CALM YET BROKEN: A LIFE IN A PANDEMIC

All bustles and hustles so sudden came to silence. Industrial noises, metal clinging, train railings, all in
hiatus. The sound people used to hear, the sound of a ticking world machinery, has finally stopped. With
a world ever busy as it is, sometimes, a break is all what’s needed. A break from work, from school,
from innovation, from researches and from world advancement that has caused much our entire
humanity and habitat.

Ironic as it may seem but undeniably, it took for the worst to come to finally serve this. An unseen
pandemic have swept busiest streets and cities, calm the world, and finally healing it from grave
damage. The famous Corona Virus may have crippled the humanity to death but amidst all this, it can’t
be denied the not-so adverse effects it has given to mankind.

With the quarantine still imposed people were forced to cage themselves within homes, leaving nature
to rest for a while and breathe from human pollution. After a while, nature shows its true colors, skies
has never been bluer as trees are even clearer than bright green. Even so, wildlife reclaim territories,
carbon footprint and emission have flattened its curves, and air quality consequently has improved.

Nature came healed as many have slow down their paces of living. Along with this, while people been
leashed indoors connection among family bonds are tighten than ever. Before Covid, time was a luxury
that to spend it with the family was the least among the choices. We live life so fast and frantic that this
chaotic time taught us to feel the calm of nothing to worry and spend all luxuries to one’s family.

By luxury, it goes by the meaning of care, love and reconciliation. Things that can’t be bought by a single
penny. Only by time. This pandemic has given us not only dreaded fears but as well, somehow, some
lavish time to be with our families as this is a thing that our previous life could not afford to bargain
with.

By the thought of a pandemic, it could never get any better. But unexpectedly, it might have done lots of
healings way more than of killings. Who could have thought that the worst came to amend broken
pieces and make nature whole again? Who could have thought that sweetest moments are shared in
these darkest hours? No one could have. But all did just seem to happen.

Now, the cases have only worsen and it won’t be too soon that this will end. Perhaps, life now was
meant to be cautious and distant. And only just now, we were able to value our old lives. The times
when we were still free yet abusive. Liberated but has chosen to be neglectful. Only just now we can
appreciate relationships, friendships, careers, scholastic stuffs and any other simple things we’ve never
seen so treasured before.

Now the break of the noises has turned to be broken lives now. Not literally but lifestyles that has been
broken and never be again restored.
