Week 2, Term 3
04 August 2022
Welcome back to Term 3! Once again unfortunately we find ourselves back to wearing masks as
we do our bit to try and curb the spread of not only COVID but the other nasty bugs that are
going around at the present time. This will hopefully be short lived! The recommendation was for
the first four weeks of the term, and this is what we will do.
This term we are looking forward to connecting with our school community again now that things
are finally a little easier for us to do so.
Please keep the date free to attend our whole school Cultural Mass on the 11th of September.
This will not only be a great opportunity for us all to catch up with each other once again but a
wonderful celebration of our unique and diverse cultures here at St Joseph’s School.
There will also be wonderful opportunities at our annual Hui, Talanoa and Pagpupulong for staff
and parents to connect with each other over kai and conversation. Please look out for these
dates which will be advertised on both Facebook and on Hero.
These meetings will be advertised soon.
At this coming election two of our current Board members are standing down due to their
children moving onto secondary school. This allows a wonderful opportunity for others as we
seek to elect two new parent representatives.
If you are interested and would like to know more about being a Board member, I can connect
you to one of our current Board members. They will give you a greater insight into the role.
Nominations close on
Wednesday 17th August at 12 noon. Election Day is Wednesday 21th September.
Please consider nominating either yourself or someone else. Nomination forms are on Hero or
can be requested from the school office.
Kind regards
Cath Blacklow
Principal

Closing Prayer
Dear Lord, you taught us that greatness isn’t about being popular or athletic or about winning prizes or
awards.
You taught us that greatness is about serving others.
Greatness is about deeds, not things.
Help us do good deeds so that one day we’ll be counted as one of your heroes.
Amen
