e. Time Frame: 60 minutes

III. Learning Experiences

A. Preparatory Activities
1. Drill/Review
Flash different shapes

Group Game
(Each group will name as many objects as they can with the given shape.)
Group 1 – circle Group 3 – square
Group 2 – rectangle Group 4 – triangle

The group with the most number of correct names wins.

2. Motivation

Show this picture to draw their attention to the value of sharing.

What do you see in the picture?

Valuing:

Who among you is like the boy who shares her “baon” to others? Who
among you gives paper to your classmate?
What do you feel when sharing what you have to others?
Note that the boy is giving half of her sandwich to the girl.

B. Developmental Activities

1. Presentation
A. Posing a Problem.

Ini hira Karlo ngan Lisa. Magsangkay hira nga duha. Nawarayan
trabahu an ira mga kag-anak tungod han pandemya nga Covid-19. Usa ka
adlaw, may ada nanhatag karan-on ha ira lugar. Nakakarawat hira nga duha
hin tig-urusa nga dagku nga karan-on. Duwa nga magburugto hira Karlo ngan
upat naman hira Lisa

B. Answering comprehension questions

1. Hinu an duwa nga magsangkay?

2. Kay anu nawarayan trabahu an ira mga kag-anak?
3. Ano an nakarawat nira Carlo ngan Lisa?
4. Pira nga magburugto hira Carlo? ngan Lisa?
5. Nahuman ba an istorya?
6. Ano an problema nira Karlo ngan Lisa?

C. Discussion

Show a picture of bread and then ask: How will you divide this bread if you want to
have two equal parts? Fold it into 2 equal parts as the children observe. How many equal
parts are there? Touch each part as the children count.

Explain that each part is 1 of 2 equal parts or one half of the square. Then write and say
this is a “fraction”. Write it on the board and have the children read it.
Point to each of the fractions as you explain, „The symbol, “- “tells us that the
whole shape was divided into equal parts. The “2” below the line tells us that there are 2
equal parts. The “1” above the line tells us that we are talking about 1 of the 2 equal parts.

2. Activities
a. Activity A
Identify the shape that is divided into equal parts.

b. Activity B
Identify the figure whose shaded parts show ½ and ¼.

c. Activity C.
Click the missing part of the figure whose shaded parts show ½ and ¼.

d. Individual Activity
Draw different shapes of objects. Divide them into 2 and 4 equal parts, shade one part,
then write ½ and ¼ on the other part.

e. Group Activity
Group 1:
Color half of the following shapes and write ½ and ¼ on the other part.

Group 2:
Find the missing part of the object. Identify if it is ½ or ¼.

3. Generalization
What do you call one part of a whole if the whole is divided into 2 equal parts? In to 4 equal
parts?

If a whole is divided into 2 equal parts, one part is

called one-half ½.
If a whole is divided into 4equal parts, one part is
called one-half ¼.

C. Application

Give the pupils papers to cut. Let them cut different shapes, fold them into 2 and 4 equal parts
and paste one part. Let them describe their work.

IV. Evaluation

Write ½ if the figure whose shaded parts show ½ and write ¼ if the figure whose shaded parts shows
¼.
V. Assignment
A. Draw the following figures. Divide them into 2 equal parts. Shade ½ of each.
1. circle
2. triangle
3. rectangle

B. Draw the following figures. Divide them into 4 equal parts. Shade ¼ of
each.
