INTRODUCTION
The Philippine Government implemented the lockdown in the country on March 15,
2020, a month early for the students’ year end break. Teachers, students and even
parents faced challenges with the introduction of New Normal as the new school year
started a few months after the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country.

The Department of Education has approved some schools to re-open for the
implementation of limited face-to-face classes with certain health protocols to be
followed to help maintain the virus from spreading and to ensure the safety of learners.

After the approval of pilot testing of limited face-to-face classes last year, DepEd
decided to expand the implementation of reopening schools throughout the country.
Naguilian National High School was given permission to conduct the limited face-to-
face classes this school year.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

General Objectives
This study aims to know the perspective of learners and regarding the
implementation of limited face to face classes.

Specific Objectives
• To know how the learners feel and what they think about returning to school
during the pandemic.
• To know their preference between the traditional face-to-face classes and
the new normal.
• To know how they are prepared in adapting to the new normal in face to
face classes.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This study aims to know the opinions of learners regarding the implementation of face-to-face classes in
NNHS. The individuals who can benefit from this study are the following:

Learners
-To help them assert their perspective about their experience on the limited face to face classes.
Teachers
-Allows them to differentiate their involvement in conducting limited face-to-face compared to the
traditional way.
Family members
-Enables them to know how to adjust to the situation that their members are undergoing to help them by
supporting and giving them things they need to cope up with.
School Staff
-Help the learners and teachers to prepare and facilitate resources that are needed for the
implementation of face to face classes.
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

This study on the implementation of limited face-to-face classes

was conducted at Naguilian National High School at Imelda,
Naguilian, La Union during the months of May 2022 until June
2022. This field of investigation focused on Senior High School
learners from Naguilian National High School. An online survey
form has been used to reach the respondents and gather more
data. Learners who refused to respond on the online survey form
are not considered participants of the study.
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Benefits of face-to-face classes to learners
Most students are accustomed to the traditional way of studying; going to
school to study and form social relationships. Face-to-face teaching sparks
innovative questions and provides for an easier way of interaction. Having the
chance to network and bond with others allows students to build camaraderie
and create connections. It also allows students to be more disciplined with the
guidance of the instructor. Studying at school grants students real-time
experiences that can help with their growth as an individual. Face-to-face
instruction has numerous benefits not found in its online counterpart (Xu and
Jaggars, 2016).
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Disadvantages of prolonged school closures to learners

The quality of education and learners’ emotional & cognitive development are
severely impacted by a lack of in-person engagement with peers. Students are
learning less under distance learning modalities, according to a UNICEF-SWS
survey in May 2021.
They are more vulnerable to abuse and gender-based violence, including: sexual
exploitation, child marriage, and child labor at home without the protection that
school frequently provides, especially in the stressful environment of the epidemic.

Implementation of Limited Face to Face Classes To
Selected Areas
DepEd data showed that a total of 165 out of 177 additional public schools qualified
to join the pilot run of the limited face-to-face classes have successfully commenced
on Dec. 6, 2021.

As of Dec. 15, DepEd said 265 public schools were participating in the pilot
implementation of limited face-to-face classes.

On Dec. 17, DepEd completed its pilot face-to-face classes in select schools. This
January, DepEd planned to implement the expansion phase of limited face-to-face
classes in more schools nationwide.
METHODOLOGY

Research Design

This study utilized the descriptive research design to

enable the researchers to explore and analyze more
about their topic. The researchers used the Descriptive
Normative Survey to acquire requisite information on
the topic.
METHODOLOGY

Data Collection

The researchers constructed a survey for the

respondents to answer and asked their permission
about filling up the given questionnaires. The survey
was conducted in the month of June, 2022. After
conducting the survey, the researchers gathered and
compiled the produced data.
METHODOLOGY

The Respondents

The researchers' primary respondents are students who

are participating in the limited face to face classes in
NNHS. We chose to interact with a total of 15
respondents, 9 female and 6 male students from Senior
High School.
