Hello and Welcome to the first-ever GBM of your batch. IIM Bangalore has a rich history of
48 years, and your batch marks the 49th batch of PGP and 3rd batch of PGPBA at this
prestigious institution. All of you are now virtually at the doors of the stonewalls. With
Months and years of struggle to clear CAT and the interviews, you have arrived at what we
all fondly call the place to B. We, the Students’ Affairs Council on behalf of the entire cohort
of IIMB Family, officially welcome you all to the place to B.

Do Remember, the journey you until now – CAT, PI and WAT was just a small hill, and now
you have a mountain to climb and 2 years to conquer its peak. Over the next two years, you
will be going through a rigorous academic workload along with numerous non-academic
activities. Most of you already must be aware that MBA is no joke and is one of the most
rigorous educational programs. Life at IIMB will be no different. You will all have your hands
President full with the daily pre reads, post reads, quizzes, exams, club activities, events etc. Things, at
times, might feel hectic and unbearable as you struggle to push through. That is when you
will need friends around you to get you back in the game. We hope you have already found
such friends in the onboarding activities. If not, it’s time to get started on building such
bonds. After all, Networking is just not another word here at IIMB.

Further, your batch is lucky to be joining us at the tail end of the pandemic. But that doesnt
mean you will slack off and flout the precautionary measures laid down by the admin. We
urge you all to be cautious for your own benefit.

Also, feel free to reach out to any of us at the SAC body with any issues that you might need
help with. To quote the great dumbledore, “Help is always given to those who ask for it.”

Over the last month and a half, we have had multiple initiatives to get to know you all better.
This started with creating official WhatsApp groups as soon as the results were out, and since
then, we have got to know more about you all through your introductions on Google groups
and Facebook.

It was extremely heartening to see many of you showcasing your talent on the talent thread,
bonding with each other during meme war and spam threads. Many of you also showed a
glimpse of the future leaders that you all would be with the B plan and other tasks. Even the
city-meets provided us with a great platform to know more about you all. We hope all these
efforts put in by us have helped you bond within the batch and make some friends for life.
We appreciate all the PGP1s who participated in these tasks, especially with some of you
having to take time out of your busy schedules at work. We also want to thank the PGP2s
who made it happen even when their internships were underway.
Having said that, Let me take you through general rules that must be followed in your journey
of two years.

General rules
1. Punctuality is a must at IIM B. Everyone has a busy schedule. Respect their time.
2. Use of phones in classe s and GBMs is strictly prohibited.
3. All information must remain CONFIDENTIAL.
4. Email etiquette must be followed.
5. Proper use of the Institute Logo.
6. Any violations of these rules will be taken up with utmost seriousness by SAC.

Committees are an integral and inseparable part of IIMB. They are run by the student
representatives who work relentlessly to ensure the smooth conduct of various functions. It
goes without saying that their contribution must be respected, and each committee’s rules
are required to be abided by the members of the IIMB cohort. Moving ahead, the Committee
Secretaries shall introduce their respective committees and their important guidelines.
LISTEN and absorb them carefully since these will not be repeated. Do not unmute yourself
unless we ask you; Your queries will be taken up during the designated time.

Now, I would like to call upon YYY, Secretary of Internal Affairs to brief the students

Carrying forward from where the President left off at IIM B “Help is given to those who ask
for it”
You will soon come to realise that we don’t just say this at IIM B, but we live by this code.
And it is all the more true for the Internal Affairs Committee. My job as the Secretary of
Secretary of Internal Affairs is to act as an ombudsman for the students for any and all complaints and
Internal Affairs grievances they might have against the SAC or any other clubs & committees.

Our Committee is responsible for maintaining the checks & balances against the abuse of
power. The following scenarios should illustrate when you can reach out to the Internal
Affairs Committee:
• If you are being singled out by any of the members from SAC, clubs or committees or
being mistreated by them
 • If you feel you are being unfairly treated or have been discriminated against by any
of the students
• If you have an issue with the processes and policies and how they apply to you.

In the above scenarios you are urged to reach to me personally. In addition to these any other
student complaints and grievances are also to be directed towards the Internal Affairs
Commitee. We will ensure that your right to due process in given to you.

However beware that every right comes with a responsibility, and it is your responsibility to
use your discretion while coming forth with your complaints. Frivolous or fake complaints will
be treated accordingly.

Now I would like to call upon all the club and committee secretaries to take the session

Thank you very much,YYY . The academic committee looks after the overall curriculum
including courses, electives, projects, as well as subject representatives. We work, as the
bridge between students, professors and the PGP office to ensure smooth and
comprehensive learning for all the students in the Institute. IIM Bangalore provides an
opportunity to learn from a diverse set of courses by the professors who have industry
expertise in their fields. Along with these core responsibilities, the academic committee has
certain said and unsaid regulations as you can see on the screen which every student needs
to follow diligently.
• The login window for class starts 15 minutes before the lecture. Since the system is
completely automated, even 1 second delay in joining the class will result in loss of
attendance. I would also like to reiterate that a student needs a minimum of 80%
attendance to avoid a grade drop.
• As mentioned in the GBM, your online conduct must be proper as per the PGP office
instructions. This means, the mics should be muted unless asked to speak, videos should

Committee care of the font style and size of the background as sent by PGP office and strictly adhere
to that.
• It is of utmost importance that you are respectful to your classmates. No interruptions,
personal remarks, or attempts to dominate the discussion will be tolerated. The
professors take such kind of behaviour very seriously and if any of this is brought to the
Academic committee’s notice, it will be dealt with severely.
• We at IIMB take pride in our professors and give them the highest respect. Thus, we
must be professional in our communication with them both during and after the
lectures. Take special note of the rules mentioned here regarding the email etiquettes.
• Finally, the deadlines are sacrosanct at IIMB. No exceptions would be entertained in this
regard. Besides, we promote teamwork and originality hence any such practice like free
riding or plagiarism are completely out of the window. The Institute has designated
mechanisms to track any kind of malpractices, hence, I strongly urge you to not indulge
in cheating or copying during examinations. The consequences of such an act can range
from a grade drop to expulsion from the college.

Cultural The cultural committee of IIMB organizes round the year cultural and fun events in the
Committee campus: including fests and regional dinners. Last year, even in an online scenario, the
 committee successfully organized all the events and ensured that everyone enjoys their time.
The IIMB community is known for its rich talent across all forms of art and has been enriched
by the talent of each incoming batch. We take pride in our diverse community and celebrate
all the fests with equal enthusiasm and participation.
• Hence the first rule of celebrating cultural events at IIMB is to treat everyone with
utmost respect and consideration. No and I repeat no discrimination or mockery will
be tolerated in any case
• The student community is required to be equally aware of respecting other members’
comfort while taking part in the events. Any kind of misbehavior will be dealt severely
by the authorities.
• The cultural events are aimed at promoting interaction and bonding among the
student community and are completely voluntary. Thus, the students are not allowed
to exert any pressure on their peers to take part in events against their wish.
• Lastly, as you know the annual fests at IIMB invite participation from multiple colleges
and it is the responsibility of the each and every student of IIMB to be polite and
courteous with them. The action taken against poor conduct will be completely non-
negotiable because it directly affects the Institute’s name and image.

Coming to a B-school, one gets the opportunity to share ideas with multiple corporations and
explore diverse sectors. The Business Committee of IIMB provides the access to these
opportunities to all the students. We organize annual case competitions, entrepreneurship
summits, professional workshops and business seminars in collaboration with diverse
organizations. We also participate in major national and international business events. IIMB
has been among the top performers in all the competitions across the years, and we expect
the same from your batch to continue the legacy.
Since, all our interactions affect our long standing relations with all the big corporations, the
Business Committee necessitate everyone to follow specific regulations, as you can see here:
• There is a strict protocol to approach the organizations for any request. Every
communication to the companies must be directed through the Business Committee.
The committee will vet through the requests and accordingly communicate them to the
Business respective authorities.

• In all the communications with companies and their officials, asking details about their
jobs, salaries or soliciting employement opportunities is a strict no. These details are
strictly confidential and the companies report any such case directly to the Business
committee.
• Now that all of you are a part of the IIMB community, you will have access to multiple
privileges for your overall development. However, along with privileges, you also need
to focus on the responsibility on your shoulders to uphold the status of IIMB tag, and
never, ever use it to gain unwarranted advantage. Any misdemeanour which may reflect
poorly on the Institute will not be tolerated.
• The Institute strongly encourages the students to collaborate on business ideas among
themselves, with professors and organizations. However, it necessitates everyone to
maintain a conduct of originality and honesty in all activities.

Heartiest Congratulations to every PGP1 for making it to the Place to B and we are thrilled to
(Saaransh) share this important moment with you. IIM Bangalore has an extremely rich sports
Sports infrastructure which houses all the major indoor and outdoor activities. The Institute places
Committee very high importance on the overall personality development of the students and provides
them the opportunity to explore and enrich their interests. The Sports Committee will be
responsible for organizing all the Intra- and Inter-campus sport events. We ensure the
 availability of the sports facilities to the students and coordinate with the administration for
smooth access to all the relevant gears and equipment. However, that being said, there are
some key rules that must be followed for accessing the sports facilities in the campus and
they are mentioned on the slide.
• While we as a Committee will work day and night to ensure that the students have
access to the highest quality facilities and equipment, it is the sole responsibility of
the students to handle them with care and apply proper technique while operating
them. Damage to the equipment due to any kind of negligence will not be tolerated.
• It goes without saying that the players are expected to wear proper sports attire while
on the court. For instance, wearing non-marking shoes is a must in the indoor courts,
without which the entry will not be provided.
• As you all might have been repeatedly told that you now belong to this esteemed
community; hence your conduct must be proper in the sports premises as well. Any
kind of abuse be it verbal or physical, while playing will not be tolerated. People found
guilty of doing the same will not only be disqualified from the game but we will make
sure that they are also be dealt with severely by the administration.
• IIMB Sports complex has a designated schedule planner to book the various sports
facilities during the day. The students are expected to use it diligently and adhere by
it. Make sure that there is no equipment or court hogging beyond your booked slot.
• Finally, all of us belonging to IIMB student community strongly believes in fair play
and expects from the incoming batch that they’ll adopt these practices right away.
You will be given all the sorts of opportunities and access to facilities of highest
quality but you will also have to face strict repercussions in case of violation for any
regulation.

The Hostel Committee works as a liaison between the Hostel admin and students. We work
extensively towards voicing the concerns and opinions of the students. We’re Broadly
responsible for management of hostel infrastructure, mess, night canteen, room allocation,
conflicts resolutions, and monitoring external facilities.
In short, we strive to ensure a great stay for students during their campus life

• IIM Bangalore is one of the most beautiful campuses with best facilities like wifi,
swimming pool, in-house gym etc. Having got the opportunity to live at such a place, you
must be extremely mindful while using these facilities and any damage or negligence to

• During your stay here, you must very well bear in mind that the smooth functioning of
hostel and mess is due to the staff who work towards us relentlessly and hence being
humble to them and respecting them is an absolute necessity.
• While the quantity of food available in the mess is not limited to students in the campus,
this shouldn’t be leading to wastage of food. We hold a Zero food wastage policy, and it
is expected that all the students respect and abide by the same.
• Having the allotted hostel room all to yourself comes with responsibilities. One must
ensure that they are in no manner causing any sort of disturbances to their fellow hostel
mates, do not enter anyone’s room without knocking/permission, respect their privacy
and be considerate to any requests that they might have. We must ensure that we live
peacefully with our fellow mates.
 • Having an individual room doesn’t give you the right to invite any guests from outside
the campus. Any such request must go through the hostel committee. Approval and
permission shall be given on case-to-case basis.
• We live in a campus with co-habitation, and we need to respect each other’s privacy. No
male student is allowed to enter a designated female washroom at any cost whatever
may be the reason.
• Alcohol, Smoking & drug free campus
Dear PGP1s, firstly congratulations and welcome to IIM Bangalore. Being branded with the
IIMB tag gives you access to one of the strongest Alumni networks in the country. The
Alumni Committee aims to leverage the IIMB alumni community’s network and
expertise to benefit the students. Building and expanding your networks stands crucial
for both personal and professional life. To facilitate the same various reunions,
seminars, and mentorship programs are conducted throughout the year. The IIMB tag
must be used wisely, and specific guidelines need to be followed for accessing the
alumni network, such as
• Connecting or communicating with any alumni must be routed through the Alumni
Committee only. Email highlighting the requirement for contacting the alumni must
be stated clearly.
• Once after getting a go-ahead from the Alumni committee, one must be mindful of
Alumni their tone while interacting with the alums. They must maintain the necessary
Committee professional conduct striking any conversation and be mindful of their availability.
Before right-away calling them, always check their availability and only then call
them upon having their consent.
• The liberty to ask any question is not granted with the access of the alumni.
Requesting confidential information regarding their jobs like project, salary, etc.,
and soliciting employment in their organization is strictly prohibited.
• You are now associated with one of the premier institutes and are expected to have
clarity of thoughts and restrict your doubts and queries only to what is relevant
instead of beating around the bush. Keep the content smart and crisp.
• Again, reiterating the fact that the IIMB tag must be used wisely and taking undue
advantage of the same to secure sponsorships/ projects or any other aspect for that
matter will not be allowed and shall be dealt with strictly

The Media and Public Relations Committee is the interface between the Institute and the
world outside. The exchange of information and promotion of “Brand IIMB” is extremely
critical activity and is carried out with immense care by showcasing the achievements and
profiles of the students and various other aspects of life at B. Now that you are the torch
bearers of an institute with a proud legacy, it is your responsibility to do your best to uphold
its integrity.
• The institute logo is our identity, and therefore should be held sacred by all of us and
Media and not tampered with. The logo should always appear on a white background. Its
Public Relations orientation, color, aspect ratio and number of spokes should not be changed.

• As now you are a part of this community, you are expected to respect the effort that
goes into not just having but also preserving and maintaining the Brand and hence be
mindful of your conduct on public forums at all times.
• Any public appearances/Comments/Interviews to the media must be carried forward
only after prior intimation to the Media and Public Relations Committee.
• Ensure to take utmost care while posting anything relating to the Institute on your social
media. Be it any pictures, thoughts, opinions, article or forwarded content. Do not post
anything which is capable of tarnishing the brand name of IIMB.
 • Note that, no one is allowed to send mails to distribution lists or mailing lists. Only SRs
and CRs are allowed to do that, as and when they’re elected from your batch.
• LinkedIn being the most important space for the professional community, adding any
fake achievements to your profile shall be considered as extreme misconduct and dealt
with very strictly. Do no assume any of it shall remain unnoticed. Being a professional
from a prestigious institute, you are expected to have high standard of integrity.

Dear PGP1s, smooth and un-interrupted access to online resources is extremely important to
ensure a meaningful virtual learning experience, especially in this Covid times. IT committee
handles all the IT related activities on the campus and acts as a liaison between the IIMB IT
team and the student community. IT committee along with the help of all clubs has been
playing a pivotal role in ensuring a smooth online experience in this current virtual mode of
interactions. We want you to keep in mind some points with respect to IT whenever you are

Hello everyone, congratulations on making it to IIM Bangalore. IIM Bangalore is all about new
opportunities and pursuing paths that interested you but did not have prior experience. That
being said, I’ll introduce you to the Finance and Audit committee.
Handling finances is one of the most crucial aspects of one’s professional and personal life.
As most of you are aware, Finance roles are some of the most sought-after career choices
after an MBA. To facilitate and equip students with financial awareness, IIM Bangalore
consists of several student-led initiatives on the campus such as “Qwickpay,” which is the
student wallet used inside the campus, Student-run funds, Club funds etc. You, as a student
of IIMB would be given opportunities to be a part of such initiatives, even if you do not have
any prior experience in this domain. Please keep some points in mind whenever you are

handling any finance-related activity at IIMB.
Audit
- Every single financial transaction that is not personal in nature should be recorded,

and receipts must be kept for the same.
- Before the start of every term, the PGP Office will send out a reminder email
regarding your term fees. You can find all the details regarding your fee payment on
the Sarvam portal, whose credentials will be mailed to you shortly. As mentioned, the
deadlines at IIMB are sacrosanct, and no requests concerning the extension of the
deadline will be entertained under any circumstance.
- Finance and Audit Committee will conduct a bi-annual audit of all financial
transactions for all the clubs and committees
- Any illegal activities such as misuse of funds, if found, would be dealt with severely
and might result in expulsion from the Institute.
 - In the occasion that any conflict of interest arises regarding the allocation of student
funds, the decision of the Finance and Audit Committee will hold final.
- Most importantly, if any of you come across any misuse of college funds by your
fellow batchmates or any student body, you must report the matter immediately to
the Finance and Audit Committee. We at IIM Bangalore take pride in being
transparent in all our transactions and we expect you to adhere to the same.

Hey everyone, welcome to IIMB. Heartiest congratulations to all of you, you’re now a part of
an illustrious 49 year old legacy. You have toiled hard to be here, and you deserve every bit
of it. There are various facets of success – hard work, luck, and discipline. The welfare
committee focusses on the discipline part. It is crucial to acknowledge that while you are now
associated with the IIMB name, it is also your duty to uphold it. How you behave even when
no one is watching should reflect the beliefs and values of our esteemed institution.

There are a few rules that all of us have to abide by to uphold the IIMB name.
- Misbehaviour of any kind is taken very seriously, and we have a zero-tolerance
policy. There is an internal committee that reviews inappropriate behaviour and
flagrant violation of rules. The committee then decides upon the appropriate
punishment for the disobedience.

- Please hear this one carefully, as this has implications on both batches. As a lot of

you belong to corporate settings, we follow a similar policy for college
committee
relatioanships akin to workplace relationahsips. We at IIMB strive to avoid all sorts
of possible liabilities. While we understand that relationships are personal, a
declaration form must be filled disclosing the nature of the relationship. The
disclosure would be completely confidential and, indeed assured, would be shared
with no one. Further details will be emailed to you shortly, and all instances will be
handled with utmost sensitivity.

- At IIMB, we do not appreciate rumour-mongering of any kind. Any rumours

circulating in the WhatsApp groups or on the campus will be tracked down, and
strict action will be taken.

Understandably you’ve had to grasp a lot of information today, but this is something that’s a
crucial part of the MBA Life. Lets now move on to the actionable tasks at hand. Deepti will
introduce you to these.

Now I would be describing the various interest groups which are present in IIMB, listen
carefully & save your questions for the end.
Club interest We have 9 different interest groups with various committees performing under them.
(Cul Secy) We have Arts & culture, Finance, Business, Management, Consulting, Animal Welfare & Social
Services, Marketing, Media & Communication and Sports groups.
Now that you have an idea of the various committees and interest groups, it is time to
introduce you to your first official task as an IIMB student. You have been taking instructions
casually for a long time now and it is about time you stop it. Remember that what we are

Unlike the previous introductions you have been told to prepare, this one will have
considerable bearing in determining your club selections. You are expected to prepare a one
 minute video of yourself wherein you tell us you who you are and what is so unique about
yourself that would make a club or committee want to have you. The specific details regarding
submission are mentioned on the slide.

In addition to this, you have to fill a Google form which will be shared with you over mail. This
form seeks to capture some details of yours that may not have been captured in the video
resume. Further, you need to mention your top 3 preferences for interest groups after which,
Interest Form you need to fill the interest group specific forms, which would help us determine your fit with
(Cul Secy) the vertical.

Rishi will now be sharing details of your second task: Know your PGP2s.

This activity, Know your PGP2, is one that has been done batch after batch and has carved
out a special place in the hearts of every IIMB student. So please complete it with utmost
diligence. Here, each of you will be assigned a PGP2 but we will only help you with the
nickname. You have to get in touch with ALL of their friends mentioned across their names in
the document we provide and get to know about the person. Your job will be to prepare a
poster/presentation/video or any other creative format you can think of and email it to the

Thank You, Akash, for the initiative and efforts you have put to make their life easy. These clubs
and societies offered at IIMB open up vast opportunities for each individual to understand their
interest and hone their skills. We expect enthusiastic participation from every one of you.
Having said that, there is an important point we wanted to highlight today regarding the zeal
Vice displayed by the PGP1 batch during the onboarding process. We PGP2s are making immense
President efforts to smoothen your transition into the IIMB life. However, it has come to our attention that
few people are not rising to the occasion and seizing these opportunities despite our efforts. The
lack of participation in the tasks and different events is worrying. It displays apathy on your part
towards being a valued member of the IIMB cohort. There are approximately 124 of you who
haven’t taken part in any event so far. We have the list of such people, but we are not going to
call them out personally. You know who you are.
Having walked on the same path as you a year ago. We strongly believe that everyone should have
an equal opportunity and put effort towards networking and building meaningful relationships,
networking not just with your fellow batchmates but also with your seniors. It is a matter of
concern that many of you have missed out on this opportunity.
Dear PGP1s,
Club selection is a crucial part of an MBA curriculum. It is a necessary step that you need to
undergo to be a part of any club or society at IIMB. I believe you understand the seriousness of
this and will not give excuses this time around.
However, we are aware of the challenges you all face in the wake of the pandemic. If any serious
issue is hindering your participation in the process, write an email to us stating the exact reason.
The deadline for any justification from your side is 12 PM tomorrow. If you do not complete the
tasks by the deadline, you will not be able to be a part of any club or society in the future.
