It has been a busy first year as an instructor in the flight

training department here in Nampa, Idaho. I have

enjoyed the challenge of learning my new role and
getting back into the cockpit again. One of my first
tasks was to fly with Rutger Bakker. Rutger is a recent
graduate from the Mission Aviation Training Centre, a
school located in the Netherlands designed to train
pilots for service with Mission Aviation Fellowship.
Rutger (along with his wife and kids) came to Nampa
earlier this year and spent several months completing
MAF’s training course to prepare him for overseas
service. It was encouraging to be able to use my
experience as a pilot in Lesotho to impact those just
beginning service with MAF.
Since departing Nampa, the Bakker family has relocated
to Suriname, and Rutger has begun flying operationally
as an MAF pilot.

In the meantime, he is still
rooting for the Seattle Seahawks
and now Boise State as well.

Caleb— He’s not yet driving, but

we recently purchased his first
car. It’s a “fixer-upper,” perfect
for him to learn how to work on
cars and for him and me to
spend time together. We are
blessed that he is able to attend
Cole Valley Christian School
here in Idaho.

Hard to believe Evi is old enough for senior photos

Evi—On October 20th, Evi turned 18 and is beginning to

make plans for after graduation in May. Last month she
had the opportunity to visit one school in Texas, and we
are currently going through the financial aid process.
Pray for wisdom as she makes plans for what’s next.
