FRANCISCAN MISSION OUTREACH + ACTIVITY REPORT + SPRING 2021

The three young people that FMO cosponsored at

J A M A I C A Christmas for heart surgery in Cameroon were all

operated on successfully. We received the following
leĦer from the mother of Melissa.

We wish to thank you very much for helping our

daughter Fointama Melisa with her surgery fee. We
do not know where we would have gone to without
you. You love us with the love of Christ without
knowing Melisa.
May our God conÈnue to bless you people. We
lack words to say thank you. We are very, very happy.

er a year of absence due to COVID restricĊons, Fr.
Herald spent five weeks in Jamaica in January 2021.
Two weeks of quaranĊne were followed by three
weeks of intense acĊvity: communion calls,
anoinĊngs, distribuĊng food packages, Masses in
mission chapels. While there the remaining wooden
slat windows were replaced by new glass ones in a
CAMEROON
project in which FMO matched local donaĊons.
 HONDURAS
The Diocese of La Ceiba on the north coast of Honduras was hard hit by the back-to-back Hurricanes Eta and
Iota last November. FMO sent two installments of financial support to provide emergency relief to the vicĊms.

As things have slowly opened up in

U.S. PREACHING

the U.S., Fr. Herald has resumed

public preaching acĊvity. This past
Lent, he began speaking on the new
theme of “Live as Children of the
Light: The Light of Truth, the Light of
Love and the Light of Peace,” in
response to the confusion and conflict
that seem so pervasive at present. To

FMO has also promoted the special
Year of St. Joseph proclaimed by Pope
Francis. Fr. Herald has preached on
topics drawn from Pope Francis’
apostolic leĦer, Patris Corde / With a
