Task 1: The pie charts below show the average household expenditures in a country in 1950

and 2010.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant.

The picture compares the proportion of household costs in a country in 1950 and 2010.

Overall, it is obvious that the major criteria in 1950 is housing, while the demand for
health care is not popular. Also, all the categories are separated equally in 2010, but the
need for healthiness still is the smallest choice.

In 1950, the percentage of housing took up nearly three quarters and it is the highest
rate in the chart as well. In addition, the figure for sustenance was 11.2 percent, while
the price of the other was only 4.4 percent. Moreover, the number of educational
expenditure only made up 6.6 percent, but it was two times as much as transportation.
Likewise, the amount of money for health care was 2.4 percent.

On the other hand, in 2010 the proportion of food surpassed the housing with the
amount of money was 34 percent. Similarly, the figure for the other expenses went up
sharply to nearly a fifth and the transportation also increased from 3.3 to 14 percent. In
contrast, the housing price dropped significantly, at 22 percent. Besides, the costs for
education and health care rose slightly, at 6.3%, 4.5%, respectively.
Task 2:
Some people think that physical strength is important for success in sport, while
other people think that mental strength is more important.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

It would be argued by some that physical ability is considered a vital factor to

decide the victory in sport. In my opinion, however, mental power is more
necessary for the players.

On the one hand, there are a number of reasons why some believe the huge
importance of physical strength in sports. The first reason is good physical
strength makes people easily defeat the opponent in the match. For example in
arm wrestling, the only thing you need is the power to knock out the rival. Next,
another reason is abundant physical health plays an important role in energy
conditioning. It is because when playing in several sports, you could not take part
in without using energy.

On the other hand, I would argue that mental strength is more influential to
gamers. Firstly, mental health brings a great deal of confidence as well as
calmness. This means the victory of a match depends on not only power but our
spirit. Secondly, it also helps to be able to focus while under the pressure of
competition. For instance, when you play chess, concentration could defend you
from the awkward moves of competitors.

To sum up, although some people tend to think that strengthening physical health
is such a great way to win a sporting game, I personally believe that mental
strength is the key element to be the winner in every game.
