Listening 3: part 2

A: Good morning. This is number 90 coffee and Snack Bar. How can I help you?

B: Good morning. I’m looking for a part-time job. And I saw your advert on your
website. So I am wondering how I apply. I do have some experience of working in a
coffee shop. And I did enjoy doing that work. So I am hope I’ll able to come and work
with you.

A: Fine. Thank you for phoning. Yes, we’re looking for some additional part time
staff. Particularly, to work at our busy times, which are weekends and early evenings.
Of course, If you are ready had some experiences, that will be great. However, I think
we had better start by getting more information about you. And then, you will have to
come in for an interview with our manager. He’s not available at the moment, but I
can make the arrangement for him.

B: Great! So, what do you need to know? Is there a formal something I have to fill in?
I could not see anything on the website.

A: No, you don’t need to fill in a form or application form. Our manager, Mr. Mitchell
likes to meet people and make his decision after the interview, but of course, we need
things like your name and contact details. I just need to take some details and we can
fix the time for the interview. Is that OK with you?

B: Yes, of course. I have to go and catch the bus in about 10 minutes, but I’m sure we
can finish in that time. So, my name’s Jack Mason. I’m 19 years old and a full-time
student of business study. I just move to live here in Mapleton. I am starting at college
next week and I need to earn some money to help pay for my study.

A: Right, Jack Mason. What’s your address and your phone number? And I am sure
you also have an email address. Everyone does these days.

B: My address is 22 Station Road Mapleton, Mp648W and my email address is

JMM46@mail.com. My mobile number is 08991355421

A: Slow down, slow down, your address is 22 Station road Mpt and the post code is
MP6 48W. Is that right?

B: Yes, that’s right. And phone number is 0899 1355 421

A: Right. I got that. Now the email address JMM

B: JMM46@mal.com. Those are mine initials. Jack Michael Mason is my full name.
And the number 46 is my lucky number.

A: Fine. I got that. Now we need to find the time for you to come in and meet the
boss. You said you are starting college next week, so maybe we should try and arrange
for you to come in before you start.Mr. Mitchell is here on Thursday and Friday
afternoon. He’s busy on Thursday morning, but we could find a time either Thursday
or Friday afternoon. Are you free?

B: Oh yes. That would work! Thursday afternoon would be better, because I think my
parents are coming to visit me on Friday to see if I have settled in. If I could tell them I
have already been to an interview, they would be really impressed. My dad always
think I am lazy and not prepare to work. Oh, there is just one thing though I won’t
know my timetable when I started college so I get the job I won’t know when I am
free to work.

A: Don’t worry about that. As I told you earlier our busy times are evenings and
weekends. And I don’t think you’ll be having lectures every evening of the week and
the weekends. Those are our busy times, so let’s agree on Thursday afternoon for the
interview. Would 3 o’clock suit you? I think Mr. Mitchell would like to spend half an
hour with you. And also, I will show you around. Would be that convenient?

B: Oh yes, That’s OK. What do you need me to bring? I do have references from the
coffee pub where I worked before.

A: Oh yes. That would be helpful. We will need some prove of identity. So bring your
passport or a driving license with your photo and proof of your address here in
Mpton.A utility bill your or at least your rental agreement. I will email you confirming
the interview time and list every there.
