President
Saint Columban College
Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur

Dear Father,

Panagdait sa tanan!

It is with sadness that I write this letter to inform you of my decision to resign in my position as a Senior
High School Teacher and as an Employee in Saint Columban College.

I’ve been working here for 5 years and I have enjoyed the job and the people I work with that turn into
my closest friends. I know I am not a good employee to your eyes and ears. I have lapses also a friend,
Colleague, Employee, Teacher and I am afraid that this situation is making me come out (wrongly) as
someone unable to work properly. But I am true to my work in giving my best to deliver quality
education as what the school vision and mission are. And leaving here makes me sad because I’m
leaving my job, my friends and my beloved students. As I look back Father Gilbert Hingone ask me this
during my interview with him, “How many years are you going to stay here? And if ever you are going to
leave in this institution, what makes you quit?” For that, I never imagine my words, and my answer will
come true. I answered, “Maybe 5 years from now Father. And if I’m going to quit maybe one of the
reasons is not having a good working environment, having a conflict, or I am not appreciated, or I am
going to pursue my goals in life. I am leaving to pursue my dream of not working here in this kind of
environment. And I thank God for giving me this kind of experience in life and the opportunity to get out
of my comfort zone. Saint Columban College is like my home. I get some jokes from my co-teachers
“Wow! Love parang nasa bahay lang”. For these past few years, I am very comfortable in spending my
time in SCC. And here I grow up as a better version of myself every day from being a shy type to being as
true to herself, to fight for what is true, and to listen to the other side of the story. I learned so much for
these past for years and I sacrifice so much to the extend I forgot my goals in life. I may not become a
medical doctor but I know some of my students will. I may not be the best teacher they ever had but
some of them will change the educational system. And maybe I don’t know what lies ahead of me and
my plans but one thing for sure I will not step back. I will walk hand in hand with the grace of God and
the people who believe in me. As Joshua 1:9 said, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and
courageous. Do not afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you
go.”

I am forever grateful for the opportunity to work here. I wish you and the school the very best, moving
forward.

“Around here, however, we don’t look backward for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up
new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious…and curiosity keeps leading us down new
paths.” (Walt Disney, Meet the Robinsons)

Thank you and God bless!

Sincerely,

Lovenia Faith L. Rosal
