B. Presentation of the lesson

As we all know a traditional dance in the Philippines connects us
to a place’s culture. It is about history, traditions and majestic
beauty of the place it is associated with. The culture dances in the
Philippines evolved from different regions which are distinct from
one another as they are affected by religion and culture.

Everybody kindly read the definition in the slide deck.

(Everybody is reading)
At the end of the lesson, the learners are
expected to:
a. Identify the classification of
Philippine Folk Dance;
b. Appreciate the importance of folk
dances in the Philippines; and
c. Perform the dance competencies
of Lapay bantigue properly.

Discussion
Our new lesson for this afternoon is all about the Philippine Folk
Dance
“Now, I want you to read and understand the nature of Folk Dance
When you hear the word Folk Dance, what comes into your mind?”

Anyone?”
(students will raise their hands)
(pick 2 students to answer)

Okay Jefferson & Romar kindly read the definition in the slide deck.

Jefferson: Folk Dance is a dance

developed by people that reflect the life
of the people of a certain country or
region. But not all ethnic dances are folk
dance. For example, ritual dances or
dances of ritual origin are not considered
to be folk dances. Ritual dances are
usually called “Religious dances” because
of their purpose.

Romar: The term “ethnic” and

“traditional” are used when it is required
to emphasize the cultural roots of the
dance. In this sense, nearly all folk dances
are ethnic ones. If some dances, such as
polka, cross ethnic boundaries and even
cross the boundary between “folk” and
“ballroom dance”, ethnic differences are
often considerable enough to mention.
Thank you! Now that you already know our topic, let’s try to look
at this short video the proper steps in Lapay Bantigue.
