Make the students sit in a circle. Give them a soft toy (e.g. teddy bear). Instruct them to pass it on to the

Write a largesized number 1 on the board. Ask the students to put their color pencils/crayons
on their tables. Call them randomly or one by one. Ask them to count and bring only one single
crayon with them and put it on your table (or in your hand). As they do so, say loudly that this
in 1 crayon and point out to the Number 1 written on the board. Encourage them to repeat
after you.

tray using their index fingers. Repeat this activity several time with each student. Ask them:

that we are doing this activity because it will help us to trace number 1 on the paper with a
pencil. Clap for the children who trace number 1 with accuracy. Motivate other ones to do the
same so that they can also be appreciated by clapping.

Tell the students that now we are going to trace number 1. Ask them to open their Prenursery
Math A book on page no 4. Guide them to hold their pencils properly and start tracing the
enlarged number 1. After this activity ask them to look at the picture and count the balloons.
There is only one balloon, repeat this information so they could understand that number one will
always be denoted with numeral “1” and will we present only “one object”. Ask them to paste 1
sticker of bear on the table given on page no 4.
Extensions SEN: [K][V] Distribute coloured playdough among students. Ask them to roll it
and make long strips like number 1. Clap for the students who make comparatively
more accurate straight strip of number 1.

Activity 2: [V][K]
Tell the students that they are going to trace number 5. Open their books on page 12. Guide
them to hold their pencils properly and start tracing the enlarged number 5. Explain the
directions using directional arrows again. After this activity ask them to look at the picture
and count the puzzle pieces. There are 5 puzzle pieces. Tell them that there is number 5
hidden in the picture of these puzzle pieces. Draw the puzzle pieces on the board and show
them the shape of 5 on it. Repeat that number 5 will always be denoted with numeral “5” and
will present “5 objects”. Ask them to paste 5 stickers of apples on the tree.
