Statement of the Problem

The study aimed to know the Stress and Coping Mechanisms of Psychology Students Specifically, this study sought to answer the
following questions:

1. What is the demographic profile of the students in terms of:

1.1 age
1.2 sex
2. How often the students experiencing stress in the last month ago?
2.1 highest domain of experiencing stress
2.2 responses be compared when grouped according to profile
3. What are the ways to reduce the stress of students?
3.1 most effective solution in reducing stress

RESULTS

1. Profile of the Respondents

The respondents’ profile variables are presented such as the age, and sex of Psychology students in Batangas State University.

1.1 Age

Table 1 presents the frequency and percentage distribution of the respondents when grouped in terms of age.

Table 1
Distribution of Respondents in Terms of Age
AGE FREQUENCY PERCENTAGE
18-19 15 50%
20-21 8 26.7%
22-23 6 20%
24 years old and above 1 3.3%
TOTAL 30 100%

The table showed the age distribution of the participants. It demonstrates that most of the age of the respondents were ranging
from 18-19 years’ old which is equivalent to 50% followed by 20-21 years’ old which is equivalent to 26.7%. Then 20-23-year-old
respondents are equivalent to 20%. However, the percentage for the age of 24 years old and above were 3.3% or 1 respondent.

The data implied that the majority of respondents were 18-29 years old.

1.2 Sex

Table 2 presents the frequency and percentage distribution of the respondents when grouped in terms of sex.

Table 2
Distribution of Respondents in Terms of Sex
SEX FREQUENCY PERCENTAGE
MALE 10 33.3%
FEMALE 20 66.7%
TOTAL 30 100%

The table showed the age distribution of the participants. It demonstrates that most of the respondents were female with a total
number of 20 which is equivalent to 33.3%. However, male respondents were only 10 or 66.7%.

Based on the results, the responses had a composite mean of 1.903 which was interpreted as Fairly Often. Results by
considering the weighted mean of respondents in terms of variables could help to measure the stress level of students last month ago.
However, this data indicates that most of the Psychology Students are stressful due of different factors.
According to the respondents, the highest domain of considering the stress of students is that been angered because of
things that happened that were out of your control with a total weighted mean of 2.233 wherein they fairly often experienced this

Those Batangas State University psychology students who, despite their busy schedules, made the time to fill out the questionnaire and participate in
the survey, and who entrusted the data for this study;

Their parents and family for their unwavering love, support, encouragement, and wise words, which allowed them the confidence to accomplish this
research successfully;

Their classmates and friends, who patiently answered all of their questions concerning the thesis and never failed to support them;

Finally, sincere gratitude to themselves for believing in themselves, putting in the effort, and never giving up despite the challenges they had while
conducting their research;
