PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND HEALTH 7

Most Essential Learning Competency: The learner undertakes physical activity and physical
fitness assessments ( PE7PF-Iah-23)

Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of guidelines and principles in exercise
program design to achieve personal fitness

Performance Standard: The learner modifies the individualized exercise program to achieve personal
fitness

I. Learning Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:
a. classify skill-related components through sets of images;
b. reflect on the importance of practicing skill-related physical activities; and
c. execute physical exercises that help improve skill-related components.

II. Subject Matter


a. Topic : Skill-Related Fitness Components
b. Reference/s: Physical Education and Health 7, pages 12
c. Time Allotment: 15 minutes
d. Materials : laptop and projector, powerpoint presentation, images and
graphics interchange format of skill-related physical activities.
e. Strategies: technology-assisted learning, collaborative learning, and
demonstration.
III. Procedure
A. Preliminaries

B. Motivation
The teacher will administer a pre-assessment activity to assess the learners’
knowledge about skill- related fitness.

C. Lesson Proper
➢ The teacher will now introduce the lesson about skill-related components of
physical fitness by asking first the students about WHAT IS SKILL?
➢ The teacher will present the definition of skill-related fitness and its components
after the students have given their own understanding about the word “skill”
SKILL-RELATED FITNESS
- the aspect of fitness which form the basis for successful sport or activity
participation.
- refers to body performance
SKILL-RELATED FITNESS COMPONENTS
1. Agility – the ability of an individual to quickly shift or change direction of the
body from one point to other.
2. Balance – the ability to stay in equilibrium in relation to changes in body position.
a. Static balance – balance demonstrated in stationary position.
b. Dynamic balance – demonstrated while the body is moving.
c. Rational balance – maintained or regained balance after turning, rolling and
falling
3. Coordination – the integration with hand and/or foot movements with the input of
the sense.
4. Power – ability to perform one maximum effort in the shortest time possible.
– the product of both strength and speed.
5. Reaction- time – the amount of time it takes to respond to a stimulus.
6. Speed – the ability to perform a task or move from one point to another in the
shorter possible time.
➢ The following are expected to be answered by the students during the discussion.
1. Compare and contrast skill-related fitness to health-related fitness based from
the previous and present discussion.
2. What human daily activities or circumstances can we relate to the given skill-
related fitness components?
3. What other examples of position or movements where the type of balance can be
manifested?
4. Compare and contrast agility to speed.
➢ The students will execute movements or exercises related to each component as the
teacher have it first demonstrated to them. Some of the movements or exercises
will be done with a partner.

Agility – shuffle steps clap


Balance – stork stand with variations (left or right leg)
Coordination – paper juggling
Power – standing long-jump
Reaction-Time - drop and catch the pens
Speed – palm catch and tap

D. Generalization
➢ The teacher will ask the students to do a recap of the skill-related components
discussed.
➢ The teacher will ask the students the following questions for them to reflect on.
1. Which of the following components should you give more attention to be
developed or improved?
2. What are the tips you can share in order to improve your skill-related fitness?
3. What is the importance of engaging in skill-related fitness activities?
