FIRST READING: (Acts 12:1-11) Butel, Xyza

(Graduate)

A reading from the Acts of the Apostles

5
In those days, King Herod laid hands upon some members of the Church to
harm them.
He had James, the brother of John, killed by the sword,
and when he saw that this was pleasing to the Jews
he proceeded to arrest Peter also.
-It was the feast of Unleavened Bread.-
He had him taken into custody and put in prison
under the guard of four squads of four soldiers each.
He intended to bring him before the people after Passover.
Peter thus was being kept in prison,
but prayer by the Church was fervently being made
to God on his behalf.

On the very night before Herod was to bring him to trial,

Peter, secured by double chains,
was sleeping between two soldiers,
while outside the door guards kept watch on the prison.
Suddenly the angel of the Lord stood by him,
and a light shone in the cell.
He tapped Peter on the side and awakened him, saying,
"Get up quickly."
The chains fell from his wrists.
The angel said to him, "Put on your belt and your sandals."
He did so.
Then he said to him, "Put on your cloak and follow me."
So he followed him out,
not realizing that what was happening through the angel was real;
he thought he was seeing a vision.
They passed the first guard, then the second,
and came to the iron gate leading out to the city,
which opened for them by itself.
They emerged and made their way down an alley,
and suddenly the angel left him.

The word of the Lord.

PEOPLE: Thanks be to God.

6
RESPONSORIAL PSALM Raquel, Lyza Claire Antonette
(Graduate)

Let our response be… "The angel of the Lord will rescue those who fear him."

I will bless the LORD at all times;

his praise shall be ever in my mouth.
Let my soul glory in the LORD;
the lowly will hear me and be glad.

℟ . The angel of the Lord will rescue those who fear him.

Glorify the LORD with me,

let us together extol his name.
I sought the LORD and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.

℟ . The angel of the Lord will rescue those who fear him.

Look to him that you may be radiant with joy,

and your faces may not blush with shame.
When the poor one called out, the LORD heard,
and from all his distress he saved him.

℟ . The angel of the Lord will rescue those who fear him.

The angel of the LORD encamps

around those who fear him, and delivers them.
Taste and see how good the LORD is;
blessed the man who takes refuge in him.

℟ . The angel of the Lord will rescue those who fear him.

A reading from the second Letter of Saint Paul to Timothy

7
I, Paul, am already being poured out like a libation,
and the time of my departure is at hand.
I have competed well; I have "finished the race;
I have kept the faith.
From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me,
which the Lord, the just judge,
will award to me on that day, and not only to me,
but to all who have longed for his appearance.

The Lord stood by me and gave me strength,

so that through me the proclamation might be completed
and all the Gentiles might hear it.
And I was rescued from the lion’s mouth.
The Lord will rescue me from every evil threat
and will bring me safe to his heavenly Kingdom.
To him be glory forever and ever. Amen.

The word of the Lord.

GOSPEL: Mt 16:13-19

✠ A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew

When Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi

he asked his disciples,
“Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah,
still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Simon Peter said in reply,
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah.
For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.
And so I say to you, you are Peter,
and upon this rock I will build my church,
and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven.
Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven;
and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

PRIEST: The Gospel of the Lord.

PEOPLE: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

OFFERTORY SONG

Song: Take and Receive

Take and receive, O Lord, my liberty

Take all my will, my mind, my memory
All things I hold and all I own are Thine
Thine was the gift, to Thee I all resign

Do Thou direct and govern all and sway

Do what Thou wilt, command, and I obey
Only Thy grace, Thy love on me bestow
These make me rich, all else will I forego.

11
Song: "I Offer My Life"

All that I am, all that I have

I lay them down before You, oh Lord
All my regrets, all my acclaims
The joy and the pain, I'm making them Yours

Lord, I offer my life to You

Everything I've been through, use it for Your glory
Lord I offer my days to You
Lifting my praise to You as a pleasing sacrifice
Lord I offer You my life

Things in the past, things yet unseen

Wishes and dreams that are yet to come true
All of my hopes, all of my plans
My heart and my hands are lifted to You

Lord, I offer my life to You

Everything I've been through, use it for Your glory
Lord I offer my days to You
Lifting my praise to You as a pleasing sacrifice
Lord I offer You my life

What can we give that You have not given?

And what do we have that is not already Yours?
All we possess are these lives we're living
That's what we give to You, Lord

Lord, I offer my life to You

Everything I've been through, use it for Your glory
Lord I offer my days to You
Lifting my praise to You as a pleasing sacrifice
Lord I offer You my life

Lord, I offer my life to You

Everything I've been through, use it for Your glory
Lord I offer my days to You
Lifting my praise to You as a pleasing sacrifice

THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYER

PREFACE

PRIEST: The Lord be with you.

PEOPLE: And with your spirit.

PRIEST: Lift up your hearts.

PEOPLE: We lift them up to the Lord.

PRIEST: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

PEOPLE: It is right and just.

PRIEST: It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation
always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father,
almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord.

For the Virgin Mary heard with faith that the Christ was to be born among men
and for men's sake by the overshadowing power of the Holy Spirit.

Lovingly she bore him in her immaculate womb,

that the promises to the children of Israel might comer about
and the hope of nations can be accomplished beyond all telling.
Through him the host of angels adores your majesty
and rejoices in your presence for ever.
May our voices, we pray, join with theirs
In one chorus of exultant praise, as we acclaim:

Song: HOLY HOLY

Holy Lord is your name, from the heavens on high

14
Blessed be the Lord’s name
Sing His glory forever
Holy, Holy’s the Lord
For He dwells in our Land.
(repeat)

COMMENTATOR: Please remain standing.

PRIEST: You are indeed Holy, O Lord , the fount of all holiness.
Make Holy, therefore these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit
Upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the Body
and ᐩ Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion,
He took bread and, giving thanks, broke it,
And gave it to his disciples, saying:
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT, FOR THIS MY BODY, WHICH WILL
BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.

In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and, once more
giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying:
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT: FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF
MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT WHICH WILL BE
POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY
FOR FORGIVENESS OF SINS.
DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.

PRIEST: The mystery of faith.

Song: MEMORIAL ACCLAMATION (Dying)

PRIEST: Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and Resurrection, we

offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks
that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.

Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we may
be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring her
to the fullness of charity, together with Francis our Pope, Renato our bishop
and all the clergy.

15
Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the
hope of the resurrection, and all who died in your mercy: welcome them into
the light of your face.

Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother
of God, With Blessed Joseph, her Spouse, with the Blessed Apostles, and all the
Saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be coheirs
to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Through him, and with him, and in him, O God Almighty Father, in unity of
the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, forever and ever.

Song: THREE-FOLD AMEN.

Song: WE WILL SERVE HIM

Here in the presence the Lord,
Here in His Holy place,
Giving Him thanks for all He's done,
Quietly seeking His face.

So many time we've seen His hand,

Guiding each step of the way.
God put us here to take a stand
To serve Him everyday.

Chorus:
We will serve Him
For the rest of our days
We will serve Him
With the highest of praise
We'll be His witness, no matter the cost
We'll be His beacon, His light to the lost
We will serve the Lord our God,
For the rest of our days.

18
He is the light at break of dawn
He is One true way
He is our strength when hope is gone
Shepherds us when we stray

God gave to us His only Son

A selfless sacrifice
How can we pay for all He's done
When Jesus paid the price.

We will serve Him

For the rest of our days
We will serve Him
With the highest of praise
We'll be His witness, no matter the cost
We'll be His beacon, His light to the lost
We will serve the Lord our God,
We will serve the Lord our God,
We will serve Him
For the rest of our days

We will serve Him

With the highest of praise
We'll be His witness, no matter the cost
We'll be His beacon, His light to the lost
We will serve the Lord our God,
For the rest of our days
The rest of our days

Song: LEAD ME LORD

Lead me Lord
Lead me by the hand
And let me face the rising sun
Comfort through all the pain
That life may bring
There's no other hope
That I can lean upon
Lead me Lord,

19
Lead me all my live

Walk by me Walk by me
Across the lonely roads that I may face
Take my arms and let your hand
Show me the way
Show the way to live inside your heart
All my days,
All my life

You are my light

You're the lamp upon my feet
All the Time, my lord I need you there
You are my light
I can not live alone
Let me stay, by your guiding love
All through my live
Lead me Lord
Lead me Lord,
Eventhough at times
I'd rather go along my way
Help me take the right direction
Take your road
Lead me lord
And never leave my side
All my days, all my life

You are my light

You're the lamp upon my feet
All the Time, my lord I need you there
You are my light
I can not live alone
Let me stay, by your guiding love
All through my life
You are my light
You're the lamp upon my feet
All the Time, my lord I need you there
You are my light
I just cannot live alone
Let me stay, by your guiding love

20
All through my life, all through my days
So lead me oh Lord..
Lead me..
