Challenges during Practicum: A Narrative Inquiry of ESL English Teachers

Statement of the Problem

The purpose of this study is to determine the challenges that student teachers face while
performing their practicum, how the practicum changes their perspective on teaching students
English as a second language, the contributions and challenges of the practicum on the student
teachers' lives, and how they cope with the challenges that they face during their practicum.
This study will also look at the ramifications and conclusions of student-teacher throughout their
practicum experience.

Specifically, it will answer the following questions:

1. What is the demographic profile of the selected secondary teacher in the City of Santa Rosa,
who experienced practicum?

1.1 Age

1.2 Grade level that they handled

2. What are the challenges of student teachers during their practicum and how do they cope
with the challenges?

3. What are the best techniques that they recommend to future student teachers to cope with
the challenges?
