C. Lesson Proper

1. Discussion:
What is Heart Rate? the number of times the heart beats within a certain time period, usually a
minute.
How to get your heart rate: To check your pulse at your wrist, place two fingers between the bone
and the tendon over your radial artery — which is located on the thumb side of your wrist. When
you feel your pulse, count the number of beats in 15 seconds. Multiply this number by four to
calculate your beats per minute or count your pulse rate within one minute.
What is Target Heart Rate? range of numbers that reflect how fast your heart should be beating
when you exercise. Indicator when your heartbeat enters the fat burning heart rate.

How to get your target heart rate:

Formula: (Maximum Heart Rate) x 0.7 = Target Heart Rate

Maximum Heart Rate (MHR) = 220 – (Your Age)

Ex. 220 – 32 = 188 bpm (Your MHR)
Target Heart Rate: (188) x 0.7 = 131.6 or 132 bpm

2. Activity: Let’s Dance Festively

The students will get their target heart rate. After performing simple steps in festival dance record
their heart rate and compare with their target heart rate.
Simple Steps in Festival Dance:
KRA 1-Objective 1: Applied knowledge of content within and across curriculum teaching areas-
Lesson from Math (M7MEIIa-3) and Science (S9LT-lc-27)
KRA 1- Objective 2: Used research-based knowledge and principles of teaching and learning to
enhance professional practice. https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/ED519106.pdf
KRA 2- Objective 8: Applied a range of successful strategies that maintain learning environments
that motivate learners to work productively by assuming responsibility for their own learning.
KRA 3-Objective 9: Designed, adapted, and implemented teaching strategies that are responsive
to learners with disabilities, giftedness, and talents.
KRA 3- Objective 10: Adapted and used culturally appropriate teaching strategies to address the
needs of learners from indigenous groups.

KRA 1- Objective 4: Used effective verbal and non-verbal classroom communication strategies to
support learner understanding, participation, engagement, and achievement.
5. Application:
The student will perform again the activity “Let’s Dance Festively!” with in five days. And then
record their heart rate. and observe some improvements in their body especially heart rate.

Based on your records, briefly answer the following questions. Write your answer on the separate
paper.
1. What are the changes in your training heart rate and resting heart from day 1 to day 5?
2. Did your heart rate improve from this activity? How?

KRA 2- Objective 5: Established safe and secure learning environments to enhance learning
through the consistent implementation of policies, guidelines and procedures. Reminding
students in Group 4 to be careful in preparing and executing actions that cannot harm their
groupmates.

to encourage learning.
KRA 2- Objective 7: Maintained learning environments that nurture and inspire learners to
participate, cooperate and collaborate in continued learning
KRA 2- Objective 8: Applied a range of successful strategies that maintain learning environments
that motivate learners to work productively by assuming responsibility for their own learning.
(by giving differentiated activity)
KRA 3-Objective 9: Designed, adapted, and implemented teaching strategies that are responsive
to learners with disabilities, giftedness, and talents.
KRA 3- Objective 10: Adapted and used culturally appropriate teaching strategies to address the
needs of learners from indigenous groups.
IV. Evaluation 1. James know that he needs to be physically fit. He wants to know if what is his Target Heart
Rate in order him to plan for his daily exercise. If Boboy’s age is 25, what is his Target Hear
Rate?

2. How can you convince James to use simple festival dance step in his exercise plan
