question with talk partners before collecting responses

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Students activates prior knowledge in this lesson using ABCD cards
for multiple choice questions that have 4 choices. Each student has
four cards, each with one letter (ABCD) which corresponds to the
four choices. The students use one of the cards to show their
response to a series of questions that check students’
understanding of the meaning of family related vocabulary from
previous lessons.
LESSON DELIVERY Activity D(page 10)
1. Students asked to read the information in th Exam Close-
up box. Students was told to look at the Exam Task
quickly.
2. Students asked to read the instructions and make sure
they understand what they have to do. Students asked
how they should mark their answers.
3. Students has time to study the six sets of pictures and
answer any questions they may have about them. Students
asked to make notes about the differences, similarities or
connections between the picture.

asked to write the answer down before playing it again to

the correct answer before playing the rest of the
recording.

any queries they may have about them. Students asked to
work in pairs and to take in turns to answer the questions

show true). The lesson started verbally or with a series of

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Students explained what is meant by ‘abbreviation’ and provided
one or two examples that written on the board. Students asked to
identify abbreviations that they already know. Students allows to
discuss their ideas with their talk partner before collecting ideas as
a class. The student’s ideas wrote on the board and the compare
them with the abbreviations in ‘Learning Focus’.
