An attachment piping is, by definition, an assembly or a group
of hydraulic system components and associated mechanical
parts identical in use and function and common in use to all
parts and sub-assemblies of hydraulic attachments on TOYOTA
forklift trucks.
Such assemblies, designated as A4 series attachment piping,
are classified according to the function that a specific type of
hydraulic attachment is designed to perform.
PURPOSE AND USE
The A4 series attachment piping not only provides a basis for
the installation of various attachments but can also be supplied
installed on a truck for installation of an attachment by the
distributor, dealer or customer.
SCOPE OF A4 SERIES ATTACHMENT PIPING
The attachment piping refers to the arrangement of hydraulic
control elements (valves, etc.), hydraulic conductors (pipes and
hoses), fittings and other mechanical members such as lever
linkage, guide pulleys, which are located from control valve unit
on the truck to the connector, or rotary joint, mounted on the lift
bracket.

NOTE:
The illustrated truck-and-attachment combination applies to the trucks with capacities
from 1 to 3 tons, featuring pneumatic or cushion tires, and with the attachment
mounted on the V mast.
A breakdown of component parts is listed below.
(1) Oil control valve, lever and its linkage.
(2) Flexible pipe lines or hoses wound on guide pulleys or reels.
(3) Pipes connected to hoses.
(4) Guide pulleys or reels.
(5) Other mechanical parts such as brackets, clamps.
(6) Connectors or rotary joints.
A rotary joint is included in the piping system for full-free lift
masts (F, FV, FS and FSV) using the hose reel outside the
mast assembly.
(7) Fittings or hose end connections, such as nipples.
(8) Blanks or blind plugs.
Hydraulic piping systems for some attachments may include a
relief valve and a pressure indicator, while these items are
optionally available on some other attachments. Attachment
piping system requires the use of a lift bracket specially adapted
for each specific type of attachment.
HYDRAULIC PIPING SYSTEM FOR ATTACHMENT
Fitted with a hydraulic attachment in front, the entire truck may
be considered as a combination of the “truck” itself and the
“attachment” plus an “A4 attachment piping” with the
modification of a connector.

control elements are available either as standard equipment, or
an optional fitting depending upon the type attachment.

PIPING SYSTEM FOR MAST ASSEMBLY

With this types of hose line reeving, the hose guide pulley or
reel is positioned at the upper outside section of the outer mast.
This gives the operator much the same extent of forward
visibility through the mast as he may have from the standard
model.

 Hose Guide Pulleys Inside Mast

The main feature of this type of piping is that all hydraulic lines
are positioned inside the mast beams. This means that there is
little chance of them being accidently damaged so the operator
need not worry about them when operating in cramped areas.
V Mast FV Mast
While the width of the mast remains unchanged, the placing of
the hoses inside of the mast beams has slightly hampered
forward visibility. TOYOTA has placed the hoses as close to
the mast beams as possible, so that this negative affect is kept
to a minimum.

GENERAL ORDERING INFORMATION
Let us explain some ordering examples by using these two
ordering cases as follows:
1. When the truck is ordered as assembled complete with
the hydraulic attachment and the attachments piping
(1) The truck can be shipped as assembled with the hydraulic
attachment complete with the attachment piping system. In this
case, it is unnecessary to state any code number assigned to
that attachment piping system required for a
truck-and-attachment combination, since the contents of the
attachment piping system has been determined by the
manufacturer.
In this case, however, it is quite essential to check the
characteristics of the load to be handled, such as weight, size,
and other handling requirements, in addition to the adaptability
of the hydraulic attachment and the lift height of the mast on
which it is mounted.
(2) It is also requested to clarify the necessity of a relief valve
and an oil pressure indicator for use with the attachment on
order.

2. When the truck is ordered as assembled only with the
attachment piping system
(1) Select and state the specific code number for the attachment
piping system for suitable combination with the hydraulic
attachment.
(2) As the hydraulic attachment is locally installed on the original
equipment and properly matched up with the attachment piping
on the original equipment, it is imperative to check the number
of hose lines, the location of hose end connections as well as
the lift height of the mast, the capacity rating of the truck, and
the characteristics of load to be handled on the attachment.
(3) It is also requested to clarify the necessity of the pressure
indicator.
The pressure indicator is calibrated to give readings in terms of
kilograms per square centimeters (kg/cm2) only.
NOTE:
(1) When the truck as the original equipment is required to have a 3-way or a 4-way
control valve combination, the attachment valve is optionally available but without
any attachment piping from this unit to the connector on the lift bracket.
(2) In this case also, it is requested to state the necessity of a relief valve and an oil
pressure indicator (calibrated in kg/cm2 only) piped to the control valve unit.
