WEEK 3 SOUND
Sound occurs when something vibrates.
Vibrating objects make sound. This sound passes to our
ears and this is how we hear.

MELODY The more energy in the vibration, the louder the sound. The
shorter the vibrating object the higher the pitch of the note
WEEK 3 PITCH IS THE HIGHNESS AND LOWNESS OF SOUND

High pitch sounds are

made by instruments
such as flute, recorder
and violin

HIGH

MELODY
Low pitch sounds are made
by instruments such as

LOW
tubas, cello, double bass
and bassoons
WEEK 3 THE MUSIC STAFF
On our previous topic we learned about the notes and
rests. If we would only look at this note
it will only give you the duration of the sound, BUT
if we place the note on the MUSIC STAFF we can now
determine the Pitch of that note

The higher the note on

the staff the higher the
pitch.

MELODY
The lower the note on
the staff
The Lower the Pitch
WEEK 3 MELODY
When you place and combine a series of notes and pitches on the
staff we create a MELODY or the TUNE

MEASURE is the space between 2 barlines

MELODY
The Vertical line is what we call the barline, it divides
the staff depending on what is the time signature
WEEK 3 THE TREBLE CLEF
The highness and lowness of sound is determined by the arrangement of the
notes on the staff. The notes are placed on the lines and spaces of the staff.

This is the TREBLE CLEF, we place this

sign in the begginning of the staff to
identify the pitch from the MIDDLE DO
