Problem Statement: (Engagement)

Users from Hindi-speaking states [Primarily UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, MP,
etc] form a considerable chunk of Doubtnut app users. Doubtnut
wants to increase the engagement of these users by 50% on a
day-on-day basis in the next 6 months.

Problems
1. Mixed, unorganized and sometimes irrelevant content and courses are shown to the
user on their Home and Online classes feed, with which they may not engage at all.

2. Negative (unproductive) or no engagement with “Friends” section.

3. No guide/defined path to begin learning when user opens app, which hinders
immediate engagement. Daily Goal is there, but doesn’t appear at the top, on
homepage. (getting them hooked right from the start)

4. Since our target audience is Hindi-speaking users from UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, MP, etc,
these people are constantly looking for ways to improve English and their
communication skills. And even in general, English has now become a necessity.
Doubtnut app has a lot of Shortcut buttons for different learning content available, but
not for English.

5. Also, since it is having learning material for Govt. exams, interview preparation is a
crucial part of most of the govt. exams as well. Interview preparation material is not
available too.
Improvements
1. More specific filters should be present on homepage and online classes page to show ONLY relevant
content to user. (So that user doesn’t have to go to search option and type keywords to search
randomly) The option to choose subject and further filters to choose whether:
-Dropper/Repeater > Dropper>NEET or JEE
-Dropper/Repeater> Repeater
-Type of govt. Exam> SSC or Teaching or Railway or State Police or Defence or Civil Services or IT

2. “Daily Goal” option right at top, (instead of down on the page) on Homepage can give a direction to
user to begin with their learning journey for the day. (to get them engaged immediately)

3. Instead of Friends or Dost section, this section can be called “Feed”. Since almost everyone uses
“Instagram” these days, a feed similar to that, except that this feed has informative, engaging content
for the user. The feed can begin with Word of the day, Idiom of the day, Thought of the day, Fact of the
day (This could be very engaging, especially for Hindi-speaking users, and would make users want
to visit the page everyday to check out new English words and facts!) followed by an option to
choose tags such as GK, brain teasers, maths tricks, etc to show related content on their feed.

4. As Hindi-speaking people are constantly looking for ways to improve English and communication
skills, a shortcut icon/section to all English learning content at one place called “Improve your
English” (If language chosen is English) or “Apni angrezi sudhaare” (If language chosen is Hindi) can
be very engaging for these Hindi-speaking users.

5. An “Interview preparation corner” for Hindi-speaking, government exam aspirants to prepare for
interviews and enhance their communication skills, could lead to high and positive engagement.

Scope for expansion and
increased engagement
● As an ex engineering student myself, I, like many other engineering and commerce
students, faced the problem of finding unlocked solutions of college syllabus
questions. Most of the solutions to such problems are either not available or
available on Chegg, Scribd or Coursehero, but they are LOCKED. And to see them, we
have to purchase a subscription/free trial. And no one wants to buy a subscription
to just see one answer.

● Doubtnut is a free doubt solving platform, loved by students preparing for

competitive exams. But if Doubtnut could extend its doubt-solving services to
college students and college level questions as well, then the engagement and DAU
of Doubtnut can skyrocket and increase EXPONENTIALLY! I would recommend
beginning with Engineering and Commerce college syllabus questions, for
doubt-solving.

● Free doubt solving/solutions for college level students is an untapped market as of

now, and Doubtnut can do wonders if it realizes the fact that there is a problem, a
need, that is unaddressed till now, and provide the solution for the same!
Thank you!
