Hussain M Elius
Hussain M Elius is founder and CEO of Pathao. He is a man
who is good entrepreneur in Bangladesh. He has creative
thinking ability, taking challenge ability, and motivating
power. He created a business that is actually first open with
ride sharing. Although many other companies have existed in
Bangladesh for such type of business, his business idea was
unique because he started it with bike ride sharing which was
not with the Bangladeshi culture. But he has made it possible
with his business idea and ability, hard working. He has
thought about transportation system of Dhaka in Bangladesh.
People have to face lots of problem for traffic and there is no
good vehicle in Dhaka for transporting. Then he started to
think how the problem can be solved. Then he thinks about
bike ride sharing system in Dhaka. He thinks about economic
condition of Bangladesh and how to serve them in efficient
way with bike ride sharing for starting his idea. At first, they
started with small group of people. They had only 5 bikes on
October 2015. But there had been a few ride-sharing
companies. So. what did they do differently? They rolled their
sleeves and got down on the ground. They stood in front of
universities in Banani area and did hardcore sales to put
people on their bikes. They would ask people where they
wanted to go and tell them that “I’ll take you there on this
bike for a 100 taka”. They would be very confused and
scared, naturally, since they are taking people in a bike and
it’s an alien concept to them. But they kept up and pushed
people to get on the bike and take the first few rides. The did
this for three days and gave them their card to call us and
book. On the fourth day, people would start calling them.
After the fifth day, people started talking to their friends about
them. And thus, they got initial traction and instead of
spending time on a lot of planning, they directly engaged in
the market. They pushed their customers from the ground
level. Since the addressed a need in the market, their service
quickly got product-market fit and expanded. They cultivated
a sense of community in their users from the very beginning
which has helped them to build a loyal user base who not only
used their services but also told about them to their friends.
Thus, they gradually grew their business and now it is a
popular transportation network system in Dhaka. People don’t
think their working day without Pathao for going many places
for many purposes. They have expanded their business in
Chittagong, Sylhet, and even in Nepal. But they also think
about business diversity for this they started many other
business such as parcel, merchant delivery, food delivery and
Pathao pay. Their food delivery is the number one the
Bangladesh. It has been succeeded for the Pathao CEO of
Hussain M Elius. I think that he can grow it more efficiently
and effectively and many employment will be created. I also
think that he is not only a good thinker but also hard worker,
passionate and have taking challenge ability.
