Asking For and Giving Directions


You use Wh- questions to ask for directions.
To give directions, you use Imperatives and expressions like Go straight ahead, Turn right or
Turn left. You do not use a subject.

Asking for directions Giving directions


Where is ... ? Go straight ahead.
Where do I find ... ? Turn right/left.
How do I get to ... ? Walk across the bridge.

Examples:
• Andrew: Excuse me, how do I get to the stadium?
Beth: Go straight ahead.
• Michael: Where is the library?
