the choosen
device. By keeping pressed any elevator car call button, excluding the one for the highest landing, it is possible
to browse through the five available levels (from 0 to 4). Zero will prevent the devices from emitting any sound.

Because this program performs a single adjustment for all landings, it is not possible to move the elevator car by
using the call buttons. Should this be the case, it is necessary to exit the configuration program.

Note: the adjustment of the volume of the next run arrows is not available on elevators with universal control,
because in these systems, the arrow indicates the current running direction and is not accompanied by any
acoustic signal.

3.32 Enabling/disabling of erection operation

The selection of this parameter makes it possible to enable or disable the erection operation; this control, which
consists in the elevator car moving only by means of the maintenance button panel, is necessary during the
erection process since it is not possible to use the junction box on the elevator car roof. The elevator comes out
of the factory with the erection operation enabled.

As long as the erection operation is enabled, the system cannot work.

Warning! During the erection operation there is no serial communication between the control panel and the
elevator car; the elevator car moves at maintenance speed (≤ 0,63 m/s); the stop sensors at the extreme
landings (ARS, ARD) are deactivated.

After selecting the program, the yellow led DL6 will display the erection operation status as indicated in the table
below:

Status of the
Meaning
LEDs
 Erection control disabled
 Erection control enabled
= LED ON = LED OFF

To modify the parameter, press the SW1 button on the CPU; each time you press the button, the enabling
status changes.

3.32.1 Exit from the erection operation on automatic elevators with Olympus buttons

In elevators with Olympus buttons and automatic doors, when exiting from the erection operation, the elevator
performs an automatic test to verify the correct connection of all contacts of the landing doors.

Warning! It is not possible to exit from the erection operation until the test procedure is successfully concluded.
Before activating the automatic test, check the status and the working of the bi-stable magnetic sensors IMARS
and IMARD, encode any serial operator, check the connections and the working of any non-serial operator.

To exit the erection operation, please follow the following instructions:

1) Bring the elevator car to a landing other than the lowest one.

2) Check that the doors are closed. If not, stop the operation and remove the cause of the problem.

3) If the elevator has car door contacts series before landing doors contacts one (traditional wiring), bypass car
doors contact (CPI), installing on the control board the yellow prescribed bridge. In these cases, if the by-pass
on the CPI is not connected the test will stop immediately and fail.

Activate the program on the control board and press for a few seconds the SW1 black button on the CPU.
Warning! If the by-pass on the CPI is not connected the test will stop immediately and fail.

- The erection operation is temporarily disabled and the test will start.
- The flashing DL6 LED will signal that there is an ongoing test.
- The elevator car will move automatically to the lowest landing.
- The control board opens, one by one, all the accesses checking that the related CBP contact opens
correctly. The interval between the complete closing of one door and the opening of the next is about 1
second.
- Once the closing of the last access has been successfully completed, the elevator car moves to the
landing immediately above and repeats the opening of all doors. The cycle continues up to the highest
landing.

If the test is successful …

If all CBP contacts work properly, the test will be completed successfully when the elevator car has completed
the opening of all doors at the highest landing.

The DL3÷DL6 LEDs are all off.

The erection control is definitively disabled.

If the elevator has car door contacts series before landing doors contacts one (traditional wiring) it is possible
to remove the by-pass on the CPI contact.

Note: If the elevator has car door contacts series before landing doors contacts one (traditional wiring), the last
door opened by the test procedure shall remain open until the by-pass on the CPI contact has been removed.
On elevators with software version 17, release 0 and subsequent, the control board will incorrectly store in the
diagnostic the new fault number 8. Reset the diagnostic.

If the test is NOT successful …

If a CBP contact does not open, the elevator car will remain at the landing where it is standing and the control
board automatically reactivates the erection operation.

If the elevator has car door contacts series before landing doors contacts one (traditional wiring), the door shall
remain open until the by-pass on the CPI contact is removed.

The DL6 LED is on and not flashing.

The malfunctioning door is indicated by the flashing of DL3÷DL5 LEDs and precisely:

• DL3= side A.
• DL4= side B.
• DL5= side C.

The technician will have to lower the elevator car, using the manual descent button or the ERO button panel,
climb on the elevator car roof and carry out all necessary operations. It is also possible to move in maintenance
status. In this case make sure to exit from the shaft using a door whose CBP contact is definitely working,
otherwise the maintenance operation will remain active and it will not be possible to resume the test.

After the malfunctioning CBP contact has been repaired, the test should be started again from step 2).

Note: On elevators with software 17, release 0 and subsequent and operators without AZ5001 drive, when an
FCAP contact is interrupted or not connected, the test shall stop immediately and record in the diagnostic the
new fault number 8.

Test interruption

It is possible to interrupt the test by pushing the red SW2 button; the erection operation is reactivated. The test
will start again from the lowest landing.

Test repetition

The test to check the CBP contacts can be carried out other times during the life of the elevator. After the
program has been activated, the first pressure of the black SW1 button on the CPU will enable the erection
operation; when pressing a second time the erection operation is disabled and the procedure is activated.

Please keep in mind that, in case of malfunctions, the erection operation will be activated again.

Note: it is not possible to deactivate the erection operation, neither with the preset of the E²PROM, neither by
turning off the control board during the test.

3.32.2 Transmission of data (trademark, icons, texts) to the Olympus LCD indicators

When the elevator uses Olympus LCD indicators, the eprom of the control board can store data to send to the
display. The transmission of data is activated automatically when exiting the erection operation, after the
performance of the automatic test of the door contacts.

The status of the transmission is indicated by the DL3÷DL6 LEDs according to the following pattern:

• DL3: if it is off, the transmission is on the shaft serial line, if it is on, it is on the elevator car serial line.
• DL4 flashing: transmission of company trademark to indicator below the position.
• DL5 flashing: transmission of a customised icon to indicator to the right of the position.
• DL5 flashing: transmission of texts to indicator below the position in alternative to the trademark.

When the transmission is completed the four LEDs will switch off.

Repetition of the transmission

The transmission of data can be performed other times during the life of the elevator, for example after the
replacement of a faulty display, simply by activating the program from the control board without then pushing the
black SW1 button on the CPU.

Interruption of the transmission

On elevators with software up to version 16, release 7 the transmission of data can be stopped by exiting the
program or raising the SW3 slide switch. In this case the indicator will continue working regularly and the display
shall not be modified.

On elevators with software version 17, release 0 and subsequent, even when exiting the program or raising the
SW3 slide switch, the transmission shall be completed anyway.

3.32.3 Language selection of Olympus voice synthesis

When the elevator is using an Olympus voice synthesis, the eprom in the control board stores the language to
be used by the synthesis if different from Italian (default) or if it needs to use more than languages. The
language modification is activated automatically when exiting the erection operation, after the performance of
the automatic test of the door contacts and the transmission of data to the display. This operation is immediate
and does not entail any display.

Note: the language is modified only after switching off and on the control board.

The language modification can be performed other times during the life of the elevator, for example after
replacing a malfunctioning voice synthesis. After the program has been activated, the first pressure of the black
SW1 button on the CPU will enable the erection operation; when pressing a second time the erection operation
is disabled and the transmission is activated.

Keep in mind that, if the characteristics of the elevator allow it, it is also possible to start the automatic test of the
landing doors contacts and the transmission of data to the display.

3.33 Selection of type of button at extreme landings for group elevators (VIP 900)

From version 4 release 3 of the software of the control board, at the extreme landings of the duplex groups with
single landing button panel VIP 900 model, a button with two independent contacts N/C and N/A is used.

• At the lowest landing the N/C contact must be connected to the shaft serial line of elevator A and the N/A
must be connected to the shaft serial line of elevator B.

• At the highest landing the N/C contact must be connected to the shaft serial line of elevator B and the N/A
must be connected to the shaft serial line of elevator A.

Before using it, contact N/C must be inverted, via software; this information is acquired by the control panel via
this parameter. The parameter set in the factory is already the correct one.

Note: this parameter cannot be activated if the elevator has a double button panel, does not belong to a group
or is the short elevator of a group of elevators with different landings number.

After selecting the program, the yellow LED DL3 will show if the inversion has been activated or not as indicated
in the table below:

Status of the
Meaning
LEDs
 Contact inversion disabled
 Contact inversion enabled
= LED ON = LED OFF

To modify the parameter, press the SW2 red button on the CPU; each time the button is pressed, the status of
the contact inversion changes.

Note: if this parameter has not been set properly the elevator car moves towards the extreme landing, keeps the
doors open and the reservation signal will flash because it is continuously recorded and cancelled as if the
button was continuously pressed.

4 SYSTEM CONTROLLED FROM THE MACHINE ROOM

In certain cases, mainly while performing tests and adjustments, it can be useful to control
the system from the machine room. For this purpose, some systems have a special button
panel called “ERO”.
On the contrary, it is always possible to send commands to the panel using the “remote
control” mode on the panel.
To access the “remote control” mode, lower the SW3 slide switch on the CPU; the four yellow
LEDs DL3÷DL6 on the CPU flash four times to indicate to the user that the function has been
entered. When the SW3 switch is lowered, outside calls are disabled and the current landing
indication on the indicators will flash.

Selecting the command

Once the “remote control” mode has been entered, you can select one of the four available
commands by pushing repeatedly the SW1 black button. The selected command is indicated
by one of the LEDs DL3÷DL6 as reported in the table below.
Once the desired command has been selected, push the SW2 red button to confirm the
selection; the command can be used only after confirmation.

Note: When the system is controlled by the local software, the elevator car and the landing
indicators flash. At the end of an inspection in the machine room, lift the SW3 slide switch on
the CPU.

Deleting the command selection

If, after having selected a certain command, you want to use a different one, delete first the
previous command selection; to do that, press the SW1 and SW2 buttons together for a
while; while you press the buttons, the LEDs flash to indicate that the command has been
accepted. After having performed this operation, the LEDs DL3÷DL6 will show the code of
the previous command and a different one can be selected.

Exiting the commands

To quit the “remote control” mode, lift the SW3 switch on the CPU.

4.1 Sending the elevator car to any landing )

(

Using this command, it is possible to make calls from the machine room and verify the proper
functioning of the system. Outside calls will be disabled as long as the system is controlled by
this function.

First of all, select the command n°1 as described o n page 90.

To select the arrival landing, push the SW1 black button for a number of times equal to the
number of the landing; the lowest landing corresponds to number 0 notwithstanding its
effective codification.
Push the SW2 red button to start the system; the running direction is shown by the LEDs DL3
(ascent) and DL6 (descent).
The SW1 and SW2 buttons are disabled when the elevator car is moving.

4.2 Sending the elevator car to the extreme landings )

(

Using this command, it is possible to have the MP5001 system travel between the extreme
landings.
This option makes it possible to check not only the proper functioning of the system, but also
of the limit switches; in order to perform this check, it is necessary to ignore the stop
magnets, as described below.
Outside calls will be disabled as long as the system is controlled by this function.

First of all, select the command n°2 as described o n page 90.

To start the system, press the SW1 black button for a while; if the elevator car is not moving
and occupies the descent stop (that is, it is standing at the lowest landing) it will move to the
highest landing; on the contrary, if it DOES NOT occupy the descent stop (that is, it IS NOT
standing at the lowest landing), it will move towards the lowest landing.
The running direction is shown by the LEDs DL3 (ascent) and DL6 (descent).

4.2.1 Checking the correct functioning of the safety devices

To verify the proper functioning of the safety devices, keep the SW2 red button pressed all
the time during the elevator car run; the led DL3 (or DL6 according to the running direction)
will start flashing to indicate that the command has been accepted.

WARNING! On elevators with software up to version 15 release 0, this operation makes the
panel ignore the stop magnets at the extreme landings, therefore the elevator car will stop,
with the safety devices at high speed. As this is a dangerous operation it must be
performed by authorized personnel only.

Note: on elevators with software version 16 release 0 and subsequent, this operation allows
the elevator car to slow down with the stops at extreme landings, but it ignores the landing
stop controls. Therefore, the elevator car will stop, with the safety devices, at low speed.

This command enables the automatic and continuous functioning of the MP5001 system; this
makes it possible to perform those control tests implying continuous measurements.
Outside calls will be disabled as long as the system is controlled by this function.

Note: On elevators with software version 17, release 0 and subsequent during the automatic
operation it is possible to register calls from the elevator car.

As soon as the command n°3 is selected, as describe d on page 90, press the SW1 black
button; by doing so the system will automatically start in the same direction of the last run.
The elevator car stops for a while at each landing and starts again in the same direction until
it reaches one of the extreme landings; at that point, the run starts again in the opposite
direction. The running direction is shown by the LEDs DL3 (ascent) and DL6 (descent).

In order to stop temporarily the system, push the SW2 red button; to start it again press the
SW1 black button.

Note: On elevators with software version 15 release 0 the stop at the landings is set at 10
seconds. On elevators with software version 16 release 0 and subsequent it is possible to
select the duration of the stop between two intervals: 10 seconds or 30 seconds. By briefly
pressing the SW1 black button it is possible to switch from one interval to the other, also
when the elevator car is running. When the 30 second stop has been selected, the DL5 LED
is on.

4.4 )
4.4 Disabling the door opening (

This command makes it possible to disable the door opening in order to prevent users from
entering the elevator car during the system maintenance.

First of all, select the command n°4 as described o n page 90.

The yellow led DL6 will display the door status as indicated in the following table:

the end of the closing deceleration. The aim of this breaking is to stop for an instant the movement of
the doors to overcome the inertia of the doors and of the counterweight in the closing deceleration
phase in order to reach the mechanical door stop with a speed higher than the low speed. If the
landing doors are very light, with wings or without counterweight, the stop could be very noticeable,
but this does not cause any malfunctioning. To decrease the intensity of the electric breaking
applied at the end of the closing deceleration, the TL/CN jumper should be extracted. The TL/CN
jumper on AZ5400 doors tractions with software release older than 4 does not cause any
effect.

The introduction of the DSBD device entails the following further modifications:

- 16 wires cable “O”

For the working of the DSBD it is necessary to bring to the control board a signal coming
from the TOCI box. For this purpose the number of wires of the flexible “O” cable has been
increased to 16 (from the previous 12). The “JSS” connector present on the elevator car’s
side must be connected directly to the homonymous connector on the TOCI box (see
following paragraph).

- JSS connector on the TOCI box

Notwithstanding all the other traditional features on the TOCI box of MP5001SE07 elevators
a cabling (JSS connector) was added in order to allow the connection to the control board of
a n.o. connector of the inspection commutator (figure C.3). This contact short-circuits the
DSBD bridge when the inspection operation is activated (figure C.1).

C.2 Automatic landing doors safety contacts efficiency test (§2.6)

The control board software automatically checks that at each stop of the elevator, the
safety contacts of the floor doors are working correctly.

This type of test was already present in the previous boards, but it was performed
automatically only once: when exiting the assembly operation that is when the elevator is put
into operation. The new introduced test keeps the floor doors contacts under control during
the whole life of the elevator.

The test introduced with the MP5001SE07 control boards allows the identification of the
cases where, for example due to an incorrect connection, the floor doors locking contact is
short-circuited; this avoids the risk of the elevator car moving with open floor doors.

- Inversion in the connection of landing doors and car door safety contact series

In order to enable the above described test, in the MP5001SE07 boards it has been
necessary to invert the traditional connection order of the doors safety contacts. As indicated
in the diagram in figure C.1, the landing doors safety contacts are connected upstream the
elevator car doors contacts.
Unlikely what happened in the previous families of control boards, the landing doors contacts
are connected between terminals 3-4 of the control boards, while the contacts of the elevator
car doors are connected between terminals 40-60.

Important note: The above description applies only to elevators with automatic landing
doors. On elevators with wings floor doors, the doors contacts are connected in the traditional
order and the test is not performed.

C.3 “Registered Alarm” pictogram in the elevator car (EN81-70 / EN81-28)

On the elevator car panel on MP5001SE07 elevators there is a green light indication which
turns on when the rescue service has correctly received and identified the alarm call
previously sent from the elevator car.
The switching on of the registered alarm light indication is controlled by the Helpy device on
the control board, when the rescue service communicates the identification of the elevator
sending the alarm call. At the same moment also the telephone communication between the
elevator car and the rescue service will be activated.
The “registered alarm” indication will switch off only when the mechanic working on the
elevator or the rescue service reset the alarm procedure.

According to the type of button panel, the green registered alarm indicator can be made in
three different ways (picture 4):

a) Button panels with Olympus LED indicator

The indication is supplied by the green luminous telephone shaped icon present on the
indicator.
b) Elevators with other indicator (Olympus LCD or DMG) and Olympus buttons
The indication is supplied by the alarm Olympus button. When the alarm call is sent the
alarm button becomes yellow; when the call centre records the call the indicator becomes
green.
c) Elevators with other display (Olympus LCD or DMG) and DMG buttons
The indication is supplied by an appropriate DMG indicator of the same model of the
buttons.

Picture 4 - Registered alarm green pictogram. Casa a) left and case b) right

The introduction of the “recorded alarm” indicator entails the following further modifications:

- 16 wires Cable “O”

For the management of the "registered alarm" indicator it is necessary to bring to the elevator
car a control signal coming from the control board (Helpy). For this purpose the number of
wires of the flexible “O” cable has been increased to 16 (from the previous 12) and the “AR”
terminal of the Helpy has been connected to terminal O14 (previously not used). The “AR”
connector present on the elevator car’s side (picture 2) must be connected directly to the
homonymous connector on the cabling of the elevator car button panel (see following
paragraph).

- Cabling of elevator car button panel

An “AR” connector was added to the cabling of the elevator car button panel in order to make
the connection with the green light indicator (figures C.4 and C.5). The example of
connection in figure C.5 shows the most common case of button panels with Olympus LED
indicator; the wires that here are connected to the “-AL” and “+AL” terminals of the display will
have to be connected to the terminals of the green indicator (Olympus or DMG) if the button
panels feature another model of display.

C.4 “Altivar71” Schneider-Telemecanique inverter

The Schneider-Telemecanique inverter model “Altivar71” replaces the “Altivar 58 Lift”

model in controllers with frequency converter.

The “Altivar 71” inverter has some important new features compared to the “Altivar 58” model
previously used.
- The expansion card of the I/O which was mounted on the Altivar58 is not present
anymore.
- The cooling fans have a thermostat and they are activated only when the temperature of
the inverter requires it. Therefore, it is not any more necessary to have the resistive circuit
which was applied to the Altivar58 in order to reduce the speed of the fans and therefore
their noise.
- In addition to the key pad present as a standard on all inverters, for the Altivar71 series
there is a graphic programming terminal which can be applied directly on the device or
connected with a remote cable. This graphic terminal is easy to use and allows a quick
and intuitive understanding of the parameters; it is not supplied as a standard but it can
be requested to Ceam as a tool.
- The 5.5 Kw model is slightly longer compared to the corresponding Altivar58. Therefore in
the ECO_E control boards for elevators over 500 Kg duty, where there is less space
available the contactors have been placed beside the inverter and not below any more.

- Programming the Altivar71

The name of some parameters and their organisation in menus and submenus has been
modified. The inverters parameter setting is made, as much as possible, by Ceam’s factory.
The installer will have to input the characteristic parameters of the engine and execute the
autotuning procedure.

C.5 New wiring for the hoistway illumination (LIH )

The wiring for hoistway illumination is supplied completely pre-assembled.

The special sheath used in the new cablings for hoistway illumination gives the possibility to
remove the external protection pipe and therefore have a single piece cabling. This translates
into significantly easier assembly operations because the previous modular solution required
the assembly and wiring of the various modules in the job site. Now the installer only has to
do the connection to the power supply board and to fix it to the wall. This last operation is
performed with pressure plugs and clamps and does not require any pipes or external
protection horizontal bars.

The cabling for the illumination of the MP5001SE07 hoistway is supplied in two variants: one
for machineroomless elevators (Evolux and ECO_E) and one for traditional elevators.

- Machineroomless elevators (Evolux – ECO_E)

The cabling consists of two pre-cablings which can be installed in the hoistway
independently: one is for the socket/switch group to be installed in the pit and the other for
the lamps.

- Traditional elevators (with machine room or FLAT)

A single pre-cabling includes lamps and switch/socket group for the pit. The cabling is
installed in the traditional way by connecting it first to the power supply board, subsequently
fixing the socket/switch group in the pit and continuing from the bottom up with the installation
of the lamps.

C.6.2 New emergency 53Vdc power supply

The “ADE” power supply (230Vac/53-26Vdc) used for the emergency descent on hydraulic
elevators and for the emergency operation of ECO_ E elevators is supplied by a new
manufacturer. The aesthetics is slightly different from the usual, but the performances, the
technical features and the electrical and mechanical interfaces remain the same.

C.6.3 CUV modifications

In the “D” connector of the CUV wiring, the white/brown and brown wires for the connection
of the landing alarm indication (Italian code) have been moved from terminals D4-D6 to
terminals D7-D9 respectively. This modification allows the standardization of the controllers
wiring which in the past were different in the case of automatic doors (alarm indication in D4-
D6) or semiautomatic (alarm indication in D7-D9).

C.6.4 Modifications of ECO_E main switches panel

The ECO_E main switches panel has been simplified as indicated in the following picture.

C.6.5 Elimination of oil level indicator LED from ECO_E controllers

The LED for the light indication of the oil level and the related explanation label have been
removed from ECO_E boards.

INSTRUCTION FOR THE ASSEMBLY AND STARTING

Operation of the platform with maintenance button panel

The operation of the platform can occur only if all the contacts on the safety series are closed.
Because many of them, when it is necessary to move the platform, have not been mounted yet, it
is necessary to use a specific cabling supplied by Ceam.
The assembly of the elevator without this cabling can cause the breakage of the electronic boards
and the limitation of the warranty.

Note: If there is no cabling, please request it to Ceam together with the instructions.

Example of use of the cabling for the assembly

Exit from the assembly

After the assembly, the elevator cannot start working before the regular functioning of the floor
doors contacts has been verified. In order to activate the test procedure and to exit the assembly,
please refer to chapter 3.32 (Enabling / Disabling of assembly operation).

Codification of floor button panels and displays

After the assembly, it is necessary to codify the floor button panels and displays which are not
programmed by the factory. For the programming please refer to chapter
3.24 (Buttons encoding and Olympus floor display).

Assembly diagram

For the assembly of the junction box on the elevator car roof, of the components connected to it,
of the hoistway lines, of the magnets in the hoistway and of anything else concerning the electric
components, please refer to the diagrams list included in each control panel. The supervisor will
supply the list of the updated diagrams.
