Situation: (c) FROM ETHICS OF GOVERNMENT, THE USE OF AN OFFICIAL CAR TO BRING ONE’S DAUGHTER
TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY

1. GATHER THE FACTS


• Government official car is prohibited in using for personal matter. It is used only
during official trips and etc.
• One’s daughter has no transportation or service for attending school everyday.
2. DETERMINE/ DEFINE THE ETHICAL ISSUES
• The conflict is the using of government official car for personal use.
• Once daughter will be late in attending school.
3. THE PRINCIPLES THAT HAVE A BEARING IN THE CASE
• Government car is prohibited for personal use.
• A father or a mother have a responsibility to let their daughter send to the school.
4. LIST THE ALTERNATIVES COURSES OF ACTION
• Ask the government official first that you will be sending your daughter on the school
before using the car. Have a permission first.
• Use the government official car instead because no one will know about it.
• Let your daughter commute.
5. COMPARE THE ALTERNATIVES WITH PRINCIPLES
• Responsibility always comes first, always consider the things that makes everything right.
Choosing between right or wrong must be a big deal to everyone to know your own worth
of decision making.

6. ASSESS THE CONSEQUENCES


Using government official car to send your daughter at school has these likely consequences:
• The daughter will be sent or attend to school on time.
• The driver of the said government official car will be fired.
• There is a possible case to be sentence or accused in using government official cars
for personal use.
7. MAKE A DECISION
• As a driver of the said government official car, I will do my responsibilities for my
daughter but before that, I will ask or get the permission in using the government
official car for sending my daughter in school. If I was not permitted to use it
therefore, I will try to find another car or let my daughter commute so that she will
still attend her class.
