Pilot with Air India

IGRUA is the best, they are g overnment aided and have the best infr
astructure, instructors, aircrafts and other facilities. They also have a
tie-up with CAE, hence the quality of training and exposure is much b
etter. Chimes is also doing g ood when it comes to private institution
s. They operate from an uncontrolled airfield and usually have to g o
to Bhopal or some other controlled airfield to practise instrument fly
ing procedures. The instructors are althoug h g ood and same is the
condition of their airplanes. Both the institutions have g ood in-house
accommodation facilities available and the infrastructure is also com
parable. My personal choice will be IGRUA.

I've complet ed my 10t h and now am joining PCMCS course.

Af t er t he course, can I join CPL? If I can, what is t he t ime span
and f ees?

Guide-Level 13
Pilot with Air India

For becoming a commercial pilot, there is a specific elig ibility criteria,

which you should first be aware of. This is decided on what subjects
have you taken in class 12th. It requires PCM to be a pilot. And, even
if you have not opted for the same, then you can appear separately
for these subjects and become elig ible. Further, you should be aware
that you are medically fit to be a pilot, so I would sug g est you to visi

d examiners tab to find out doctors who will examine you for initial fi
tness. You can visit any doctorate from the list as per your convenie
nce. Once you are done with Class 2nd medical, find out a suitable fl
ying club for you as per your convenience. You can fly in India or abr
oad. I would sug g est you fly in India. Besides finding the club, be aw
are that you will have to appear for:
1. Air Navig ation
2. Aviation Meteorolog y
3. Air Reg ulations
4. Aviation Tech.
5. Aircraft Specific
6. Radio Telephony
Here, 1-5 are conducted by DGCA and 6 is conducted by WPC. Prepa
re for these subjects and appear, as exams are conducted every qu
arterly. For preparation, flying club will help you or there are private i
nstructors available in metro cities as well. You will fly for 200Hrs + Cl
ear DGCA and WPC exams + Clear Class 1st medical, then you shall

g et your CPL. The next license is ATPL, which you shall be able to ap
ply for once. You will then have to probably fund or self-sponsor you
r type rating on whatever fleet you are selected in an airline. Then, y
ou finally g et a job as a pilot. I hope the process is well explained to
you. CPL is an expensive affair. It mig ht cost you around Rs.18-20 La
cs for flying + DGCA exams Rs.500/- each exam + Medicals for Rs.10
, 000 + endorsements and license issue fees around Rs.25k + Type
Rating around Rs.15 Lacs. So, decide wisely before you enter the fiel
d.
