ACTIVITY ANALYSIS

1. Activity analysis (250-300 words)


1.1 Goal
Teachers usually use the hangman game to warm up in the beginning of class or revise
the vocalbularies students have learnt. Through this fun activity, students are willing and
exceited to learn the new lesson. This language game helps check student’s comprehesion
and also help students remember vocabularies better.
1.2 Input
Teacher gives students oral instruction to know how to play the hangman game. Teacher
presents the rules of the game to make sure students understand and take part in the activity
well. The materials of the hangman game include of board, markers, wipes which are often
found in class.
1.3 Procedures
First, teacher gives the rules of the hangman game and how to play the game to students.
Next, teacher divides class into two teams which have the same number of students. Then,
teacher picks a word that is familier to students and draws some dashes representating the
number of letters of word students have to guess on the board. After that, students guess a
letter. If the letter is in the word, write it in the approriate spaces and if the letter is not in the
word, write it off to the side and then draw the figure of hanged man. The students continute
the game by suggesting the letters until a team guesses correct word first and win game or a
team comepletes the image of the hanged man and lose the game.
1.4 Outcome
Through the game, students develop their writting and speaking skill. Students have to
remember correct spell of many words and guess quickly word from a several letters.
Students also have chance to improve their speaking skill when they pronounce the finding
word in order to winning the game. Besides, students have opportunity to develop the ability
of comunication and working-group. In the period of playing game, children can contribute
their strong friend relationship and motivate them to learn English.
1.5 Teacher and learner roles
Teacher’s roles is a facilitator, instructioner and monitor. The role of students is
participant.
1.6 Organization
Students will work in groups and they are divided to two groups. Two groups will
compete to guess the correct letters and words.
2. Activity evaluation (250-300 words)
(participative, meaningful, time-effective, cost-effective, adaptable, non-threatening)
The hangman game is a famous traditional game in ESL class and many students like
playing this game for a long time. This activity is very fun and interesting to warm up
class, improve student's learning motivation, keep their focus in learning and it is also a
usefull activity to stimulate learning English language in especially in teaching of
vocabulary. In the hangman game, children can expand their vocabulary by playing with
words when this activity makes children more active and interested in learning
vocabularies. This game helps students improve their memory and spelling as well as
increase their work-in groups, communication ability. The hangman game does not spend
much time and money. It usually lasts for a short time about 5-7 minutes and the material
for playing this game is usually available in class such as board, marker, wipe. In
addition, this activity does not require to change the seat organization of students a lot
and a large space like some other activities. Teacher can group many students sitting
close together into a group so that is easy for teacher to manage the class and do not make
much noise. Concerning to non-threatening issues, students do not have to make many
movements to play this game so it is difficult to have unfortunate accident when children
take part in. This activity is most suitable for young learners who can understand and use
some words and short, simple phrase. This game does not require students to have high
speaking skills or speak long sentences. They can only say letters of the alphabets to play
this game, so all students in class can join the game happily.
3. Potential problems anticipation and solutions (100 words)

During the period of playing the hangman game, students can make a lot of noise as they
are excited to compete with each other. In this case, the teacher as facilitator should handle
the problem by reminding the students not to make noise. Before playing the game, the
teacher should command the students to be obedient and not make noise while they are
playing the game. In addition, it may be difficult for some students to understand the
teacher's instructions about the rules and how to play the game Hangman. In this case, the
teacher should use simple, clear and concise words to explain the rules and how to play.
Teachers also ask students to check how well they understand the rules of the game to make
sure they're having fun.
